Wow, the sheer audacity and stupidity of these people, absolutely appalling and I’m so glad that the police are taking this seriously as hopefully this will send a clear message to other who think this is ok.

And to the poster who said that she’s been receiving death threats forever, grow up as in the real world this is not acceptable, maybe pause for a moment and think how you would feel receiving one, it’s not pleasant.

There was that time Marion Millar & Graham Linehan doxxed a lesbian police officer.

1. What does this even mean? So someone who has no connection to JKR has (allegedly) done something to another person JKR doesn't know and that justifies a third party to put JKR's address online?

1. Doxxing is the act of putting previously private information, that is not widely known about an individual into the public domain. The most common form of doxxing is uncovering someone's identity and revealing their names and details when that individual chose to remain anonymous.

That police officer's name was not private, she had given interviews using her own name, published with her photograph. Neither MM nor GL published anything other than her name, and linked to her interview. No private information was revealed, they did not link any anonymous accounts to her which might have caused issues. Her name (already known) and a link to an article about her which was written with her cooperation. That's not doxxing.

I absolutely love how JKR did her usual thing of biding her time to frame her response before calmly and cooly hitting the target right in the centre. She must have thought long and hard before tagging those three into her thread. She needn't have done. But somehow she did it without spite or pettiness and showed the world who they really are. To paraphrase Omar from The Wire: You come for the queen, you best not miss

WTAF?!? Before that tweet I didn’t know precisely where JKR lives. (I knew the approximate place because of an unfortunate hedge-trimming related traffic jam I was in a few years ago with a screaming 9 month-old in the back seat).

I was a bit concerned about a Streisand-effect when Glinner ran this story last week, and I hope he takes that post down really.

But he’s not to blame here. Those three TRAs are. And I hope robust action is taken.

I not really sure what the issue. It is well known in Edinburgh where she lives thanks to the local paper. I have seen her drive into the property with her security in tow. She been getting death threats since forever because of her views on trans women, independence etc.

Nonsense. I lived in Edinburgh for years, so does my DC. Neither us nor anyone in our social circle knew where she lived. The local paper has not and would not publish her full address. People who pay attention to such things will know which area in Edinburgh she lives in. Not the full address.

Of course her neighbours will see her about. But they don't take photographs of her house and put it online explicitly to show extremist activists (who already have incited violence against her) where she lives, do they? What do you imagine the purpose is of such an action? I'm sure it wasn't here lives that wonderful writer, if you love her books send her flowers, was it?

You can see the number and the name. Put that into Google with Edinburgh and it tells you EXACTLY where that house is.

I don't live far away from her hedge (*Midsomer, yip, it's a palaver at trim time, but I can see why she wants that round her garden)

I'll organise a rota for MNrs to come and stand outside her gates to chase eejits off with a flea in their ear.

We'd be far more terrifying than protection people, that's for sure.
