I suppose it's progress to have a full on TWAW show have someone like Kathleen Stock on, and for LK to say that there should be open debate, though what it's worth I'm really not sure.

Felt very tokenistic and vacuous in my view. I really can't stand the current trend to avoid ever getting to the nub of a debate in favour of just 'being kind'... it's really not kind in the long term is it, and it feels so fake.

LK was very dismissive of the hate campaign against KS which really goes against everything she was saying regarding open debate

She was doing her special scrunched up thinking face, as if trying really hard to get her ladybrain around the fact that Prof Stock's book is a bestseller and she has had lots of media coverage for being bullied out of her job. Not quite accusing Prof Stock is 'weaponising her trauma' or whatever the phrase is, but leaving it there for other folx to draw that conclusion.

Of course, the possibility that Prof Stock is getting media coverage because a huge proportion of the population are done with the bullying and silencing, and Material Girls is selling like hotcakes because people are so ready to read a clear, honest analysis of gender bullshit wasn't aired. Nope. It's all because Prof Stock is one of those notorious manipulative power lesbians, who have been controlling the media from behind the scenes for decades.

I didn’t see it but I think these fence-sitters are pretty canny. Holly Willoghby has come out and said she has had to massively water down her own personality to be successful in TV. She has to actively have no opinion on anything. Then when the tide changes, and it will, they can merely float in the other direction, career intact.

Yes, no mention of the name of the book at all. So that the trans allies won’t get upset that it was promoting the book.

And completely downplaying the violent aspect of the protests and the abusive nature of it all. Because…. It wouldn’t be acceptable to call out any TRA for crossing the line into abuse.

Does Lorraine usually cover this stuff? I’ve only ever seen her show when it’s been interviewing celebs and fashion etc.

Everything is sunlight, though I imagine Lorraine’ll have a week of Munroe Bergdorf and the like on now to try and make amends.

Lorraine is no. 5 trending in uk on twitter, but I went through the hash tag and it's just as much supportive of stock as anti stock, and there's lots about Craig David too. I expect it trends quite often.

It'll be interesting to see what the fall out for Lorraine is. Another nail in the coffin on #nodebate though.

I can only see praise on Twitter L with the LGbT have tweeted and Lorraine has thanked them for their thank you.

Vacuous is exactly the right word to describe Lorraine. At one time she was a good journalist, but she has got very lazy in her nice morning TV role. She clearly hasn't done any research.
However, it is good that KS is getting exposure in this way and there will be many viewers who will have pause for thought.

Kathleen was great, and do you know what I thought Lorraine did ok.

She was very clear to distance herself from Kathleen’s views, but treated her with respect and said there should be open debate. So I thought fair play to her, her views may change in time as the implications become clear.

That was a contrived performance by Lorraine.

She knows people want to hear more about this so she invited Kathleen on to show some sort of willing but she spoke over her repeatedly in order that every single viewer was left in no doubt that the 'correct' or 'nice' opinion is that we need to believe TWAW.

She controlled that interview to within an inch of its life, barely letting Kathleen speak about what's happened to her or what her opinions actually are.

I'm just hoping that some of the viewers watching will now be questioning wtf went on at Sussex.

So true. My sons told me they are frightened of their own peer group. They have left Facebook now. Brava for Professor Stock. I place my faith in Lorraine's audience to see through her flim flam and realise the truth of the matter.

I watched it with my parents and it started a discussion of what this is all about and what self id means now.

And fair play to Lorraine for actually politely allowing different views and debate. Surely that's the issue, that no debate is allowed in places.

Telling tweet that, Oh. On their high horse before admitting they hadn't seen it - don't even know what they're talking about but happy to stick the boot in which is TRAs in a nutshell. A lot of patronising, mocking replies believing the Prof to be too old and stupid to know what she was if for going on Lorraine.
