What's really difficult about what he's saying in his defence now, about having reflected and having recognised how things look so that it sounds v much like the advice he gave that other doctor, and therefore none of it rings true at all.
It's a hard spot to be in, because of that advice and arrogance, I'm not sure what would you like genuine contrition and insight from him now.

If he doesn't state remorse, reflection and recognise the need to learn then he's toast but if he does talk about reflection and insight he's just quoting his own dismissive play book.
