FWR (as I still think of it) is a very important corner of the Internet.

I read here almost daily, and the amount of information here is incredible - evidence, links to articles, tweets, feminist analysis, philosophical conversations, academic studies, court cases, judicial reviews, updates on previous cases... the list goes on and on. Personally it takes me time to keep up, let alone feel brave enough to comment Smile

At this time of the year, especially, I just thought it would be nice to create a little thread to say thank you to all the regular contributers from the ones like me, who read but rarely post. Thanks for the information, the wisdom, the challenging discussions and all the lovely dinosaur names!

Hopefully some more lurkers will join me so I'm not left languishing on this thread alone!

Thanks All, and lang may yer lum reek! Xmas Smile

Another lurker checking in to say thank you. I have learned a great deal, and I am grateful.

unwashedanddazed · 23/12/2021 01:50

I rarely post, but I read here every day. It's an oasis of sanity and I'm extremely grateful for it, both to the contributors and mnhq for hosting when most social media companies are simply too cowardly.

MenoMom · 23/12/2021 01:55

Thanks from me too - this is a brilliant resource, I've used information i've read here to talk to friends a few (safe!) colleagues in work - when they say that men in women's prisons, men in women's sports teams, men in refuges doesn't really happen i have the evidence that yes it does, it has and it will continue, and it has to be addressed or women will suffer.

I am (I think!) a nice person but definately rejecting Be Kind as a mantra aimed at women - it's not my role to validate anyone else, i don't have to believe what they believe about themselves, no more that i have to share the beliefs of my Muslim, Christian or Jewish neighbours.

My boss is very woke so I'm expecting her to suggest pronouns on email signatues soon and have lots of evidence from this site on why it's not in my interest to do that as a woman.

So a big thanks to all the active posters on this site!

May I be the first to shout 'Bunbury'?

I'd love Mumsnet HQ to give some stats on this thread. Individual posters numbers, for a start.

WhatyoutalkingaboutWillis · 23/12/2021 06:58

It's my safe space and I thank you all for it. Merry Christmas to you all x

missfliss · 23/12/2021 07:03

Another voice of thanks.

Sitting here with Material Girls by Dr Kathleen Stock next to me.

Bought as a result of these threads.

Mostly lurker here too, eternally grateful for the knowledge and wisdom on this board. I’ve been coming here for years and while I used to feel like it was all quite complicated and I couldn’t marshal the arguments in my head sufficiently well to articulate them, I can now thanks to the women who post here and have thought about every aspect of this subject. They opened my eyes to the total incoherence of gender ideology. I kept expecting to find substance to at least some of the TRA arguments, thought I was missing something. Nope. The substance, the intellectual honesty, is all here on this board.

TimTeleporter · 23/12/2021 07:13

♥️

Morasssassafras · 23/12/2021 07:20

Agreed. Thank you all. I've taken what I've learned here and helped open a few eyes offline.

TimTeleporter · 23/12/2021 07:29

@NoNotMeNoSiree

sad to say I've name changed to say this Why would you feel the need to name change though? Just like I wouldn't want to see a racist comment, thinking they could just say what they like because free speech and all that. Why is that any different? There's still a line. If you haven't passed it, why are you hiding?
Because they don't want to be stalked and harassed by trans rights activists. As you well know, despite the faux innocence, being a trans rights activist yourself.

It is lovely to know so many people lurking here. Listening and learning. I expect that knowledge warms the cockles of your heart, Smile

BarryTheChopper · 23/12/2021 07:35

Another lurker saying thank you.

I am more active on Twitter than I am on here but this is where I learnt about what is happening and how it threatens women’s rights. I have known several trans people over the years, so I’d only ever thought about it before in terms of individuals I’d liked.

I read this forum daily, I will start trying to post more.

Doyouthinkeirsaurus · 23/12/2021 07:35

Mostly lurk, but have found that FWR gives me knowledge and therefore confidence to raise questions at work and with organisations.
Have been to meetings, FiLiA, stickered, spoken to friends, this board has reignited my feminism.
countrypunk I am so sorry to hear that you have lost a friendship group.
Thank you to everyone who posts (and those who don’t) Gin Xmas Smile

NewlyCat · 23/12/2021 07:39

Adding my thanks as well - I'm so appreciative and grateful for all the knowledge, wisdom, humour and resilience on this board. Thank you all Flowers

FedUpWithBriiiiick · 23/12/2021 07:40

Mostly lurker here! Thank you, FWR boards, for articulating what I think, feel, believe and KNOW!

Outwiththenorm · 23/12/2021 07:43

Thank you from me too. Using the information I read here to inform DH, friends and family members, slowly slowly.

Charliesgotachocolatefactory · 23/12/2021 07:45

Yes thank you from me too. Thanks to all the discussions here, I felt confident enough to engage doorstep canvassers in the Scottish election about it. Obviously I just got a woolly version of ‘be kind’ in reply, but I was so pleased I’d spoken up.

Thelikelylass · 23/12/2021 07:51

Yes thanks, this is a safe place for facts and common sense. I come here to get my daily dose of sanity. I saw a FB post this week that had me raging, a 'mutual' (MALE of course) who posted about 'launching' anyone that was supporting JKR. If I had been in the pub with this dickhead I would have reeled off all the recent cases where women have been threatened, lost jobs, been cancelled for simply stating facts. I can't so I calmed down and remembered that we have US! thanks to all of you for doing your very best, there is a war against women out there and I feel we are like an underground (and increasingly overground) resistance. Merry Christmas to you all.

Syeknom · 23/12/2021 08:00

Thank you.
I really appreciate all the links to original sources from both sides. These threads have opened my eyes that these are important topics that need critical thought and discussion rather than blanket acceptance because someone told you that you should just be kind.

DialSquare · 23/12/2021 08:03

How ironic that the one poster who's lack of coherent argument and pointless posts, cemented my GC views whilst lurking,i s now on the lurkers thread thanking the complete opposite posters on here.

Bellablahhole · 23/12/2021 08:11

Adding my thanks to all of the brilliant contributors to this board. I continue to learn so much from these discussions Xmas Smile

TheElementsSong · 23/12/2021 08:12

Thanks from me too!

Adventsquirrel · 23/12/2021 08:17

Thanks from me too. I've learned a huge amount from posters on here. I'm jobhunting currently so have to be very careful about posting anything public, but I've had many interesting private conversations about the issues. The information I've learned here has helped to counter the 'why does it matter?' and 'be kind' comments.

Blackandwhitehorse · 23/12/2021 08:27

Thank you so much everyone. The women here have given me the confidence to fight back when faced with TWAW - I’ve learned to ask what is a woman, and never had a coherent answer! Merry Christmas to my fellow witches 🧙‍♀️

TofuDelights · 23/12/2021 08:33

So many lovely comments on the thread, thanks so much everyone!

I think some comments help even when it's not the commentator's intention.

Anyway Merry Christmas all! Xmas Smile
