Jennifer Swayne has been arrested on charges of vandalism, ‘hate crimes’ and public order offences. Police searched her house and removed several sheets of stickers.

I'm paraphrasing from her update but that's what she says she's been charged with.

This is apparently one of her posters on the left.

The others are around Cardiff which is near Newport.

She sounds chipper at the moment but she's disabled enough to need a mobility scooter, has bipolar, been awake all night and missed some medication timings. She says they twisted her arms behind her back which was painful and triggered a ptsd attack.

'Police searched her house and removed several sheets of stickers.'

This may be the best/worst thing I read today.

Noisyneighneigh · 24/01/2022 07:31

Welcome to 1984 ladies.

WarriorN · 24/01/2022 07:31

The cartoon in the poster on the right is angling a gun at the viewer and saying something about "terfs"

Datun · 24/01/2022 07:42

Placemarking. Hoping to god the press get hold of this.

STFU is what it says, which taken with the image of the gun is quite obviously a threat of violence. There is nothing playful or fanciful about replying to someone saying something you don't like with an image of a gun pointing out of the screen, accompanied by aggressive swearing. I have reported that image to Twitter innumerable times, but they do very little about this kind of thing. Also of course not bothered in the slightest about accounts openly promoting incest and 'MAP'. Twitter moderation is appalling.

So they put a disabled women in a half nelson, kept her awake until 1:30am when they interviewed her then turfed her out onto the street at 3:30am to make her way home on a disability scooter? Oh and searched her house.

Whilst ignoring stickers and posters on the same area that threaten women?

Where do I even start with this. The newspapers need to pick this up.

I can’t believe she had to make her own way home at 3 in the morning ShockAngry

Agree re the national press - I hope Janice is reading.

As for the other poster - very nasty.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 24/01/2022 08:27

I'm gob smacked.

So, someone is putting up inoffensive misogynistic stickers in Newport too? And Jennifer has been countering this with stickers telling people about MVAWG because the press don't cover it?

It's like West Side Story, only one gang has blue hair and chiquita banana and the other is a single older woman armed with pink lady apple labels?

Fucking hell.

TheGreatATuin · 24/01/2022 08:42

Holy shit. That is bad.

TheGreatATuin · 24/01/2022 08:43

If she's on here, just want to mention I'll be first in line to throw a few pounds into a fundraiser for legal fees if needed.

WeeBisom · 24/01/2022 08:45

So the police arrest disabled women for protesting male violence, and women who attend a vigil for a young woman murdered by police… if only they were so thorough in arresting the men who kill two women a week in the U.K.

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 24/01/2022 08:49

Happy to dig for legal representation.

ArabellaScott · 24/01/2022 08:51

Can one FOI for the reason for a search warrant?

ArabellaScott · 24/01/2022 08:52

Investigation into police misogyny and consistent persecution of women now.

Same.
DialSquare · 24/01/2022 09:15

I'm absolutely fuming about this. I'm another waiting in the wings with a shovel. I suspect a crowd funder for this could break all previous records.

Me too.
Gumbomambo · 24/01/2022 09:21

I’m reading this and I can’t believe it. Surely this can’t be true? There must be more to it? The poor poor lady. I desperately hope she is ok, this is sickening.

Vanishun · 24/01/2022 09:22

How the FUCK is that a proportionate police response?

They treated her like a knife-wielding pub brawler who'd been attacking people - instead of a disabled old lady putting stickers on things.

There was no need for an arrest, a late night holding cell, or any of this.

This is just men hating women.

How do we complain?

FOJN · 24/01/2022 09:23

Shovel at the ready.

Hope Jennifer is OK, she's been treated appallingly.

Signalbox · 24/01/2022 09:27

I hope she had the advice of a solicitor and no commented when interviewed.

Far worse. No knife-wielding pub brawler generally will have a warrant issued to search their house.
Lordamighty · 24/01/2022 09:42

This is so outrageous it’s almost unbelievable. Gwent police have totally lost their minds.

PaleGreenGhost · 24/01/2022 09:43

Aghast. Furious. But not surprised. The police aren't really that fussed about trans people. Whoever signed off this warrant was just continuing with their usual daily misogyny, forgetting they're supposed to use transexuals as a smoke screen to convince the masses they're progressive now.
