I am a member of a women's social group which is friendly and inclusive. Non-binary people are also allowed to join and this is mentioned on the website. A member is now suggesting that the word 'women' in the group's name should be taken out and it be changed to "women and enby". She is also arguing that greetings like "Hi Ladies" should not be used. Instead, she suggests" Hi Ladies and Enbies". What do people think?

I have an Irish colleague. Apparently (so he says) ‘hiya, ya c**s’ is an acceptable greeting. (I worked for an Irish organisation for a few years and can’t say I ever came across that theory).

@Gmom please don't use the word cis-gendered, women are women as they are adult human females, we don't need another way of describing ourselves. I think you know this by the rest of your post but when you say women, we know what you mean when the rest of the world pretends not to.

I have an Irish colleague who claims this, too. He's also rat phobic, so I won't be able to use "what's up, rat bastards," for fear of triggering him.

I use ladies, or ‘the lady in the shop’ etc. so sue me Grin
I’m in a number of sewing groups and many of them have had this discussion and there I’m more than happy to adopt neutral forms, as I agree men should be welcome and we shouldn’t have this stereotype that sewing is for women, although I roll my eyes at the people insisting no one say ‘hey guys’ because it’s not neutral.
If it’s women only I feel differently, not sure what I’d say!!
