Hi all I can't see a thread about this conference next week in London (QEII). Lots of great speakers including Maya introducing Allison Bailey! Is anyone going? I'm considering going to some of it. Any idea if there will be protestors outside? My (elderly) mum is going.

@JulesRimetStillGleaming

Was just looking for the writer on Twitter but can't see a Twitter account.

The journalist has previously experienced pile-ons and withdrew from Twitter at that time, iirc.

Thanks.

I've submitted a comment directly via the BBC feedback page.

No, I don't have evidence of a toilet recording, I'm just going by what the person claimed/insinuated with KM. I will of course be quite happy if no such recording exists. I've been having private discussions with people, men and women who attended and are extremely concerned they were either recorded intimately or are going to be doxxed. So, no, I don't much give a crap if the arseholes currently simultaneously calling lesbians liars while insisting we're like racists if we don't fuck men are painted in a bad light because some of their number have also made a claim to have recorded women in the toilet.

I can’t say I’ve ever made a recording in a loo. I did take a picture of a loo once - in a very fancy dinner venue (and no one was in there) - it was absolutely amazing, huge mirrors, draining tables...

Otherwise, why go and record in bad faith?

I hadn't even thought about the doxxing angle.

There were pink lanyards for people who didn't consent to be in any photographs. So if someone publishes photos of anyone in pink lanyards (which I believe has already happened) is this a legal matter?

I would assume there were t&c when booking the ticket

I think we'd have to ask individuals to take down pics we were in. I had a pink lanyard on but I guess we all run the risk people will publish our pics and we won't even know unless we come across them?

I wish that I'd thought to post on here while I was there. Tbh I was too pre-occupied with getting to London and all the logistics. I might have even spoken to some of you without realising.

I was on a stall but I won't say which one.

I had a pink lanyard on but I accepted the reality that if some nasty fucker was taking surreptitious pics to out people (totally right side of progressive history to do that, honest), or if I was caught sideways on then there wasn't much I could do. It was a risk, but I know there often comes a time when you have to roll with that. I'm on the pic that was shared around on Twitter with an invitation to dox, but by chance I had leaned forward so I am obscured by the person in front of me. I haven't seen myself anywhere else.

If they booked a ticket they will have been aware of the ‘pink system’. Sounds a bit... dodgy to deliberately take photos and post them online (with or without threats). I dont expect the police will bother though..

Humourous take on the 'Tunnocks' involvement:

I buy them anyway but put extra in my basket this week.

I wish I'd looked on this thread on the day - we could've had a meetup!

I see that Jen Ives has posted videos of the altercation on Twitter - taken by the person who approached them. They’re also saying that they personally didn’t record anything from inside the women’s toilets.

Jen was carrying/wearing a recording device, a dictaphone I believe, inside women's toilets.

On the recent thread, there's a message from a woman who also attended the conference sharing how uncomfortable and distressed this makes her, even in retrospect.

I'm a woman who has no problem with trans people, but doesn't wish to share intimate spaces like bathroom facilities with male-bodied people.

This is why we need third spaces. Women's toilets and the like are there to maintain privacy and dignity, not to validate anyone's gender identity.
