Did MNHQ put this one back up, or was it never actually taken down?

They deleted my comment about my dying MIL's distress at being in a mixed sex bay in hospital. So that was nice.

Why not ask them what you would need to change for it to remain? They do that sometimes. Just report the post and ask. It might need just a slight tweak and they will tell you where.

The answer to that is no. No, she was not.

The time for being willing to enable the playing with words that has led to six or seven such cases of women being harmed by it is over. It is not something anyone with a conscience can go on unquestioningly enabling.

will no one think of the rapists and their tragic oppression when people fail to use their preferred pronouns?

get your priorities straight people

I’m so sorry Flowers that post was a difficult read, but I don’t see why womens distress should be swept under the carpet because it’s inconvenient.

My comment about my mums dementia and the distress that would be caused to her by a lack of single sex spaces was also deleted.

I wonder what kind of person would report posts like those?

The thread was closed overnight, and has now been heavily redacted.

Flowers to you Bluer and Sophocles. I'm so sorry about your mothers.

We know already that some people are very keen to keep women quiet. We can't be allowed to talk about our feelings, thoughts, experiences or beliefs, because it would spoil things.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 19/03/2022 10:24

fuck me

Flowers for the women who have been censored for talking about their, and their mothers lives and feelings

oh the fucking irony

I found this interesting in Justine's thread about the online safety bill

sites like Mumsnet will no longer be able to be pressured into removing users’ posts by malicious complaints that say our content is psychologically harmful

I do wonder if that's a tactic that's used by some of the more controlling posters here

BluerThanRobinsEggs · 19/03/2022 11:07

To be fair on MNHQ I think I ended with giving free directions to our second favourite lawyer but I was so cross with being told once again that women don't matter.

MIL was so happy with her sons there, she hadn't a clue who they were but she knew she loved them. It was the first time any of them had seen her in ages and they all knew it was close to the end - hence finally allowing a visit. And then they put a man in the next bay and this poor dying woman riddled with cancer and in pain was desperately trying to get away, and that's the last time DH saw her. Mixed sex bays don't work.

The silencing and erasing of other people's experiences by demanding that a post is removed is equally psychologically harmful if not more so.

We're back into this lovely idea of a two tier society where some people matter and others.... really, really don't.

No. No thank you.

My guess is that someone realised that the thread was starting to go quite badly for them, and perhaps that it was not a good look, professionally speaking, so they had a word with MN. I noticed that their particularly egregious post seems to have been removed at their own request.
