"THE THING IS, IT HELPS WHEN PEOPLE STAND UP TO THEM. IT GIVES EVERYONE HOPE." Neville Longbottom, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows.

JK is a woman who understands a great deal about the value of bravery.

I love her. She's an amazing human being. I've just resigned my Labour Party membership. I can't bear it any more.

Isn't Caspar Salmon the one who told LOJ to find himself a broody Lesbian?

Yep, that's him. He's a revolting misogynist.

Thanks for the sharetoken, pleased to see the mention of the regressive stereotypes inherent in gender ideology getting a mention.

Rhannion · 12/03/2022 22:51

JKR is an absolute star and thousands and thousands of women will be on that hill too.

Rhannion · 12/03/2022 22:53

And Starmer , Dodds et all are fools

Bordois · 12/03/2022 23:14

@spacehardware

Oh they got the anti semitism accusations in recently. Remember the goblins thing? 🙄
Strange how this supposed anti-semitism and racism was only spotted after she spoke out about women's rights. Hmm
RaininSummer · 12/03/2022 23:40

Hoorah for JK. I am so pleased she feels able to speak up saying everything I would like to say if I were as eloquent and not worried about losing my job.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/03/2022 23:47

Yep, that's him. He's a revolting misogynist.

That creep! Hilarious that JKR handed him his arse Smile

vamptramp · 12/03/2022 23:48

Queen J! 💚

HoliHormonalTigerlilly · 13/03/2022 06:41

@HollowTalk

What's she's doing is standing in front of women who are more vulnerable so that the arrows hit her. She's absolutely amazing and I love her.

I see comments have been turned off (again) on that times article.

Igneococcus · 13/03/2022 07:46

Today's leading article, comments open but premoderated, I have one pending which I doubt will be allowed:

haaaaaaalp · 13/03/2022 08:08

I wish I could be half as brave as she is.

Thanks, I've put a comment on. Will see if it gets through.

Deliriumoftheendless · 13/03/2022 08:29

Sorry this is a bit off topic.

It was World Book Day recently- our school had a loose theme of Harry Potter for the dress code. We had the usual superhero outfits (in a deprived area parents will send their kid in what they have, not what they go and buy for the day) but the school was full of Harrys and Hermionies and Hogwarts staff . There was far more Potter outfits than anything else. So not many parents boycotting her work there. Also the borough is doing a reading thing where a Potter book is sent from school to school and the kids add drawings before passing it on.

Why choose such a “controversial” and “hated” “bigot”? Because IRL JK Rowling is loved and respected by so many. People agree with her or don’t care. They like the books/films/humanitarian work.

Twitter might hate her and it may be voguish to slate her but it’s a different situation in reality.

Theunamedcat · 13/03/2022 08:38

One of our pta parents is a complete Potter head "of course she doesn't agree with her vile statements and will no longer buy new books and merchandise" apparently which is weird because as a family they are usually intelligent and well read plus the amount of Harry Potter merchandise she buys its mostly legit and not etsy at all you can tell she is a hypocrite who hasn't read a dam word of her essay she is just getting her lbtq+ credentials in she is very careful infront of me (my dd is very obviously lesbian and very much centre's the "T") which I find hilarious because I'm gender critical 🤣 my daughter and I do not discuss the subject at all!

Theunamedcat · 13/03/2022 08:42

And I won't be voting for starmer its ridiculous now but boris is literally killing people with his gas rises his attack on the poor and disabled im not sure how I'm going to live through next winter I'm currently on carers allowance to look after my son I may end up trying to go back to work (which ironically costs me more) because after school care has heating and food

Cailin66 · 13/03/2022 08:49

@BiggerBoat1

She's awful and needs to shut up. Plenty of people on here lapping up her bullshit though I see!
You don’t believe in the right to give opinions? Or you don’t want people to be allowed have opinions you disagree with?
BraveBananaBadge · 13/03/2022 08:56

Love this, Hollow!

The only problem with that DM article as I see it is that headline which would read, to a critic, as if she's just kicking off at any mention of trans anything. If I didn't like her I'd just see that headline, have my biases confirmed and not bother reading any more, which doesn't help.

Her arguments have and always been pro-women, not anti-trans. This is a hugely important distinction and I just wish the media would recognise it as such.
