Kellie Jay ranting against feminists.

A split?

Posie has always been non feminist. Very clear about it too. Just as she was very clear who she was talking in that video.

Doesn't mean she is not for women's rights, clearly!

So no. No split. Just Posie doing what Posie does. And I don't expect to agree with her on everything, why would anyone?

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 17/12/2021 12:28

You enjoyed posting that, didn’t you. Can’t have a split in something that doesn’t exist. We are not one movement. We are many different people from different walks of life, different political parties and with different life experiences. Some of what we each care about overlaps.

Hope that helps.

titchy · 17/12/2021 12:29

I hate to break it to you OP, but women are not one hive mind. They are individual people with, careful now, their own opinions and everything

I know right.

PronounssheRa · 17/12/2021 12:29

Is it in response to this twitter.com/ruthserwotka/status/1471437872813293569

Exactly. Whatevs. It ultimately won't stop any of us doing what we do.

Some people don't get on. Big whoop.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 17/12/2021 12:32

Good to see OP, that you're keeping up with the wonderful range of different intelligent women, all discussing our varied views on matters relating to women's rights.
Evidently the fact that women have a variety of nuanced views is a real education for you. Grin

altforvarmt · 17/12/2021 12:33

The women speaking up for women's rights are a really broad church. That's a strength, not a weakness.

I'd be more concerned if we all parroted the same mantras and condemned those who didn't comply. But that's the modus operandi of the TRAs, isn't it?

EMotion · 17/12/2021 12:36

Not quite going as planned, OP?

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 17/12/2021 12:37

Yes, the domesticated zombies comment.

You can see why Posie went all out at her

Findwen · 17/12/2021 12:37

This is a common failing on the internet.

Most people on here are not fans of Pretti Patel, but I am sure most people are fans of her policy that crimes are recorded by the sex of the offender.

It's like the big 'gotcha' that Donald Trump Jr retweeted JKRs excellent piece the other day... it really isn't a 'gotcha'. There is overlap between all sorts of walks of life - doesn't mean I with agree because of odious person agrees with and we both also happen to agree on .

It's just a very juvenile way of thinking. It's not about one person, it's about safety of all women.

namitynamechange · 17/12/2021 12:40

I don't like the way the word "ranting" every time a woman expresses an opinion which isn't about fluffy kittens. Regardless (shockingly) of whether or not I agree with said opinions or not Shock

No, there was a bit about a cute puppy.

Findwen, you make a good point.

Oh dear. A split.
Artichokeleaves · 17/12/2021 12:47

Oh for goodness sake, how many more times.

There is no hive mind. No group think. Just a lot of diverse people with diverse opinions who can actually cope with not being agreed with and having different ideas. And who believe reality is a thing. In their various diverse ways.

There is no 'split' because that would mean there was some kind of team or group or unity or catechism of belief. There is not. There really is not. This is really odd thinking, that's based on having to stuff everyone in boxes at all times to be able to cope, and it's not healthy.

namitynamechange · 17/12/2021 12:51

Yes, and if she'd stuck to the cute puppy all would have been well. But Alas she discussed other matters. To the horror of passing vicars and small children. If a man had said similar things in the same (even, not raised) tone of voice he may well have been criticised, but he would have been less likely to be described as ranting.

allmywhat · 17/12/2021 12:52

If I was OP and I found that the people who disagree with me were extraordinarily diverse in their opinions and attitudes and disagree with each other frequently, while the people who appear to agree with me are constantly terrified of saying the wrong thing and march in narrow lockstep…

I’d be questioning whether I was really on the right side of history.

But then, if OP was inclined towards questioning they’d have a different set of ideas.

It needed posting because it is just as relevant as any other post on here. I am of independent mind and not easily persuaded by anyone telling me what I should think.

You may be interested in the psychological meaning of split/splitting OP:

Signs of psychological splitting:

Thinking in complete opposites or absolutes.
People are either good or bad.
Not accepting of other’s views.
Idolising individuals, then condemning them.
Raising one’s own esteem by belittling others who think differently.
Constantly changing one’s mind over important issues.
Employing a changeable perspective of others.
Switching allegiance quickly.

RoyalCorgi · 17/12/2021 12:56

I don't think it's a great idea for people on our side of the argument to fall out publicly.

But being attacked for it by a TRA is a bit much. These are people whose name for post-operative transsexuals is "truscum".

Methinks the OP doth protest too much Grin Grin

That is a hilarious take.

No. No split. KJK has been vocally independent for a very long time. As have others.

By the sounds of it OP, you support KJK's position (supported by many others) as an independent thinker.

Doesn't mean that she does not support feminist values. Many people don't call themselves feminists but would probably be viewed as being feminists because of our values (yes, I don't call myself a feminist, but I am certainly a huge supporter of the rights of all females so probably am one. I just don't like labels.)

So, this is in no way any 'gotcha'. She has been saying this for at least two years since I have been watching her videos.

334bu · 17/12/2021 13:01

OP, how do you view the ideas espoused by Ruth, that stay at home mothers are domesticated zombies and that transwomen are on a journey to womanhood?

PronounssheRa · 17/12/2021 13:01

I am of independent mind and not easily persuaded by anyone telling me what I should think.

It may surprise you, but most people are of independent mind, which is why you will find people who may agree on one issue will disagree on others. Kellie Jay and Ruth disagreeing, isn't news nor a surprise.
