What is birthingparents point?

Kathleen was intimidated at work to the point that she could no longer bear it and had to give up her job to escape it. Which was the intention of the intimidation.

Because this intimidation is being discussed by Kathleen does mimmybirthingparent think there hasn't been enough of it? It seems like the rage fest got it's desired result of her leaving the job and so it's moved onto horror that Kathleen is now talking about the intimidation.

Lorraine agreed that talking freely was the right thing to do.

That's a great way of putting it. Are Mimmy and Lorraine both regretful that the bullying backfired?

Yes, her legal team argued very strongly - and successfully - against HMRC that the Lorraine we see on TV is merely a role and not actually Lorraine herself.

So, who really knows what the real Lorraine thinks or who she really agrees with.

LK now doing the frantic butt covering by tweeting that she disagrees with Prof Stock and she ‘believes’ that TWAW.

Great to see respectful disagreement on @reallorraine. Increasingly, too many people only talk to those they agree with. The world is often more interesting when we talk to people we disagree with.

For all the twitter crowing about how fabulous Lorraine is, there must be a good deal of nail biting going on. Lorraine is a hugely successful media persona (as clarified to HMRC) but her brand is chirpy Scottishness and bland positivity. She speaks in meaningless soundbites and is not known for her intellectual rigour. (And it's interesting to see how she is being framed on trans-twitter as a fierce, hard-hitting journalist while Emma Barnett of Woman's Hour and Newsnight is being painted as a credulous sycophant.)

Professor Stock was not there to put across any of the many reasoned arguments about the danger trans ideology poses to women's rights, but to inch this issue a little further into the mainstream.

Sincere thanks to Lorraine for providing that opportunity.

100%. This is the continuing dismantling of 'no debate'.

We all know what happens once people start asking questions, and openly discussing the issues.

We have to go through the debate, and although many of us have spent so long looking into the matter that we are impatient for others to get on with it, I think it's a bit of a dance, terms must be agreed upon, certain ground rules laid down, and even some very boringly obvious statements made (feminists don't 'hate' trans people, for example) before sensible, grown up discussions can resume.

KS was so incredibly calm and dignified and did well to get a word in edgeways against the incessant parroting and repetitive mantras being thrown out (with accompanying serious hard hitting screwed up gosh this is complex isn't it face).

For those who realise they’re actually men, it’s nonsense and they’ll think she’s bonkers. For anyone confused who thinks they’re women who want to be men, it’s a nonsensical truism, and she’s bonkers. For anyone who doesn’t understand at all, it’s surely nonsensical and puzzling, and bonkers. So lots of people will be saying “what’s she on about? Is she bonkers?”. I hope.

This is exactly what I thought.

Lorraine Kelly, she of the sympathetic head tilt, the dutiful girly giggle at her drag queen guests, and the falling over herself to ensure she gets pronouns correct, has had a massive transphobe on her show. And listened to what she had to say and was totally civil towards her.

I definitely think nails are being bitten right now......

Kathleen Stock is amazingly calm, clear, reasonable and measured isn’t she. Extremist TRAs (aka Misogynists 2.0) have scored a massive own goal trying to silence her which has backfired to give her the freedom to speak. I’m so sorry for her personally, given what she’s been subjected to, but you couldn’t ask for a better ambassador.
