I refuse to vote labour until they start supporting biological women. There are conflicts and this needs to be addressed.

@BiggerBoat1

She is small minded.

She may not understand trans women, but does that give her the right to be so completely lacking in empathy?

As someone above said, she is entitled to an opinion. As am I. I see nothing to admire in her.

@BiggerBoat1 Do you even know what she said? She said trans people deserve protections and safe spaces of their own, and that women deserve protections and safe spaces of their own. How is that lacking in empathy? On the contrary, she has empathy for women, as well as trans people. You are the small minded person. You are ignorant and clearly jumped on the bandwagon of hating her without even reading what she ACTUALLY said. That makes you gullible, brainwashed, ignorant, small-minded and lacking any empathy. JKR is a wonderful woman who does so much for women here, in Afghanistan, and Ukraine. She has done more in her life for women and trans women than you will ever have in your ignorant, shallow and cold, cruel empathyless life. You should be ashamed of yourself!

Oh so that old

Be kind
Trope.

No thank you and ffs stop telling women to be kind, go tell the men.

Waitwhat23 · 13/03/2022 09:15

Just for anyone who hasn't seen JKR's sensible, measured essay - "J.K. Rowling Writes about Her Reasons for Speaking out on Sex and Gender Issues - J.K. Rowling" www.jkrowling.com/opinions/j-k-rowling-writes-about-her-reasons-for-speaking-out-on-sex-and-gender-issues/

FrancescaContini · 13/03/2022 09:18

I also very much ❤️ JKR and am very very happy to continue buying her books for various family members.

FrancescaContini · 13/03/2022 09:19

@BiggerBoat1

Small minded?!?!?!?! Hmm

PinaColada123456 · 13/03/2022 09:25

It's very clear @BiggerBoat1 hasn't a clue what JKR even said, has never read what she said, and is going off third hand 'sources'. If they read themselves, first hand, what she actually said, BiggerBoat1 wouldn't have made a fool of themselves with such ignorant and ill-informed comments. They are the small-minded ones. And so gullible and easily led.

SamphiretheStickerist · 13/03/2022 09:29

Funny. As I catch up on yesterday I realised that even now, so many months on, there are so many people who just have not bothered to read what JKR actually wrote. Still relying on some of the weirdest misinformation - weird in that even the quotes used to discredit her give the lie to those doing the discrediting - showing themselves to be lacking in even rudimentary independent, critical thinking.

Why? Why do people simply choose to surrender their thinking?

Theeyeballsinthesky · 13/03/2022 09:32

I’m
Sure @BiggerBoat1 will be able to quote exactly what jkr has said that shows she is small minded and lacking in empathy because to make such a statement I’m sure Boat has read JKR essay in full right?

Unless Boat is just identifying as having knowledge of what JKR actually said

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 13/03/2022 09:47

Starmer is such a disappointment . He is supposed to be a sharp legal mind but he can't see the massive contradiction in his statement. What on earth is wrong with trans women being trans women? It's reality. Men's spaces don't feel safe for som trans women, that's also reality. Why aren't we talking about reality?

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 13/03/2022 09:55

She's bloody fantastic and gives no fucks

Pluvia · 13/03/2022 09:56

Oh, he can see the contradiction but he's wedded to being kind and not having the TRAs turn on him and the Labour Party. And he knows that one branch of Labour, Momentum (which is popular with young people), is totally wedded to TWAW and all the misogyny that goes with it. I think things may change after the Allison Bailey case, which will give everyone good reason to step away from Stonewall and condemn its behaviour with good reason.

Starmer's never going to be PM so why he can't just stand up for material reality I don't know. The fact that he doesn't think the offence felt by so many adult human females, including many in his own party who are lying low and hoping he'll deal with the problem, really matters doubles down on how offensive this is. I know round here the Labour and Lib Dem council candidates are being asked to define a woman at every other house they knock at. Word has got out, thanks to the much-hated Daily Mail, and everyone's beginning to sit up and take notice. Even my sister, who called me a terf and my views hateful, has gone very quiet on the subject and has admitted that she hadn't realised how bad the situation is.

spacehardware · 13/03/2022 09:59

"He is supposed to be a sharp legal mind but he can't see the massive contradiction in his statement"

He's not the only QC with this problem ...

