FWR (as I still think of it) is a very important corner of the Internet.

I read here almost daily, and the amount of information here is incredible - evidence, links to articles, tweets, feminist analysis, philosophical conversations, academic studies, court cases, judicial reviews, updates on previous cases... the list goes on and on. Personally it takes me time to keep up, let alone feel brave enough to comment Smile

At this time of the year, especially, I just thought it would be nice to create a little thread to say thank you to all the regular contributers from the ones like me, who read but rarely post. Thanks for the information, the wisdom, the challenging discussions and all the lovely dinosaur names!

Hopefully some more lurkers will join me so I'm not left languishing on this thread alone!

Thanks All, and lang may yer lum reek! Xmas Smile

Agreed! Has been a big part of my education. I've done a 180 on my views in the past 12 months, mainly because of these boards

AgathaMystery · 22/12/2021 19:30

Yes, thank you all very much. I am very much a lurker - getting braver though.

loopyapp · 22/12/2021 19:37

Me too. Complete 180. When I first came to MN I was a staunch defender of the TRA. Got myself into a few arguments with some of you, made a right tit of myself a few times. Then the JKR thing happened and I was like... huh??? Seriously what did she say that was wrong and it all sort of unravelled from there..

Now I'm GC, angry and ready for action.

ISaySteadyOn · 22/12/2021 19:43

Yep, not confident in my rhetorical abilities but quietly learning. Thank you all.

crosshatching · 22/12/2021 19:46

Yes, thank you all, I read and learn something new every day here.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 22/12/2021 19:50

Sort of a lurker - more often than not anyway - and thank you from me too! I may be quiet here but am sharing the word in my home life.

drum123 · 22/12/2021 19:50

I occasionally post but mostly lurk. I have learned so much from the regular intelligent and articulate posters and been able to drip feed information to friends who often find it all just too unbelievable until I give them the sources. Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.

fabricstash · 22/12/2021 19:50

Yes thank you! I have always been a feminist but this has given me new passion for defending women’s rights

TofuDelights · 22/12/2021 19:59

Drum - same here! I have been able to have a lot of conversations with people in real life based on things I've read here.

Thanks everyone for joining me here on the thread, as I seem to kill threads when I do comment!! Smile

I'll add my thanks. I'm a serial name changed, I post sometimes but I'm always amazed by the wealth of knowledge and critical thinking on this board. It makes me proud to be an adult human female.

DisappearingGirl · 22/12/2021 20:03

Same from me, also a mostly lurker

WorriedMumsDontSleep · 22/12/2021 20:03

Thank you. Wish I could get some of you to come to my house. I'm not very good at explaining the mess were in to my husband, who is sympathic but has difficulty understanding a lot of the batshittery.

Booboobadoo · 22/12/2021 20:04

I am massively grateful for stumbling across this forum and reading the intelligent, educated, thoughtful and compassionate views. Left to my own devices I think I would have continued to feel that something wasn't quite right, but be unable to articulate my concerns and be worried about not 'being kind' (though as I've found, it is unnecessary to be kind to women 🙄). I do spend a lot of time being angry and also despairing though!

sherlockdinner · 22/12/2021 20:04

Thank you from me too. I can discuss with a couple of very close friends but I work in a very woke environment Sad
I keep up to date reading this board.
Thank you all Flowers

MRB2 · 22/12/2021 20:05

Another grateful lurker here. Merry Christmas to all those wise posters.

samsalmon · 22/12/2021 20:06

Same here! You lot are brilliant!

specialmintapplecranberrysauce · 22/12/2021 20:06

I only discovered mumsnet this year, it was the F:S&G boards that caught my eye first. Quite of few us us, friends and the like, were struggling to find anyone with similar views - we found you here. Anonymous and safe to share our thoughts and fears about the whole crazy, dangerous phenomenon. I've felt validated to feel the way I feel and empowered to stand by my views - although not quite publicly in real life yet due to the huge career threat. Thank you.

WalkOnGildedSplinters · 22/12/2021 20:09

I'm always amazed by the wealth of knowledge and critical thinking on this board.

Me too. I wish there were equivalents to this board for other topics so I could learn and discuss to the same depth and breadth. I know there are in theory but none are really like it in practice.

LethargicActress · 22/12/2021 20:10

I’m another one. I’ve learned a huge amount from reading these pages, but am never well informed enough to post anything myself.

Thank you!

Crunched · 22/12/2021 20:13

Me too! I feel vastly ignorant in comparison to the posters in this topic but learn so much from your discussions.

Whatthechicken · 22/12/2021 20:15

I am extremely grateful to all of the wonderful women on here. I occasionally post, but what I’ve read and learned here has been invaluable. My interest peaked when I became a mum to two very vulnerable adopted children. The way I teach and guide my daughter and son is now very different to how it would have been if I’d not discovered the ‘naughty corner’ (and Magdalen Bernes). Thanks all.

partystress · 22/12/2021 20:16

Hear hear! Although these boards are sometimes depressing, the eloquence and intelligence that shines through in the regular contributors’ posts is always uplifting. I am openly GC with a few close friends, but have to avoid the topic with DS and DH, and would be in trouble at work if I challenged the Genderbread ideology, so this space helps reduce the isolation.

Whatthechicken · 22/12/2021 20:16

And… I’m getting braver every day. I sign stuff, challenge stuff, write to my MP and wear my t shirts with pride.

BoogieFeet · 22/12/2021 20:17

Yes, thank you from another lurker Xmas Smile

notaclownfish · 22/12/2021 20:17

Thank you! At times this year I have felt like I was losing my mind, and I would come here and be reassured that I was not alone, not crazy, and that the emperor is in fact stark bollock naked.
