shame on me

No loopyapp. Not shame on you. Over a serious of threads many of us have tried to engage with barley but they still persist in their tactics of deflection, the look there’s a squirrel (‘sparple’ is the word for making something else a big deal rather than address what has been asked or is being discussed), the denigrations, the overblown rhetoric and the false equivalences.

However, loopy, everytime someone addresses these posts a new perspective is added for the benefit of those reading along, as we know they do. Something that cannot be said for the tired tropish posts of other posters intent on shaming posters discussing women’s and girl’s boundaries. It cannot be said of a poster determined to advocate for the lowering of those boundaries.

It is not shame on you for posting.

Any one reading barley’s posts will be thinking’why is this person so determined to lower the sexual boundaries and the safeguarding protocols for women and children?

They will think ‘exactly who benefits from doing this’? They will also look to historic events where children and women’s boundaries were lowered or ignored and they will know the answer.

Not to derail, but to show that the chilling effect of this kind of reporting is spreading, four of the members of the House of Lords were also subject to complaints after their speeches last week.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4459117-We-will-not-be-silenced-vow-peers-who-were-labelled-bigots-for-speaking-out-over-trans-prisoners

The more these reporting incidences occur, the more the issue is exposed. And the more that the extreme trans rights activists are shown to be totalitarian and completely hypocritical in their demand for tolerance.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 21/01/2022 08:26

No female prisoner in the UK has been raped by a trans woman. There have been a very small number of sexual assaults, most of them Karen White, and none since more stringent monitoring was introduced.

Karen White was in prison in the first place for raping a woman on a locked psychiatric ward. He raped her so violently that her injuries mean she will never be able to have children.

I think psychiatric wards should be single sex and stay single-sex. What do you think?

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 21/01/2022 08:35

Gotta love the new approach of "well, they weren't actually raped so what are you whining about". (This is sarcasm. I hate it.)

What is this, but a helter-skelter towards all the worst bits of the past? Women are now expected to endure sexual assault if no-one has forcibly penetrated them yet? What kind of turbo-charged misogyny is this?

Datun · 21/01/2022 09:14

Can I just clarify something? Despite being a gun toting, male born individual posting selfies in the bath, cross dressing in BDSM gear offering 'punishment', and asking people if they want to see 'more' than their boobs, girl guiding actually asked them to be a volunteer?

Is that right, Sulley was invited??

With objectors being reported to the police and whistle blowers fired.

Lovelyricepudding · 21/01/2022 09:18

There have been a very small number of sexual assaults

So they don't count? Those women don't matter? What about those living in fear of sexual assault or rape? After all half of the transgender prisoners ate in their for sexual assault and rape so they have form - it is not as if they are 'nice' men.

Lovelyricepudding · 21/01/2022 09:18

*are in there

Looks like it. Something stinks at the top of 'girl' guides
KittenKong · 21/01/2022 09:36

I assume it’s in the stonewall recommendations- to try to get people involved at different levels. I’m sure they thought hey were doing what they thought was the ‘right’ thing (by stonewall) and didn’t question it. I’m assuming it’s on some sort of scheme where there is a ranking?

I just don’t think they really thought it through.

I have worked in places where outside agencies and advisors have come in, and previously sensible and level-headed people have become utterly sucked in and seemed to lose any critical thinking.

@mammajustkilledagnat - is she not anonymous for this stuff?

I think she uses a nom, not her name?

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 21/01/2022 09:56

Conversations at cross purposes.

Andreia is a journalist for 4th Wave and writers there under her name. 4w.pub/police-contacts-women-girlguiding/

JL is an unknown contributor on Graham Linehan's blog who has quoted Andreia there.

Apologies, I had misunderstood who had authored the piece.

Oh, thanks, @PurgatoryOfPotholes. And, of course, to @mammajustkilledagnat for posting the article.

Looking at the GG website, they list their "inclusion specialists", most of whom appear to have personal experience of the issue they are advising on - rather than the expertise you might assume someone has when they are described as "specialist". Which is interesting.

Who is giving Guiding information on which their policies are based? Who thinks that the appropriate response to concerned parents emails is to pass them onto the police? Anyone with real expertise or an ounce of common fucking sense would understand why MS is not a good fit, and when it all blew up and expert would be able to manage the situation, not panic and call 999.

Applying Occam's Razor to this shit show would make me think that Guiding got into this mess because they rely on a network of well meaning enthusiastic volunteers with personal insight into LGBT+ issues, who have been good Stonewall students but have no critical thinking or wider knowledge, who remember homophobia from their youth and are keen to make GG welcoming for the girl they used to be.

GG President is Sophie Wessex. I wonder what she makes of this? The last thing her family need right now is being associated with a safe guarding drama.

As with all the other charities peddling this stuff (NSPCC, Barnardo's etc) there are two possible explanations. Either they are all extremely naive and gullible, as you suggest, or they have been taken over by people who are deliberately peddling this ideology for reasons we can all guess at.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 21/01/2022 11:07

Or both, @RoyalCorgi.

Smart peddlers groomed the naive and gullible?

ArabellaScott · 21/01/2022 11:39

I expect in a large organisation it will be a mix. How many volunteers/leaders does GG employ? It'll be thousands, won't it?

Artichokeleaves · 21/01/2022 11:43

Stonewalled. Which appears to now mean in terms of law and safeguarding, 'compromised beyond all hope'.

Since you may be arrested for questioning it, the answer now is if you see a Stonewall logo on something, don't touch it with a bloody bargepole. Particularly if it has anything to do with services for women or children.

AlexaShutUp · 21/01/2022 11:47

Surely the GG are shooting themselves in the foot with this approach? I always thought that their USP was that it was an organisation for women and girls only. If that has gone, I imagine they'll lose a lot of interest.

Helleofabore · 21/01/2022 11:51

Did I see that Monica has another Facebook account under the name of 'Monica Taylor' too? So, we have Monica Sulley, Monica Taylor and Monica Tetley (which barley assures us is a real name and NOT a reference to a sexual act because obviously some posters must know this person with their claims that the small girls are relatives etc).

Were all these names given for the DBS check?

Helleofabore · 21/01/2022 11:51

Sorry, including previous names before transition?

Thelnebriati · 21/01/2022 12:43

I thought people might like to re-read this thread from 2018, it has aged well. Anyone feel they are on the wrong side of history yet?

The question we always ask is How many women assaulted is too many?

Never get an answer because obviously putting a number on it shows how much they dont care about women.
