I just listened to this! It's outrageous.

JulesJules · 31/03/2022 18:01

Yes, the sciencey stuff is such a mystery isn't it. Had to turn the radio off before I chucked it out of the window.

Clymene · 31/03/2022 18:02

I fucking hate Evan Davis. He is a disgustingly bigoted misogynist and shouldn't be presenting news programmes. He's so blatantly biased

IvyTwines · 31/03/2022 18:04

Absolutely fucking furious. A really big sports story with massive implications for the sporting activity and chances for half the population, several major sports stars past and present getting involved, something that any journalist with a nose for a story would have been gagging to cover back before it all went mad.

And what have we got? Not a peep on BBC Radio 5, the supposed sports channel, nada as far as I've seen on BBC TV, and the historically biased and thoroughly stonewalled male Evan Davis interviewing another male with this absurd and offensive take on PM.

IvyTwines · 31/03/2022 18:08

Amazing how quickly that famous BBC 'balance' gets thrown out the window when it's something that negatively impacts women.

hotdogsjumpingfrogs · 31/03/2022 18:09

She is a PhD student! They couldn't get someone with an actual qualification????

JulesJules · 31/03/2022 18:19

I did hear some of it on radio 5 this morning, but had to turn the radio off (recurring theme) when Rachel Burden said something like "let's not forget, at the centre of this story is a poor, vulnerable..." CLICK

Heaven forbid that the women whose actual sport this is should be considered. Or even mentioned in passing. FFS.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 31/03/2022 18:25

Is it completely implausible for BBC to consider interviewing Ross Tucker, Emma Hilton, Colin Wright, Cathy Devine, Linda Blade, Sharron Davies, Carole Hooven (if they must be obsessed with testosterone) or any of the other informed commentators?

Clymene · 31/03/2022 18:29

They have interviewed Tucker. Not on PM though because Davis is pushing a TWAW agenda
Signalbox · 31/03/2022 18:36

Another statement on the way this time from UCI 8pm…

Breaking news - Emily won't compete
hotdogsjumpingfrogs · 31/03/2022 18:40

Oooh, I'm so angry I've submitted my first ever complaint to the bbc.

Shockingly hard to find the complaints page, or was that just me?

Crcohetmonster · 31/03/2022 18:55

Bet the statement is UCI are now allowing EB to compete.

nauticant · 31/03/2022 19:07

Ross Tucker was on More or Less and was allowed to speak for a reasonable length of time about the science:

www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0bnmpld

I was very pleasantly surprised.

Tweet has been deleted.
Crcohetmonster · 31/03/2022 19:36

That’s interesting. Maybe he got told off for ruining the surprise?

ChateauMargaux · 31/03/2022 20:11

@signalbox will you share it if you see it please?

Signalbox · 31/03/2022 20:14
@signalbox will you share it if you see it please?
No sign of it and Jon has deleted the tweet so perhaps this was a mistake.

teawamutu · 31/03/2022 20:20

Hope so. No need for more today Grin

PearPickingPorky · 31/03/2022 20:39

Oh, that's a shame.

I was anticipating that UCI would be doing a spectacular, ahem, backpedal.

Lemonyfuckit · 31/03/2022 20:46

@IvyTwines

It is being noted on twitter that there is no mention of 'women' or 'female' in British Cycling's very reluctant statement.
100% this. My thoughts in a nutshell.
ChateauMargaux · 31/03/2022 20:48

@Signalbox... hopefully that is good news.

Feelingoktoday · 31/03/2022 22:52

“”Earlier this week swimming’s governing body, Fina, proposed a new rule that will require trans women to reduce their testosterone for at least 36 months before competing in the women’s category – and put the burden of proof on the athlete to demonstrate they have no retained advantage. The proposal is likely to be voted on in June””

It’s still not enough! We are not men with lower testosterone. We have wider hips, smaller lungs, etc etc. We are made differently we are not non testosterone men. Bloody insult.

OvaHere · 31/03/2022 22:55

They don't need to talk with other sports. To be honest they don't need to speak with anyone because male advantage is self evident and always will be. However if they must talk with someone why not start with all the female athletes they've been completely ignoring at every step?

Absolutely.
