Yes. That young woman is one of the very best, well meaning, be nice, works with kids with MH issues, is up in arms about violence aganst women... but can't bear to see that transwomen are men!

I don't know her but colleagues know of her in shared work platforms. She is a lovely, caring, warm hearted, uber-woke young woman.

WarriorN · 24/01/2022 11:28

@Imnobody4

This is the poster. It's political not transphobic in any way. I hope she sues.

Need to point out it was reported in November.

There may have been others reported since

That's the issue isn't it with these well meaning caring be kind types; so many think they're doing the right thing.

KittenKong · 24/01/2022 11:31

‘Doing the Right thing’? Nah - Looks like an excuse to indulge in bubbling misogyny that has never been too deep below the surface.

Thirtytimesround · 24/01/2022 11:36

In the same week that Britain lectures the Taliban about how to treat women, British police drag disabled woman with mental health issues out of her home in the middle of the night, twist her arms painfully, invade her home and steal her stickers, imprison and interrogate her for a while then kick her out on the street to make her own way home at 3am.

But if you’re a man living in Downing Street, you can party all night in a lockdown and the police on the doorstep listening to tbe party music will look the other way.

😭

Curious says she knows of the woman who reported that particular poster in nov and that she's well meaning but woke.

ignorance is indefensible but I'd feel very uncomfortable about a misplaced back lash against a young person who has been brought up to believe lies and falsehoods, supported by universities, charities, policies, the media and even the government.

The poster identified upthread is, as far as I know, an ardent women's rights supporter. That's the context my colleagues know her (they all work for young people and women's centres).

But she is also one of the unthinking TWAW, be nice, persuasion. And young. Working with young people. Her work life bubble is very young and disrupted.

My colleagues are all far older and find young women like her inexplicable. Which is the only reason I know of her - as they discuss SM and other equally inexplicable things!

Gwent Police: where senior officers involved in a sexual assualt face no charges.

happydappy2 · 24/01/2022 12:43

awful on so many levels. Why was the search warrant issued? Why the need for an arrest, especially late at night? Why confiscate her phone?
Why not drive her home FFS at 3.30am?

Statement from Merched Cymru - grassroots women's group in Wales. Even on the basis of these bare facts, this is chilling behaviour by the police. Misogynistic bullies.

Soubriquet · 24/01/2022 12:46

Oh no! Not the stickers! Anything but the stickers!

Give me robbery, rape, murder, assault but anything but the stickers!

Hmm

The absolute fuckers Angry

Did it make the bully boys feel big, manhandling a woman who needs a disability scooter and had one arm in a splint?!

Waitwhat23 · 24/01/2022 12:49

'The scale and secrecy of Welsh police force misconduct has been revealed for the first time in an investigation byThe National.

Our analysis shows that a disturbing proportion of recent police force dismissals related to significant abuses of power, physical violence and sex offences – and demonstrated a concerning lack of transparency.

These findings come in the wake of UK-wide revelations about police misconduct that have shaken public trust in forces, and raised questions about institutional misogyny.'

Debit card at the ready

yourhairiswinterfire · 24/01/2022 13:14

The hypocrites posted this is November.

They promise to never remain silent about male violence against women.....but they'll arrest disabled women who won't remain silent about it for a ''hate crime''.

And to prove how much they really, really care about women's safety, they'll put that woman who has her arm in a splint out on the streets at 3:30am once they've done with her, to make her own way home on a disability scooter in the middle of winter without a phone.

🤬🤬

Good to see this statement, and the support Jen is getting. Outrage on Twitter is mounting with Fair Cop and Glinner also picking it up. The thought of a disabled women being held in a windowless room for 11 hours with no phone or watch (both taken away), is dreadful. Why on earth did Gwent Police felt the need to detain her, and then release her onto the streets of Newport in her disability scooter to make her own way home at 3.30am without her phone - truly unbelievable.

I cant help wondering if Gwent Police are operating a 'shock and awe' approach to frighten Welsh Women into silence. it is indeed chilling, but we are far from done in defending our rights.

I'm just reading these. On tweeter copied in Jessica Morden (MP for Newport East) to bring awareness to (I assume) the ridiculousness of it and she has said thank you and retweeted the tweet from Gwent Police warning people of the "offensive" posters!
