Feeble deflection efforts. Marion Millar is a different person to JK Rowling, as well as all the other stuff that has been said. The police officer was involved in the case, hardly "doxxing" someone to give their name and link to their public social media.

I think the point I was trying to make was that if someone was intent to finding her address of her home. They would be able to before being exposed on Twitter.

JKR classy as ever. Hope the police take this further. You can't post pics of a woman's address on Twitter and picket outside someone's family home. Do they have no empathy, imagination or intelligence at all?

The problem with that argument Hoosemover is that if a woman suffering harassment and/or abuse is unable to keep a tight lid on her personal information, then if some people know it, then there should be no restrictions on everyone knowing it. Including those attacking her.

The only way for such a woman to be safe from the spread of her personal information would be for her to withdraw completely from public life and moving into a witness protection sort of life.

I wondered when JKR would act, and what she would do. It's absolutely wonderful (and in character) that she's acting to stand up for all the women who don't have her resources to deal with the intimidation and threats.

I imagine it is costing her a fair whack to have her lawyers deal with this, including having the photograph removed from the internet, dealing with Google, Twitter, Police Scotland, etc.

The three amigos should be seriously pondering about the costs involved arising from their actions IMHO.

I'm sure if someone was determined enough they could figure out my real name and address, that would be annoying and intrusive. If they then published (on the internet) my real name and address along side my anonymous MN / twitter accounts that would be doxxing. If the person doing the digging and publishing of info was doing it to harass or upset me that would be illegal.

In all seriousness, I think they are largely so convinced of their own righteousness that they will be genuinely shocked to learn that they are in trouble for this. And any trouble they do get in (hopefully via the police) will be all down to transphobia and play into their idea of victimhood.

So glad the police are involved. I'd like to see this on the national news but somehow I know it won't be.

Police involvement against TRAs and their allies who threaten death, rape, violence, abuse, intimidate, harass, doxxing against women and do so verbally, in writing and in public is LONG OVERDUE.

Reading the proposals for VAWG to be treated akin to terrorism by the Police, those TRAs and their allies who participate in the behaviour perpetrated against JKR and many, many other women should find themselves viewed the same way potential terrorists are by the Police.

DP is a well known actor in Scotland, very talented. Also a gay man who has selflessly taken on the role of making sure that every woman in Scotland understands the importance of Right Think and Be Kind and Shut Up.

He manages this despite his crippling fear of ribbons. A true hero.
