Reports that Lia Thomas has been exposing themselves to female team mates and that they have complained and been ignored on multiple occasions...

But this kind of thing NEVER happens! Aren't we told that again and again?
The question is WHY would this person WANT to do this? To make their fellow team mates uncomfortable? We are told that TW are SO dysphoric about their body and it causes them so much trauma that they will go to extreme lengths to change it. Why would this person be flashing that part of their male anatomy around?
This really is the end game isn't it? Women now have to accept that a penis in a ladies space is no longer a penis if the owner of said penis has a very specific feeling in their head. It physically changes the penis into a female penis.
Are we so far down the gender rabbit hole that this is what it's come to? And yet WE are the ones in the wrong for objecting.
The whole team should refuse to swim with this person. Or if this person wins, there should be no response from the crowd until the second woman finishes the race.

I suspect someone will be along in a minute to argue that the women should "not be looking at Lia's genitals". This was the argument in the thread about the Wi Spa incident, that the child should not have looked at the man with erection in their spa. It was THEIR fault they were offended. And erections happen and are natural.

Having lived in the US and knowing how conservative, paternal, sport-loving and Christian their society can be, I’m just amazed this is being allowed to happen so openly and flagrantly. Anyone with half a brain can see it for exactly what it is.

What are the demographics of the support for this sort of thing in the USA? Here, it's Ivy League, so I'd guess very white, upper middle/upper class?

Thinking about the scholarships angle, these girls are being forced to put up with this in silence otherwise they lose:

• their place on their team
• the sport they've trained for years to do
• their swimming linked scholarship
• possibly their financial ability to complete their degree at an Ivy League university

@RVN123 your post chimes woth what I've just seen on another thread. The one about the school trip where the school has put responsibility on parents to agree/object to mixed sex sleeping. There's a poster who's been going on for days about how it should be allowed because the kids are friends and the girls have given permission, the boy in question really feels like a girl and probably isn't sexually attracted to girls anyway so it's NBD to share. The parents saying no are being big meanies. The usual stuff and I'm at how/why anyone would want boys and girls to share*

No understanding of safeguarding. No concern that some of the girls might not be comfortable. No acknowledgment of the levels of sexual abuse and harrassment by males on females. No concern about teen pregnancy. No thought about protecting the boy from accusations. And I'm here hoping my head doesn't explode because it's SO INSANE!

I think they should all boycott the change rooms and just go straight home. Not ideal but duck it. Also they should use plain language. Erection. Lia has erections when being around actual women changing.

The difficulty with this is that most, if not all of the girls on the team have to compete to get a college education.

If they go home they are hit with a huge bill for tuition.

I'd hope that while at college they could change in the rooms, stick a tracksuit on and not go into the changing room. They shouldn't have to and of course it will hurt Lia's feelings.

Almost as bizarre as the complete lack of posters defending him - where are they? Almost as if men swimming with women and changing with them despite having penises is indefensible.

My understanding is that actual sports scholarships at Ivy schools are rare. Ivy League is not a strong sports league, hence the surprise of any ‘woman’ qualifying from there to the National championships. Potential Olympians go to places like Auburn instead. Ivy League schools are incredibly competitive to get into, and unlike, say Oxbridge, they are looking for applicants with breadth: musicians, sportspeople, leaders. Most if not all the team will have used swimming to help gain the place, not to save money. If they qualify for financial support it will be because they gained the place through a combination of academics, sport and strength of application, and then qualified. They will want to stay on the team, partly because they have done years of training to get there and so this is what they do and where their friends are, but also being both athletic and academic enhances a CV.

Why should the rest stop doing what they do because of Lia?

Lia is shining a full beam spotlight on the issue. Ivy League , and the fact they don’t really buy in their sports team via scholarships means that many of the girls will have affluent and articulate parents who can afford lawyers.

@WhatyoutalkingaboutWillis - the men in the men's changing rooms are the ones who respect women's boundaries. They are the good guys.

I'd take my chances in the men's changing rooms whether it's at a swim meet, M+S, Pure Gym or wherever...
