WarriorN - I guess the sight of all those women in one place, speaking their thoughts, singing their songs and displaying their ribbons, must have been absolutely terrifying for a poor wee man like Paisley.

Jaysmith71 · 31/08/2021 13:14

Sharp edges on those ribbons.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 31/08/2021 13:15

Good luck to him finding a new abode with no haberdashery on display.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 31/08/2021 13:15

I wonder what this means for the case? I'd assume he was part of the prosecutions argument?

Clarice99 · 31/08/2021 13:16

It is doubly scandalous that they are funding the state persecution and harassment against women.

So true!

I'd rather my tax be used to compensate victims than used to fund the persecution of innocent women.

I'm in awe of Marion and her resilience. It's utterly absurd that she is on trial Angry

What's the Mumsnet phrase? Off you pop then, cuntychops Grin

WarriorN · 31/08/2021 13:21

I've decided to leave Scotland, in part because I no longer felt safe in my home

Was he getting rape and murder threats daily then like women targeted by TRA's or is he just threatened my women with opinions and ribbons? Hmm

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 31/08/2021 13:25

Don't forget the stickers! Shock

littlbrowndog · 31/08/2021 13:27

And we have this in Scotland.

Low rates of conviction rates

In 2019-20, the conviction rate for rape and attempted rape fell by 8% and it has the lowest conviction rape of any crime type. In 2019/20 there were 2,343 rapes and attempted rapes reported to the police, but only 43 per cent of cases which made it to court (compared to an 88% overall conviction rate), with 300 prosecutions and just 130 convictions.

Have a read at this report about violence against girls and women in Scotland

Violence in Scotland

In 2019-2020, there were 62,907 domestic abuse incidents recorded by Police Scotland. Around four out of every five of these incidents (83%) had a female victim and a male accused. Additionally, in 2019 - 2020 1,681 new crimes were recorded under the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act 2018, which came into force on 1st April 2019. Most incidents of domestic abuse go unreported to the police. The 2018/20 SCJS found that just under a sixth (16%) of those who experienced partner abuse in the 12 months prior to interview said that the police came to know about the most recent (or only) incident.(Source)
In 2019-20 there were:
2,343 of rape and attempted rape reported to Police Scotland. (Source)
4,936 cases of sexual assault reported to Police Scotland. (Source)
238% increase in other sexual crimes since 2010/11 including a 4% increase from 5,763 in 2018-19 to 5,984 in 2019-20 (Source)
While figures for many crimes in Scotland are going down, for sexual offences they continue to rise. Sexual crimes have been on a long-term upward trend since 1974, and have increased each consecutive year since 2008-09. Prior to the small decrease in 2019-20, there had been increases each year since 2008-09. Sexual crimes are at the highest level seen since 1971, the first year for which comparable crime groups are available. (Source)

Yet we have police chucking out women from pubs. And this court case

My country. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

There has to be something else going on here.

littlbrowndog · 31/08/2021 13:29

Paisley leaving !!

Signalbox · 31/08/2021 13:32

@SpindleWhorl

As well as the Police, you have to ask what the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) is bloody playing at.

Thank god the court listened to the arguments (presumably Joanna Cherry's?) that MM has likely had her own human rights interfered with, and will now go away and seriously consider this.

It's a very good development, I personally think.

Aren’t COPFS a Stonewall champion? Perhaps they are using Stonewall’s interpretation of the law rather than the actual law.

I couldn't be there but I was with Marion in spirit; utterly made my day to find these ribbons up the Abbey Craig (woods under the Wallace Monument) today and I tied some of my own too 🥃

He's just attention seeking. This case isn't going down as he thought it would. I think he was expecting an outpouring of support for him, instead Twitter is full of support for Marion. So he's having to fish for it.

We really ought to arrange something like that for the next court appearance on 4 October.

I wonder if he’s getting recognised on the streets. Not in the way he wants to be recognised as Man At Bus Stop, but as the ribbonphobic enemy of free speech who’s trying to turn Scotland into a police state. I’d leave too, but then I wouldn’t have tried to turn Scotland into a police state.
