Having been let down by Stewart Lee I wondered if anyone knows how Dylan Moran stands on gender woowoo? I have tickets to see him soon...

StillWeRise · 10/02/2022 21:09

was worried someone already knew he was gender woo.....lets hope not...

billydilly · 10/02/2022 21:11

I saw some gloating Twitter comment by the wretched CursedE but was hoping it was inaccurate.

OP posts:
donquixotedelamancha · 10/02/2022 21:36

I'm afraid he's TWAW. He's had a number of pops at Glinner for wrongthink.

billydilly · 10/02/2022 21:41

Oh dear. Fuck him then.

PandorasMailbox · 10/02/2022 21:43

I love stand up, this is depressing as hell. Am I just left with Ricky Gervais??

Lay off the sauce Dylan , it has wrecked your critical faculties.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 11/02/2022 00:58

Bill Bailey? Surely we can rely on Bill Bailey?

Louisianagumbo · 11/02/2022 00:59

I thought Dylan Moran was dead?

Featuredcreature · 11/02/2022 01:03

Oh god, fuck them all, insulated wokey blokes. I went to see Ross noble last year and he didn't say anything either way tbh. He was good too. Richard herring is kind of amorphous too, I haven't heard him say anything egregious about jk, he seems to avoid the issue if possible.

Featuredcreature · 11/02/2022 01:06

I used to love Dylan Moran Sad sadge. I don't care if comedians don't really address this, as soon as they have a go at jk they can fuck right off.

UnWilly · 11/02/2022 01:21

I do often hope that, just as many of us have changed our stance from #BeKind and #TWAW the more we have thought about it, that some previous #BeKind and #TWAW comedians have had another think. They won't necessarily have declared it but the lack of recent statements may hopefully not rule out a rethink...

TooBigForMyBoots · 11/02/2022 01:37

What do you want in a comedian @billydilly? Someone who makes you laugh? Or someone who agrees with you?

PyongyangKipperbang · 11/02/2022 01:38

Al Murray is touring this year.....no news on how woke he is. One hopes that his Pub Landlord act means he is still as offensive as ever but I rather suspect not :(

notanotherkatechopin · 11/02/2022 01:45

It's not a dealbreaker for a comedian for me unless they can't do their job (making people think laugh). Having said that I've completely gone off Eddie; then again Eddie has rather gone off the deep end, just not in a good way.

My favourite Dylan Moran show remains How Do You Want Me (RIP Charlotte Coleman, Emma Chambers, and Frank Finlay). I like to think that Lisa would give the bumbling Ian rather a withering look if he started spouting TWAW nonsense.

JulesRimetStillGleaming · 11/02/2022 01:55

@Louisianagumbo

I thought Dylan Moran was dead?

I think you're thinking of Sean Hughes.

tiredvommachineasaurus · 11/02/2022 01:59

I saw Al Murray on tour end of last year and he was fantastic, no wokery in sight 😁

Thank you! That is good to know, but then as an intelligent man he probably knows his audience and that woke will not fly with them!

Tim Minchin was excellent, not entirely standup but quite a lot of talking in between songs. Managed to get the point out across that actually everyone one is entitled to their opinions about gender (i.e. GC is valid) and be careful because twaw purists will come after you if you slip in their eyes. I took it that he was defo GC but didn't want to rock his money making fan boat too hard. He's my new favourite funny man, and he has amazing hair and eye makeup whilst being a strong, confident..... man

Oh that's brilliant. Given Minchin's stock in trade I would be surprised if he wasn't GC to some degree. He has no time for bullshit or hypocrisy and that's always been his schtick. He's a critical thinker so it would be strange if he suddenly came out batting for woo (although I'm always prepared for the disappointment - see Robin Ince).

Although as pp said I don't need anyone to bring it into their act. I'd rather they didn't in most cases.

BraveBananaBadge · 11/02/2022 07:47

If you're feeling v sweary look up his Pope Song - popped up on shuffle recently after a long time and blew me away to hear it again Grin

(Not kidding - v sweary)

As you say, that makes it all the more puzzling when people who pitch themselves like that start spouting the crap. Looking at you Stuart Lee. I can only assume their misogyny and ambition outweighs their vanity

PermanentTemporary · 11/02/2022 07:57

I'm happy to laugh while disagreeing, I'm not going to buy tickets to Jimmy Carr but I'd love to see Moran again or Stewart Lee. Mark Wilson is 100% TWAW and that comes from a bottomless well of loveliness and the choice of such strong women as partners that I think he genuinely can't see any women as vulnerable. He dislikes MN but even that is expressed as sympathy for us. He's lovely and very funny. Why limit ourselves to people who agree with us?

I loved this show too, though how weird that they are all dead now?

This is good to know! Bloody love Tim Minchin.

I’m trying not to get put off comedians when they disagree with me on this, because I know it doesn’t mean they’re bad people. It’s really hard though.
