Lavery would have more success raising the dead than hoiking up book sales for that dreadful piece of drivel they vomited out.

bishophaha · 23/02/2022 15:57

"I no longer felt like I could understand exactly how my advocacy could be useful to the UK trans community"

So close to getting it...

bishophaha · 23/02/2022 15:59

What does HJ "suggested someone make her an actual blackshirt" mean? I can't parse it.

ScreamingMeMe · 23/02/2022 16:05

Do you think this is all some strange publicity stunt for Lavery's new book? It's all very bizarre.

TheUsualShitshow · 23/02/2022 16:08

@bishophaha

What does HJ "suggested someone make her an actual blackshirt" mean? I can't parse it.
Is this not wildly extrapolated from something HJ tweeted, a picture of a T-shirt that said something about wine?

It's all a vomit of simmering nonsense.

GnomeOrMistAndIceGuy · 23/02/2022 16:09

A public intellectual!?
No.
A spiteful narcissist is more accurate.

DomesticatedZombie · 23/02/2022 16:12

Pubic intellectual, maybe.

TheCurrywurstPrion · 23/02/2022 16:36

@DomesticatedZombie

Pubic intellectual, maybe.
🤣😂🤣

Looks like someone did, yes.

That's a bit fucking creepy tbh and I don't agree with it at all.

I apologise for my previous assumption no woman would do this. I was rather assuming someone had taken the time to send a private e-mail, rather than sharing on Twitter.

I think Twitter is a horrible platform, that brings out the worst in people, not least because everything is too easily available and too easy to link to. I’m glad to see that there were a number of prominent women who called it out.

Lavery appears to be very unstable. The wild accusations are quite something.

I have read 2 chapters of it and it is the most poorly written book I have ever read, talk about needing an editor. Even small things like instead of Whole Foods, in the book its referred to as "Hole foods" without any explanation as if the reader is supposed to think its daring or something. I am just left with the question of who let this go to print and how could anyone think this is a good book to dedicate to ones Mother if they are sensitive about explicit content. I'm just glad I did not spend money on this book and feel sorry for anyone who did, its truely awful

Livery is just a grotesque, Gumbo. After reading that I sincerely hope I never hear another word from them ever again. That's given me the absolute rage.

Anyone who believes a word of that histrionic nonsense would be an absolute fool.

ScreamingMeMe · 23/02/2022 17:33

Yes I agree.

I have an account but it's mostly for lurking. Getting embroiled in twitter arguments was doing nothing good for me!

Goatsaregreat · 23/02/2022 17:43

I am bemused to see that the Mail has covered this grim person's twitter suspension. The bemused comments from DM readers demonstrates that have no idea of the real nature of this person Hmm Grin :

Oh god have you seen the latest?

Wow.

I don’t get the impression Lavery’s unstable per se, it’s just a Trumpian relationship with the truth. And playing the victim note hard because TRAs eat that shit up with a spoon. What a sordid pathetic embarrassment of a human being.

Datun · 23/02/2022 18:19

Dear lord. He's obviously never had any kind of prolonged dental treatment.

Should have just gone to the dentist, mate.

PMSL at that Mail headline link

NotTerfNorCis · 23/02/2022 18:34

Noted that Lavery thinks feminism has nothing to do with sex based rights. What is it based on, then?

BraveBananaBadge · 23/02/2022 18:35

Ah. Thinks you shouldn't be banned from Twitter for wishing death on public figures (Mail story). I see where this is going - no harm done to JKR then was there. What's everyone so upset about.

And if we can't wish the queen dead then talk of succession is being suppressed. Right. Okay.

Absolutely hateful character. Misogyny off the scale.

PermanentTemporary · 23/02/2022 19:03

@NotTerfNorCis I can see the argument there in that first wave feminism was more about removing sex based restrictions, abd that remains part of feminism. However, feminism not based on sex at all had to wait for the 4th wave, or whatever this is.

MondayYogurt · 23/02/2022 21:31

Something interesting is if you report someone on Twitter for tweeting "I hope the Queen dies" Twitter response is that it does NOT break their rules.

They then go on to provide this summary of what they agree is not allowed:

Here’s a summary of what isn’t allowed on Twitter, according to our safety policies.

•	Threatening violence against someone or a group of people
•	Celebrating or praising violence
•	Harassing someone or encouraging people to harass someone
•	Wishing harm on someone
•	Promoting violence, threatening, or harassing people because of their identity (like race or gender)
•	Promoting or encouraging suicide or self-harm
•	Images or videos that show sexual violence and assault
•	Child sexual exploitation
•	Threatening or promoting terrorism or violent extremism

That Mail link is worth reading for the description of Jeremy Corbyn. They do repeat verbatim that Unherd/Unheard is a far right outlet though.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 23/02/2022 22:17

For the last few years I've tried to be a scholar, a public intellectual, and an author of creative prose"

Mate, for the last few years I've been trying to be thinner.

I'm fat as fuck.

With self awareness.
