FWR (as I still think of it) is a very important corner of the Internet.

I read here almost daily, and the amount of information here is incredible - evidence, links to articles, tweets, feminist analysis, philosophical conversations, academic studies, court cases, judicial reviews, updates on previous cases... the list goes on and on. Personally it takes me time to keep up, let alone feel brave enough to comment Smile

At this time of the year, especially, I just thought it would be nice to create a little thread to say thank you to all the regular contributers from the ones like me, who read but rarely post. Thanks for the information, the wisdom, the challenging discussions and all the lovely dinosaur names!

Hopefully some more lurkers will join me so I'm not left languishing on this thread alone!

Thanks All, and lang may yer lum reek! Xmas Smile

A huge thank you from me too.

ErrmWTAF · 26/12/2021 09:50

Thank you from me. I don't have the words, even now, but I'm so glad you posters do. Wishing you happy holidays, and a serene new year.

graywall · 26/12/2021 16:54

Thank you from me too

3beesinmybonnet · 26/12/2021 23:02

Thank you from another mostly lurker. I too am in awe of those posters on here who have taught me so much, and with such eloquence whilst I'm still trying to organise my limited collection of grunts, squeaks and burps into a sentence.
Wishing all of you a happy and successful New Year, and thanks OP for starting this thread.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 27/12/2021 00:31

What a fantastic thread Thanks

Whsper · 27/12/2021 03:10

Thanks from Australia! The babycenter au forum ain't got anything on mumsnet. The smallest whiff of biological reality gets you a permanent ban.

SallyLockheart · 27/12/2021 05:08

Thank you from me too.

BigBobBoots · 27/12/2021 14:00

Thank you from another lurker.

AdultHumanMale · 27/12/2021 15:51

Hesitated to join this vital internet space because I was ‘only’ a concerned stepfather and uncle. My first comment is just to thank everybody who has defended women and kids. Safeguarding FTW.

Acatcalledprince · 27/12/2021 16:13

It's another thank yoh from me. I don't post here very much anymore but because of mumsnet I was radicalised, joined twitter, then a feminist group and since then I've been involved in more direct action.

Cheers 🍻 to all you insightful and thrawn women!

TopCatsTopHat · 27/12/2021 16:26

I can't hold a candle to the informed articulate brilliant women who make this forum the amazing place it is. I can't think of anywhere else on the Internet where debate and critical thinking are even allowed and where it rarely deviates from that into personal-insult slinging. Without spaces like this the future is dead. Not just because opinions are allowed but because the oxygen of debate tests them and helps disseminate vital well thought out arguments. We need critical thinking. They're is nothing good in this world that has come from blindly following group think.
I have de-lurked occasionally but usually make a hash of it and don't retain facts well enough to be a valuable contributer.
But I come here often and it helps me discuss in real life these issues - constructively.
Thank you to all who contribute and speak for so many. The world needs you, I support you.

GrouchyKiwi · 27/12/2021 16:33

A huge thank you from me too. I mostly lurk, but occasionally feel outraged enough that I add a comment. I have learned so much from you all, and I also started from a position of "Be Kind", after supporting a friend through her transition.

But the issue of male bodies in women's sport made me think, and I came here and learned.

I'm also extremely thankful that you helped me open my husband's eyes to it all. At first he thought I was over-reacting, and he was tired of me grumping about issues like women's weightlifting. But every time something new and awful came up - like the Scottish Government being against Johann Lamont's 6-word amendment, like vulnerable women in prison being forced to share with rapists - your wise, angry, erudite posts showed him the issue and he now fights the good fight where he can.

Flowers Brew Gin for you all.

EdinburghFeminist · 27/12/2021 17:40

A huge thanks from me too to all the amazing posters on FWR. I’ve learned so much from you all and have used what I’ve learned to pass on to others not on here. Thanks also to @J0sephineMarch - you are an absolute hero on the BTL comments on The Times.
Thank you all!

CircusSands · 27/12/2021 22:38

I very occasionally comment but mainly lurk. I'm learning so much and my eyes have been opened. Thank you!

HMBB · 27/12/2021 22:54

Another long time lurker who really admires the clear thinking and eloquent posters who have taught me so much - thank you

AuntyBumBum · 27/12/2021 23:28

Many thanks to all Xmas Smile

Bowednotbroken · 28/12/2021 19:16

Adding thanks from yet another mostly lurker but very occasional poster. This is a space, and you are posters, I value tremendously. And Jo March - your comments are brilliant, thank you. Bit late to wish a happy Christmas so a very good new year to you all. Thank you!

JayAlfredPrufrock · 28/12/2021 23:36

Still Spartacus.

Cleanmean · 28/12/2021 23:57

Lurker and occasional poster. These threads are the only reason I visit mn these days. Thank you.

TofuDelights · 31/12/2021 21:40

Happy New Year from the lurkers!! At least we know there are loads of us now!!

Cheers to the regulars and let's hope that me, and lots more of us, feel up to joining in the conversation more regularly.

Heartfelt thanks to you all. 🥂

Thanks from another lurker - I've learnt so much & become brave enough to write to my MP. Happy New Year all!

Furries · 01/01/2022 00:27

@TurquoiseBaubles

Thank you from me too.

I post infrequently and only when I completely lose my temper and am pushed beyond keeping quiet. I'm very aware that while my posts are frustrated ejaculations many posters spend hours and days quietly and patiently pointing out facts and archiving links.

Flowers and [ribbons] to them all.

(has anyone thought of asking mnhq for a suffragette ribbon - surely it would be just as relevant on here as a stupid Bear or an occasional Football or Glitterball )

I came to type this pretty much word for word! I read posts with gratitude for the wealth of information.

I, too, only tend to post when something particularly annoys me - I know I can get a bit “ranty” and and I don’t have much patience with some types of posts.

Happy New Year everyone.

DrDinosaur · 01/01/2022 00:46

I’ve been lurking for years under various names, rarely post, usually because I feel more eloquent posters have already said everything.
Thank you to all the brilliant posters here, who have created one of the most intelligent corners of the internet.
Happy new year to you all 🍾🍾🍾

CrossPurposes · 01/01/2022 01:30

Happy New Year to all the women who can articulate what is wrong better than me!
