I don’t think it’s so much “siding with Boris” as “PM sees which is more popular opinion and sides with that”.

As someone else has said, if the hard numbers truly believed all aspects of trans ideology that would be what he would be saying.

That in general the people of the UK want trans people to be treated with respect and decency in no way implies the majority is ok with unisex facilities, mixed sport, unresearched drugs for children etc.

None of those things prove he can think critically. I know plenty oxbridge grads who can’t see past twaw. Imho bj can, but he would gladly lie & said twaw if it got him votes. He is smart enough to see it won’t. That’s his only basis for this support. I’m quite sure he doesn’t gaf about women.

However, realising there is a large proportion of voters who might be single issue voters and choosing what he says to appeal to that demographic shows he understands democracy. Which is a lot more than we can say about the opposition.

I could not be more pleased if I were to proved wrong. The more time that elapses for Margaret Atwood, the more pleased that I am for my expectation to have been wrong for her as I thought she'd walk it back/apologise/pledge herself to re-education within 24 hours.

The other thing that I would be delighted to be wrong about would be the continued use of the argument that anyone is questioning anyone's rights to exist - that has been a gratuitous rhetorical device and abhorrent frame for a very long time.

It's hardly surprising. The Conservative party are engaged in a 'culture war' against woke politics and in favour of populism. Much like Trump.
