A male Tory MP has released a statement on Twitter that they are transgender, and also that a couple of years ago they were raped.
It's a brave statement.

This has all the hallmarks now of a total shit show.

This has become a real sign of the times.

Russia invades Ukraine and say they are the victims, protecting themselves from a dangerous neighbour

MP runs a sugar daddy website, involves himself in a car crash and tries to deflect with 'other news'

This is gas lighting on an industrial scale.

Sleazy man comes out as Trans. This never happens!

I am shook. To my core.

EndaDay · 30/03/2022 10:28

@Lovelyricepudding

He appears to be director of 10 companies that have over 800 complaints to trading standards including 20 enforcement visits. He lies about his involvement with a company, lies to the press about it, and then crashes his car and runs away.

If only there was a way you could leave all that behind? Change your name, start afresh with a new identify?

Quite.

What another pile of horse-shit.

PronounssheRa · 30/03/2022 10:29

The Sugar-Daddy.net business offered people introductions to wealthy individuals, saying: "We can introduce you to your very own sugar daddy and solve your money worries.

"Whether you're a boy, girl, straight or gay, there's a sugar daddy for you."

Pimping dressed up as something else.
The idea that someone who was involved in this kind of thing will ever care about women's rights is laughable.

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/03/2022 10:30

@Theunamedcat

Hmmm
Indeed.
Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 30/03/2022 10:30

Nothing to see here
A white middle aged Tory MP who has been the director of a company encouraging prostitution (and lied about his involvement) now has a sob story and is being 'very brave'.
I don't have much sympathy for pimps I'm afraid. I have much more sympathy for the youngsters he traded to the wealthy for sex, and the long term damage that may have caused them.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 30/03/2022 10:31

Wow, it is very brave to say “I’m not OK” publicly and to give such detail.

I really hope they get the support they need (sticking to they to be safe)

tabbycatstripy · 30/03/2022 10:31

Grumpy: I’m with you. Being the victim of a horrible crime doesn’t cancel out being a sleazy pimp.

Clymene · 30/03/2022 10:32

This is nothing brave about this bloke. It's pure damage limitation

Swayingpalmtrees · 30/03/2022 10:32

I feel very sorry for his constituents, I am sure they did not know what they were signing up for.

princessleah1 · 30/03/2022 10:32

here's the wikipedia page -

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamie_Wallis

I wonder what sort of help he's able to accept.

ScreamingMeMe · 30/03/2022 10:33

'They' is a prounoun preferred by many trans and non-binary people. I don't think it's up to us to come up with a new one, and it certainly wouldn't be appreciated!

This is a lot to get my head around. Gosh.

DomesticatedZombie · 30/03/2022 10:33

@PronounssheRa

Yes Jamie was a co owner of a sugar daddy dating site which offered students financial relationships with rich men. HmmJamie denied this initially.

Jess phillips wanted Jamie to resign as a result.

It seems like Jamie needs some time to recover from a traumatic period.

Hmm
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/03/2022 10:34

I'm sorry for his troubles but yet again we see a complete failure of due diligence when selecting someone for a responsible, high profile role. It's never been easier to find out someone's past history, and yet it's often not done. Laziness, naivety or indifference?

Blackmail could be to do with being gay, if not out, I suppose. Glad the police were able to deal with it.

SawnWood · 30/03/2022 10:35

To me, (alledgedly) someone who crashes their car at 1am at low speed and leaves the scene of the crime does so because they know they will be arrested for drink driving. And the denying they are involved in the website? Surely that’s a parliamentary standards thing and how can people get past the documented lies?

But rape and blackmail is a lot to have going on.

Bridgend is one of Labour's prime targets in Wales in the next election this is going to have an interesting impact on Welsh politics.

You can read his statement in full here:
www.thenational.wales/news/20030547.bridgend-mp-jamie-wallis-gender-identity-past-sexual-assault/

It sounds like Wallis is dealing with internalised homophobia made worse by the trauma of rape. Being a Tory is not going to help in dealing with any of this stuff. Hope Wallis gets the support needed. However like many right leaning people he may fall into the trap of thinking it is better to be trans than gay. Hence the blackmail. All this in 2022 when most people do not care if you are gay or not.

Wallis signed up to to reforming Gender recognition act and obviously has been part of that section of the Tories:
www.appglgbt.org/news/nicola-richards-and-alicia-kearns-conservatives-believe-in-freedom-and-choice-thats-why-we-should-reform-the-gender-recognition-act

Wallis has spoken up on conversion therapy, from his words and Liz Truss' response seems it is a particular focus :
hansard.parliament.uk/Commons/2021-07-07/debates/E7B96DC5-CCD5-465E-9FF1-1FA1A722C9B1/ConversionTherapySupportForVictims?highlight=lgbt#contribution-8915EF2B-6FA4-49E1-BB08-A332B68593D9

hansard.parliament.uk/Commons/2021-03-08/debates/552D6176-C4D5-47F1-A8C1-C900B58AEB7C/LGBTConversionTherapy?highlight=lgbt#contribution-6421E5A7-66C7-4507-B1F6-2EAE55CD90CF

That aside it does seem he is involved in a bunch of dodgy things. Wallis was one of those that lobbied against investigating Owen Patterson for corruption.

Alex Wickham at Buzzfeed looked a bunch of dodgy stuff Wallis got up to through shell companies like supporting outsourcing including sugar daddy stuff :
www.buzzfeed.com/alexwickham/jamie-wallis-conservative-mp-outsource-jobs-thailand

There are lots of allegations about dodgy business practices via his father it seems:
data-recovery-blog.co.uk/jamie-wallis-multimillionaire-ewarfare-un-ethical-hacker-and-conservative-politician/

BoreOfWhabylon · 30/03/2022 10:35

Wikipedia has decided that Jamie is "they".

Bit of a disagreement about this on the 'talk' page.

IncompleteSenten · 30/03/2022 10:36

"I wonder what he means by he wants to be trans?"

Well it certainly won't be a cynical move made because it will get tra support and votes and distract from a deeply disturbing business history.

LuluBlakey1 · 30/03/2022 10:37

He sounds awful in every way.

Hm. Some very fast edits on the wiki page, I think.

www.buzzfeed.com/alexwickham/jamie-wallis-co-owned-sugar-daddy-website

BootsAndRoots · 30/03/2022 10:38

I have very little interest in what political party the man represents as people like him tend to represent whatever party is likely to win in order to boost their own personal career.

What does "trans" mean? Definitely doesn't sound like he wants to become more "transparent" with everything he's been up to.

Trans is now so ambiguous, and that he would "like to become trans", meaning that he can say it, not do anything and then have a change of mind.

Swayingpalmtrees · 30/03/2022 10:38

Is this man supposed to be representing our children!!! Shock

It is absolutely unbelievable that he should be put in such a position of power and status running a pimp operation.
