Hi all I can't see a thread about this conference next week in London (QEII). Lots of great speakers including Maya introducing Allison Bailey! Is anyone going? I'm considering going to some of it. Any idea if there will be protestors outside? My (elderly) mum is going.

I was there and it was a great day. Hi to anyone I spoke to from Mumsnet without realising!

That is outrageous that someone tweeted a photo of people explicitly not consenting to public photos. I was wearing a pink lanyard specifically not to be in photos.

I was really careful in all the photos I took of speakers to crop out audience members even from behind so as not to have anyone identifiable.

Oh that's hilarious!

It's highly amusing watching Twitter lose their shit over this. The desperation to shut up the LGB Alliance is so palpable.

They will do anything to frame the LGBA as similar to the 'Muslamic Ray Guns' type racist groups, but they are struggling to get the traction needed. They are pulling more and more shit out of their arses and flinging it with increasing fury against the wall in the hope that some of it sticks.

Quite shameful how the trans activist has no care or concern for the deaf person though. So rude, inconsiderate and unwilling to accommodate other people. I guess that kind of defines the movement.

There's a short article in the DM, sorry can't link, about the PM's letter to the LGBA which contains these lines:

Last night, the group said it had also been invited to a meeting in Downing Street, where members had been told they had a lot of support really high up.

Asked about the letter, the PM’s spokesman said: ‘The Government is clear that biology matters and there are different health needs between the sexes.

No doubt one side will be apoplectic.

I used Google's automated captioning for it as well. What's fascinating is that because Google's is constantly adapting, you rarely get the same transcription again. I played it through 3 times and once they caught the word 'preacher' but the other 2x it was just as bizarre as the Tweeter's automated captions.

It is well known that Tunnocks Teacakes are Scots S'Mores (leave in the wrapper and put them on a barbecue or, this time of year, a bonfire).

And there are swathes of people who cannot get through the week without a Tunnocks Caramel Log.

People might nod along to everything else for a quiet life but if there's any attempt to cancel Tunnocks it will be like the time they tried to reduce the sugar in Irn Bru.

I don't know but I'm very sad that no-one was calling upon him to repent nor shaking a tambourine.

Caption systems still have a very long way to go before they can reliably interpret speech against mixed background noise.
