Stumbled accross this on twitter. Matt Walsh, an American political commentator is on a chat show and confronts transactivist to define a woman and tells him that he is appropriating womanhood.

Then after being told that he has 'traumatised' the activists... He provides this response!!

Wow. He says sh*t straight.... Haha!

This thread is fascinating.

And very illuminating.

So that's good imo.

NotBadConsidering · 22/01/2022 08:10

How is it not about school rape? Given the multiple posts about school rape?!

Because this is the question you haven’t answered:

Do you or do you not think it’s a good thing that Matt Walsh brought the horrible events in Loudoun County to wider prominence on a TV show with a huge audience?

@CheeseMmmm

Vv apologies.

Weirdos. Not freaks.

Not sure how that happened in my brain!

Totally weirdos is vv different kettle of fish.

Obv my posts stand. I don't use weirdos either.

A different lyric? I'm a freak. I'm a weirdo. ohohhhh. What the hell am I doing here? Etc.

Loved that tune. Dance floor rammed when came on. Happy days...

I’ll have what she’s having!

No you haven’t. Show me where. Or repeat it.

I think Matt Walsh makes excellent points about trans ideology. He is unafraid to tell the Emperor that he's not wearing any clothes and you can see the effect in the activists' responses. They can't handle the truth because they can't believe anyone would say it. They are so used to affirmation that the truth sounds brazen, bigoted and shocking whereas truth is just truth, it doesn't change according to your feelings.

I have to say that there are some bigoted opinions coming out here and in general I stay away from feminist movements because of it. As other posters have said, what matters is not who you are but what you say and whether your arguments stand up to scrutiny. So what that Matt is a man debating "What is a woman"? So what that he's right wing? To assume he's to be dismissed because of these characteristics is bigoted. Same with Posie Parker. MW has consistently fought against gender ideology, largely motivated by his love for his children and seeing what is happening to other children these days. He is standing up against a wave of activism and in my opinion, just like with JKR, deserves support and recognition for doing so. His videos are predominantly about trans ideology impacting children from what I've seen and the more this is spoken about the more girls will be saved from double mastectomies and infertility before they're old enough to drink. Any male right winger will have my full support with that mission, especially one that says playing with dolls does not make you a girl it makes you a boy who plays with dolls. Pretty sure the left said that about 30 years ago?! But suddenly he's the bad guy for being conservative.

NotBadConsidering · 22/01/2022 08:35

And the reason I’ve been so dogged on this Cheese is because it speaks volumes. There are only two possibilities in why you won’t answer that question.

The first is that you agree with what Walsh has said but can’t bring yourself to say so, which speaks volumes of the fear that has been instilled by those who wish to perpetuate the fake link between those who have GC views and the US far right. TRAs have scored a win there.

Or alternatively, you don’t agree with what Walsh has said and the attention he has brought on the issue simply because of who he is, which speaks volumes to the modern day trend of truth being superseded by identity politics.

I don’t expect an answer anymore. This thread has been illuminating, but perhaps we disagree on what has been illuminated.

This is the Left in US politics. The Good Guys apparently

LondonWolf · 22/01/2022 08:38

Well conservatives are all evil and stupid aren't they? No matter what the left do, no matter how violent, damaging, dangerous or hateful they still get given the benefit of the doubt because no matter what, Left Is Best even when they're dismantling societal norms and trying to force everyone to go along with them and viciously punishing those who won't, they're Still In The Right and conservatives are scum. Worrying lack of balance.

MalagaNights · 22/01/2022 08:40

It was The Daily Wire that Matt Walsh works for that first exposed the Loudon story.

They put an investigative reporter in there to look at the story when the mainstream media were just reporting on the violent dad being arrested.

They blew it wide open. So mainstream media then had to pick it up.

And then Youngkin won Virginia.

If you hate right wing politics you shouldn't be raging against Matt Walsh you should be raging against all the left wing politicians and media not saying what he's prepared to say, because unless they do, we're heading for Donald Trump #2.

nolongersurprised · 22/01/2022 08:40

I agree. He has a wife and four children and although he isn’t being threatened in the same way at JKR- no rape or death threats that I’ve seen - there have been some vile posts. The wave of activism is definitely strong and it takes courage to call it out.

Bringing sunlight to it will only be helpful, ultimately, for our own daughters. I never understood so of the purity spirals re Posie Parker here as well.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 22/01/2022 08:44

@NotBadConsidering you deserve a shiny for persisting with that.

Thank you for your service, ma'am.

