He has written some books and has opinions that I would most certainly not agree with.
But if I were sat there on that show with that person trying to tell me that 'womanhood is woman is whoever says they are woman....' I would say exactly what he said. Or I would want to.
By the way, if someone asks me if I am trying to define who a woman is by their genitals, by their ability to have children, I say yes. Because that's what a woman is. And the consequences of that on women throughout the history of human kind have been so significant that it effects even those who have not had children (whether they chose that or not.)
If there is a whole movement of people trying to redefine the word woman as something that is not physically tangible, something that no one can actually quite put their finger on, who benefits? Not me. Not girls at skool who don't even know yet whether they can have children, whether they will want to have children, whether they will have the opportunity to have children but will certainly already be feeling the effects of mysogyny and sexism. Not the 12 year old girl being forced into a marriage she does not want before her fertility is clear. Not the child held down and mutilated by her trusted family members before she's ever even had sex.
Its such a weak, insulting argument and yet it seems to stop people in their tracks every time.... ' oh yes, TW ARE W because otherwise we are saying women who can't have children aren't real women....'
Here is a newsflash.... Lots of trans women have, and can still continue to have, children. By impregnating women with their penises.
