The photos are awesome.

I wonder if plans are afoot for something.

Just imagine in some years time… “As the cabinet gathered for their first official meeting at 10 Downing Street, they released this photo of their first ever meeting together in 2022”.

Grin I can dream!

@EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn

India Willoughby thinks that since India looks more feminine than Liane or Angela, it’s not fair that they’re in the gang and India isn’t.
Feminists fought for years to get beyond the idea that women meant having long shiny hair and lipstick. That the relentless tedious reduction of women to a collection of crude visual signifiers is restrictive and insulting. And now we have a section of people who want to refute that. It's absurd. Absolutely absurd.

Me in my tackity boots, self-hacked hair and absolutely no style whatsoever sitting here bleeding will live and die female. And no matter how much plastic surgery is done or how much make up a male wears it will not have any effect on their sex.

I mean wear whatever you like. But don't try to pretend that wearing a corned hat en bataille makes you bloody Napoleon.

DomesticatedZombie · 11/04/2022 15:13

*Yes, somewhat laughably Heather Herbert has made a nasty little remark about the looks of the women at the lunch, saying 'as a woman, I don't normally make comments about other women's appearances'!

I can only see a summary of the tweet due to being blocked by Heather - I very much hope that the comment is being robustly challenged.*

Has anyone got a screenshot/archive of that tweet, please? Heather is standing as a councillor for the Scottish Green Party and I'd like them to explain exactly how that's in line with party principles.

MaMaLa321 · 11/04/2022 15:14

I loved the photos, but I wonder how those who were left out felt? Posie Parker has kept this going through sheer bloody-mindindness. But she seems to be the wrong sort of Feminist for some people.
And Graham Lineham, who has sacrificed his career to the cause.
Heather Brunskell Evans, who did a great talk at Bristol University.

It's great to see all those wonderful women, but there is also a trace of those horrible facebook posts of people having a great time when you weren't invited.

ScribblingPixie · 11/04/2022 15:15
This pic of JKR and - I think? - Belstaffie? is absolutely gorgeous. I can see it and others in history books in the future! The impact they've made is such that I can recognise almost everybody in the group pics on here and Twitter. So great to see them all together. Hats off too all of you!
MamaSaidTheredBeDaysLikeThis · 11/04/2022 15:16

I think if LOJ sees the picture of Rosie Duffield with JKR he might explode.

IamSarah · 11/04/2022 15:17

I love these photos so much. It's my dream dinner party.

Amazing women. The new suffragettes 💜🤍💚

Thelikelylass · 11/04/2022 15:17

Willoughby getting some very blunt responses to those comments on twitter. Deservedly so, horrible comments.

BunnyBerries · 11/04/2022 15:27

IW has also just tweeted bitterly to Arts Council England about why they have given funding to make a film project celebrating gay lives by LGB Alliance and they've just tweeted back that they're "following" up with those that funded the application... Hmm

Ironically, it kind of shows why LGBA exists

Should the Arts Council have even the slightest tremble I shall be complaining. They fund nudity and exploring feeling sexy for five year olds. Surely they can fund a film celebrating homosexuality.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/04/2022 15:39

@ScribblingPixie, I believe the two women there with JKR are Angela, who runs the Wild Womyn Workshop, and Liane, who is Head of Security for Filia.

eleanorwish · 11/04/2022 15:39

Did this work?

ScribblingPixie · 11/04/2022 15:41

Thanks, Gasp. It's the pic with Liane I love - it's a total classic.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/04/2022 15:44

It's fantastic, isn't it. I'm furious about the sniffy remarks being made about these out and proud butch lesbians. Gets to the heart of this whole thing, and shows it up for the regressive nonsense it is. Angry

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/04/2022 15:45

HH should be ashamed of that nasty little jibe.

DomesticatedZombie · 11/04/2022 15:50

Here's Heather's tweet:

So I've just seen the pictures of JKR and the GetTheLOut gang and I won't comment on another womans appearance.

In other news, I was also reminded of this from the twitts.[sic]

Accompanied by this pic, (extract from The Twits)-

“If a person has ugly thoughts, it begins to show on the face. And when that person has ugly thoughts every day, every week, every year, the face gets uglier and uglier until you can hardly bear to look at it.”

It's odd, really. I can't recall a time when I've heard a woman in politics criticise another woman for her appearance. Ever.

The wonderful thing about this is that I can think of so many women now speaking out who are not there. Which is great as it shows just how many women are organising and working to redress what's happened to women.

I'm in awe of all the ways in which women are organising and taking action. Inspirational.

DomesticatedZombie · 11/04/2022 15:51

Oh, thanks Waitwhat and eleanor!

I was composing my post and didn't realise you'd posted! Smile

DomesticatedZombie · 11/04/2022 15:52

Heather was a Labour candidate last year, but seems to have switched allegiance to the Greens. Now standing in Aberdeen. Still got the red coat, though.

SirVixofVixHall · 11/04/2022 15:53

@DoYouSeaWhatISea

Looks like an amazing get together!
Wish I’d been there too, what a brilliant group of women.
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/04/2022 15:53

Is that allowed? I thought parties were pretty hot on expecting loyalty and longevity of allegiance.

What a fantastic bunch of women!! To see them all together like that is absolutely wonderful, powerful stuff.