DoubleTweenQueen · 22/01/2022 08:44

I'm more focused on the message than who said it - didn't know who he was before this. But he clearly has a platform and is unafraid to speak the plain truth, and that came across quite powerfully both in the Dr Phil discussion, and in his response to complaints from one of the panelists, subsequently. It's probably because he is right wing conservative Christian stance that he didn't feel it necessary to pull any punches, and that response to the panelist after the show was very powerful and clear. It couldn't have been any more to the point. And I haven't witnessed anyone coming even close to daring to say what he said but wish more would push back as strongly - because if they had, we wouldn't be where we are. And I'm trying to talk sense to my school at the moment and it is a ridiculous situation.
So I am able to applaud the message

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/01/2022 08:45

The election was, incidentally, won by Youngkin, the Republican

Which many left wing commentators pretty much blamed on the media attention on the young girl who was raped, and by extension the girl herself.

MalagaNights · 22/01/2022 08:45

Matt Walsh and the Daily Wire also campaign against critical race theory being taught in schools.

Youngkin spoke against this and won in Virginia.

The right have seen that parents will vote against this stuff.
The left need to wake up.

YY. That's why it was so powerful. People aren't used to anyone coming out with that plain truth. It's the same reason KJK gets lots of positive comments when she goes on TV from people not used to this debate.

"If you hate right wing politics you shouldn't be raging against Matt Walsh you should be raging against all the left wing politicians and media not saying what he's prepared to say, because unless they do, we're heading for Donald Trump #2. "

Absofuckinglutely

nolongersurprised · 22/01/2022 08:54

They blew it wide open. So mainstream media then had to pick it up

The scary thing is that that the Left preferred to blame the father, deny that the rape and happened and therefore ultimately exposed another girl to harm by quietly moving the boy to another school and not disclosing what had happened. They preferred to do this than admit that yes, a boy in a skirt had violently raped (anally and forcible fellatio) a girl in the girls’ bathrooms.

And when the girl’s father tried to point out that yes, boys in girls’ bathrooms was a problem, he was arrested and when his top rode up as he was being dragged on the floor, pictures of him were circulated on line and he was mocked for being overweight.

Yet, some posters here are saying - wait - this person exposing this is the wrong one and we need to wait for someone else, someone whose political views are exemplary. How many Loudoun Counties need to happen while we wait?

rabbitwoman · 22/01/2022 08:59

*CheeseMmmm

I have zero idea what JB or AC have to do with this thread at all.*

Because their influence and advice has been accepted without examining their other highly suspect credentials, whereas GC commentators must be absolutely impeccable.

I often refer to buck angel, and get the reply, 'but he is a PORN actor!!'

Or baroness Nicholson... 'but she voted against gay marriage'

I am happy to examine and subsequently dismiss the credentials of all commentators, ending up only listening to those with the purest provenance, but who do you think that will leave?

Aimee Challenor or Keira bell?
Caitlin jennee or jk Rowling?
Kathleen sock or grace lavery?
Sharon Davies or Veronica ivy?

nolongersurprised · 22/01/2022 09:07

One thread I remember from here was about Posie Parker and it went on for ages, with a few posters vilifying her for her lack of acceptable feminism and how she went on right wing platforms to get her message across.

One poster was fixated how the UK academic GC feminists didn’t like her, and asked, “What happens if all disengage from her”.

One poster answered, “Nothing much” and it’s the same here really.

If we agree with someone about this, nothing bad happens. Ideally, everyone moves towards a common goal and then continues to disagree about other stuff.

turbonerd · 22/01/2022 09:07

I am just going to repeat that identity politics is a very unhealthy route to go down: it gave us D Trump as prez in the USA and most likely will do again.

It is not wise to split all things into Left or Right wing politics.
Especially not since both Left and Right in the US, and increasingly in the UK, are in reality rather right of centre (of what the rest of Europe consider Social Democracy).

It IS possibly to disagree on fundamentals, but still find middle ground on other issues. But not if every time someone opines differently to your values you just put your fingers in your ears and go LaLaLa.
Which it seems the US «left» and «right» has been doing to such an extent that we are looking at parody of political discourse. And probably the «right» started it, and it is difficult to take on anything from that side because they are extreme, but it is important to do still.

So even if Matt Walsh is a douche bag, he has valid and important points to make on this. And it is good that it aired on dr Phil.

nolongersurprised · 22/01/2022 09:09

And it is good that it aired on dr Phil

NotBadConsidering · 22/01/2022 09:25

@nolongersurprised

You’ll have to explain what The View is, some people have never heard of those multi-award winning chat shows watched by millions of people 😆😆.

I hope he does, but it’s a shame Barbara Walters doesn’t still present it. Walters is obviously extremely famous in her own right but did the now (in)famous first interview with Jazz Jennings.

IndigoToo · 22/01/2022 09:26

Re-reading this thread doesn’t make it any less bizarre. In fact, it reinforces that I wasn’t able to follow the tangential wanderings at all. What a trip that was - twice!

VelvetChairGirl · 22/01/2022 09:38

excellent, they will never define what a woman is because they know all their definitions are rampantly sexist stereotypes created by men to appeal to men.

rather then claim to identify as women they may as well claim to identify as a blow up doll as that would be more accurate to the image in their heads.