Waitwhat23 · 13/03/2022 10:13

I suspect that this is happening to a lot of people who have started to realise that it's not about 'be kind' at all and is just a full scale assault against women.

lapsat · 13/03/2022 10:20

Starmer is clutching at political straws.

He's failed to make a dent against the tories in what should have been an easy field. So now I'm a rather desperate attempt to stay relevant and keep his job, he's joining in the hate on a woman that has outstripped, outwitted, outperformed all of those throwing stones at her.

JK is absolutely marvellous. So much chat about her career being over from people who wish it to be so, but still the films keep being made. The kids still keep on loving her books. Her castle is self made and secure. No wonder they hate her so. She's everything they wish they could be, she's showing them all and Starmer up. Really they should be looking at, admiring and learning from her success. Rather than trying and failing to diminish her.

It all looks very pathetic.

FrancescaContini · 13/03/2022 10:23

He’s lost my vote for being so spineless.

HRTQueen · 13/03/2022 10:30

I agree Starmer is trying to stay relevant

It’s a vote winner for a few (who are likely to vote Labour anyway)

leli · 13/03/2022 10:31

@WestendVBroadway

Another reason for me to dislike JK Rowling!
Please give us the benefit of understanding your position then? You are a believer in TWAW? What about TMAM?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

VitalsStable · 13/03/2022 10:59

@samsalmon

I’ve just got an image of a massively crowded hillside, with people budging up to make room for newcomers, with a very festive spirit, almost like a festival? 😁
Maybe we should arrange such a festival?? She can be our torch bearer when we climb that hill??
VitalsStable · 13/03/2022 11:02

@WeirdArchitecture

Funny how a filth rag like the DM is suddenly considered credible if it suits our narrative.

Considering the sexist, low level trash this tabloid generally spews out, how anyone can take it seriously astounds me.

If I was going to link to this story I would give the DM a wide berth. If there is an alternative article I would recommend posting a link for those of us who prefer actual journalism.

Maybe if the wanky left wing press didn't have their heads up the arses of the TWAW activists you'd get more stories saying such.
VitalsStable · 13/03/2022 11:13

Transmen aren't up in arms about all this utter bullshit because they don't have that sense of male entitlement, which is where all this bullshit comes from. They're used to getting what the fuck they want as men and expect the same result when they're pretending to be women.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 13/03/2022 11:28

I suspect that Starmer & co desperately wish that the whole thing would just go away. No doubt there was a meeting where a bunch of Labour MPs and activists got together to discuss ‘the problem’ and some bright spark came up with the idea of trying to find a ‘sensible middle ground’ by suggesting that henceforth women can be referred to as either female adults or trans women.

Brilliant!

Except it’s not. It will fall flat on its face because ultimately there can’t be a compromise. Males cannot become females.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 13/03/2022 11:40

@DrSbaitso

Shame she didn't write them in any way that actually invoked antisemitic stereotypes. They're pale with dome shaped heads, long fingers and feet and that's about it. She didn't even make them up as creatures.

Then again, the fact that Lupin wasn't gay or trans is taken by some people as proof of her transphobia. I wish I were making this up.

The antisemitism thing is such a desperate over reach. They point out that in the films, in Gringotts Bank, there is a six pointed star design on the floor, and as JKR had a lot of creative control over the films she obviously approved the location/set design, so there you go, incontrovertible proof that the goblins were meant to be Jewish.

Sane people point out that those scenes were filmed in Australia House in London and the tiled floor is as originally installed when it was built in the 1930s. Does it make any difference? Of course not.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 13/03/2022 11:42

I think I'll send her a card. Here's the webpage with various contact details for enquiries/correspondence. www.jkrowling.com/enquiries/

But they should be up in arms at this. Transmen were born female and so have first hand experience of women's oppression, so they should be supporting us women instead of being silent and not standing with us.
