FWR (as I still think of it) is a very important corner of the Internet.

I read here almost daily, and the amount of information here is incredible - evidence, links to articles, tweets, feminist analysis, philosophical conversations, academic studies, court cases, judicial reviews, updates on previous cases... the list goes on and on. Personally it takes me time to keep up, let alone feel brave enough to comment Smile

At this time of the year, especially, I just thought it would be nice to create a little thread to say thank you to all the regular contributers from the ones like me, who read but rarely post. Thanks for the information, the wisdom, the challenging discussions and all the lovely dinosaur names!

Hopefully some more lurkers will join me so I'm not left languishing on this thread alone!

Thanks All, and lang may yer lum reek! Xmas Smile

I have already thanked. Now wishing happiness in the new year

NonnyMouse1337 · 01/01/2022 02:26

I absolutely love this thread. I've been trying to catch up with all the posts in it for days. Finally read every single one, and I don't think I could add anything else that hasn't already been said.

I'm so touched there are so many lurkers who have been inspired by the articulate and knowledgeable women on FWR. Really grateful that the regular posters take the time to reply to threads and even interact with the time wasters because it does make a difference to those quietly reading it all.

I've learned so much from the level of intelligent debate here. Happy new year to all. 🎉♥️ Xmas Smile

Not so much a lurker as an "occasional pop in an and out"er but thanks to all the regulars who explain the complexities of court cases, tribunals, the Equality Act, various bits of Government guidance and all the other factors that feed into this issue. Your contributions have really helped me to get my head around what's been going on over the last few years.

Happy New Year to you all, both posters and lurkers alike.

KiloWhat · 01/01/2022 08:10

Lurker here, I don't really understand or follow a lot of it as only recently stumbled across this corner but every so often something comes up that gets me questioning things and so thank you all for sharing your arguments.

AliceThorpe · 01/01/2022 09:11

@ISaySteadyOn

Yep, not confident in my rhetorical abilities but quietly learning. Thank you all.
Exactly this.

I was fully onboard with the TRA thing until they said JKR said something transphobic. I knew she is a intelligent, compassionate woman so I checked what she said and then checked the facts and was appallled at all of which I was not previously aware.

Lovely thread and big thank you from me to all who post here. I de-lurked in response to a similar thread a few years back. Mumsnet FWR is the place to come to ask the obvious questions that pop up in response to genderideology that we somehow find that we are uncomfortable asking outloud in the non virtual world. Kind of amazing that this happened in countries with freedom of speech and expression and so fast. Mumsnetters give me hope that there is push back against this. That there are people who will always stand up and say "no" or "why?" or "I don't understand". Big love to you all and Flowers @J0 and to all the regular posters and lovely lurkers.

TofuDelights · 01/01/2022 19:46

Thanks Nonny, coming from a regular poster that means a lot! Thank you again to everyone who has posted here, it's been lovely to see you all Smile

I was also a lurker. I mostly hung out on AIBU or Chat but lurked a bit here. Now I'm usually to be found on GC Twitter.

BeBraverToday · 01/01/2022 20:50

Thank you from another lurker. I have learnt so much in the past year.

Idkillforadoughnut · 01/01/2022 21:24

@HMBB

Another long time lurker who really admires the clear thinking and eloquent posters who have taught me so much - thank you
Ditto. Thank you. Daffodil
ChattyLion · 01/01/2022 21:37

Thank you to all you lurkers, occasional posters and regulars on this lovely thread. It’s great to know we are so many and I learn so much from everyone’s posts. Flowers

LightningJenny · 01/01/2022 21:40

If I hadn't found this forum I'd have gone quietly insane I think! Thanks to everybody who has been brave enough to speak freely - I am also now on 'GC' Twitter.

MMBaranova · 01/01/2022 21:55

I used to be on here some time ago with a former name. I deleted when I found I crossed lines using what to me seemed honest sensible language. I've lurked off and on though and recently made a fresh account.

Thank you all those who keep the flame burning and who provide so much sane information.

buckeejit · 01/01/2022 22:47

Adding my thanks here too-your hard work & thoughtful contributions are much appreciated. After many years absorbing g the info I've felt freer to go public with my thoughts & grateful not to have to risk much for it as many others do.

Thank you fir your work!

Tobogganist · 01/01/2022 23:00

Thank you so much for the enlightenment. Eternally grateful for all the work that has gone before. Endless learning from these threads. The cause continues.

Marylou62 · 07/01/2022 19:29

I missed this thread at the time.. I've been lurking on these threadsfor ages and so wanted to post but I stumble over how to say and explain my thoughts.. All the above PP have put it so much better than me.. Thank you so much..

IamAporcupine · 11/02/2022 23:26

Bumping for all the lurkers peaking after reading a very enlightening thread Grin

-------
Thank you @TofuDelights, I many times thought of starting a similar thread.

I too started as a kind TWAW. I remember reading some of the threads here and thinking 'you' were all transphobic blah blah blah. I even posted a couple of times and probably made a full of myself. But I kept reading and reading and reading, until the blinders came off. And that was it.

Thank you so much to all the posters for sharing your knowledge Flowers.

TofuDelights · 12/02/2022 10:18

Thanks Porcupine, I've just finished reading the latest updates on That Thread, speechless!! I'm in awe of all the regulars, as ever!!
