@MargaritaPie

"Well we’re not allowed to say ‘man’ when they identify as a woman, are we"

Is it really too much for JK Rowling and others to use the term transwomen? Even if she has differing views, just out of respect and to be polite?

What? out of respect for those who commit rape? Seriously? How about we have respect for the women who are violated by these despicable men.
user478932071 · 13/12/2021 18:58

Would there be any psychological advantage for the female victim to insist on being referred to as a man I wonder?

Why would there be a psychological advantage in being referred as a man?

BettyFilous · 13/12/2021 19:01

Anyone listening to a barrister questioning about ‘his’ sexual history and/ or ‘his’ foolish decision to dare go into a bar/ agree to go on a date/ etc might be struck by how it jars when the questions involve a male pronoun not a female one…)

This was so interesting I read it out to DH. It really shows up the double standard as a thought experiment.

SomepeopleareTERFSgetoverit · 13/12/2021 19:02

I am enjoying the tweets from female Scottish laywers showing Mr Abramson his arse.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 13/12/2021 19:06

Yes, the penny dropped some time ago in relation to that particular acronym. There are better women on this site than me. I wouldn't expend pixels on such a person.

I was a victim of rape, twice. It's an invasive crime designed to enforce power and humiliate. Most of us are denied justice. Now they're still making a beeline for victims, infiltrating the crisis and counselling centres, as IamSarah's story has so recently shown. They've been doing it for years, as shown through events in Vancouver.

It's concerted and it's deliberate.

Extending 'politeness' to my rapists is a hill I'd absolutely die on. Any court would find me in contempt first.

I don’t know, that’s what I wondered. I know it’s incredibly subjective but I suppose I wondered whether, if I was in that situation, I would find making people refer to me as the opposite sex too helped me feel it was showing the situation up for what it was.

But I suppose in reality it would lead to so much confusion and distortion ultimately it wouldn’t have any positive effects.

@PineappleCakes

Yes *@AlfonsoTheUnrepentant*, the BBC link I posted was to an article about PIE :( Apologies for my obscurity.
In 1984, PIE was supposedly disbanded. (Source: Wiki, PIE.)

How fucking weird is that.

@WarOnWoman

It's probably been said before on here before but I am always slightly taken by surprise how many blue ticked men come on JKR's thread to scold her. Love the responses to them though, they get their own arse kicked.
Why? When you realise they don't want the males in their spaces because they would have to do the work.

Discipline friends who make jokes, who would be violent?

That takes an effort, they might be suspected of being gay or a "chaser" or be unfriended or even laughed at!

Much better to pretend it's about TWAW.

Just looked again and turns out I was paraphrasing but.....how can these people be so dim and yet think they are so clever?!
By God, they have not self-insight, do they?
Gastonia · 13/12/2021 19:55

Her tweet is now being covered in The Times. Sorry, I can't do share tokens, for some reason.

Will someone think about the rapists!

There was a brilliant sketch by Tracy Ulmann along these lines, a female police investigator aggressively questioning a man and suggesting he had used his phone “provocatively”

Ms Rowling is wonderful.

The thread is a revelation.

Near enough every TRA is pursued onto their own timeline and gets quizzed, invariably about their rape apologist attitude. Every time one of them pops-up, they get chased down by gender-critical women, and often men. They don't always get the last word, but they rarely get away scot-free.

Things really are changing; social media isn't the safe home for TRA's/MRA's/incels it used to be 18 months ago, there are just too many GC's and their allies-to-hand.

🙃 So far up his own ass that he will need intravenous feeding.

The best is the mini-melt down when it was pointed out that his statements reclassify him as politically TERF, and he is to ignorant to realise it's a factual statement.

And why gamers, wtf is it always gamers?

And now the Independent have published a piece by the (former?) Communications Director of Prostasia, the paedophile advocacy group:
J K Rowling keeps tweeting and we keep wondering why

I can't get the comments to load, so I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned gis background, or asked why he thinks US statistics are relevant in a piece for a UK publication about a UK resident discussing UK law, particularly given that a transwoman has been convicted of committing sexual assault in a Scottish toilet. The Prostasia link is getting a lot of mentions under the tweet pushing the piece though.

NotBadConsidering · 13/12/2021 22:12

I’ve just looked at the tweet for the first time. I shouldn’t be surprised, but the amount of people who either don’t understand her tweet, or think rapists deserve respect, and don’t see the issue with where this sort of thing goes in terms of prisons is huge. It’s pretty disgusting really.
