Is that a Campanula portenschlagiana, Spindle?

JustSpeculation · 01/09/2021 12:04

@Blackandwhitehorse

That tweet from Teddy, Grin I think ridicule is the only way to respond. Can they even be serious or is it a wind up?! Make it make sense!!
I think it's a wind-up. It's suggesting that people who object to minor foibles of others (which might include, for example, though not explicitly stated, exposing your penis in a women's changing room) are being neurotic. In other words, trying to present objections to mixed facilities as a silly fuss about nothing.

Or they might have a real phobia about purple, but I think not, somehow.

Trans violets are Viola odorata

"When Marion popped in to say hi to the other women, she was recognised by bar staff. She got one beer, popped to the loo and when she returned, she was stopped by bar staff who told her they knew who she was, and that she wasn't welcome. She was given half an hour to leave."

You missed out the part where she shouted at bar staff after they returned her (or her group's) campaigning material to her which they found in the bathroom.

If you say so, @YetAnotherSpartacus!

It's in my garden, near the lavender Grin Needs some white blooms in there ...

littlbrowndog · 01/09/2021 12:24

Where did you see that margarita. The shouting ?

YetAnotherSpartacus · 01/09/2021 12:28

Spindle - it's beautiful! I agree that something white would complement it. I think it is what my parents grew and they grew a simple English daisy amongst it.

NotBadConsidering · 01/09/2021 12:29

Someone is triggered by purple? They’d best never visit Australia in August then:

I was once a therapist and there was a site for therapists to chat, ask for advice etc. There was indeed poor guy who had a patient who had a phobia of yellow balloons. Just they yellow ones.

Margarita, I think you are just making stuff up.

Someone is triggered by purple?

Someone is just trying to make themselves the centre of attention and receive lots of fawning responses on their Twitter and Facebook.

And you've missed out the part where the bar person was asked what was 'shouted', several times, and all the person replied was they're all cunts.

Plus this material is conspicuous by its absence in a description, a photograph, or an actual piece of paper.

It's all about context.

Or Manchester uni. All the T-shirt’s that I’ve been given from there are purple.

MargaritaPie · 01/09/2021 12:36

"Where did you see that margarita. The shouting ?"

The owner's account of what happened.

KittenKong · 01/09/2021 12:37

Who is the owner? Do you mean the complainant who seems to be a bit of a drama llama?

Datun · 01/09/2021 12:39

@MargaritaPie

"Where did you see that margarita. The shouting ?"

The owner's account of what happened.

That's a neat trick, given the owner wasn't there.
NecessaryScene · 01/09/2021 12:39

The owner's account of what happened.

But you'll note in the owner's account they had to explain to the other customers why the women were being thrown out - repeating the explanation given to the police.

You'd think if there had actually been shouting, the other customers would have noticed it and wouldn't have needed an explanation... Hmm

NecessaryScene · 01/09/2021 12:39

(Doh, yes, not owner. This Meb bar-hand)

Datun · 01/09/2021 12:42

The bar person hasn't repeated a single word that they allege was said. They haven't shown a single piece of evidence about any material.

I'm thinking, and this is only a hunch, that were they in possession of anything, anything at all, to back up their claims, they would produce it.

Probably.

In all likelihood.

SpindleWhorl · 01/09/2021 12:42

Interesting thought. It's a bit of a disastrous comparator, though, in terms of one's argument being taken seriously.

Especially using the colour purple which carries enormous meaning for so many women. And, I imagine, many men too.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/09/2021 12:48

Greene King, who own the pub, did tweet that they were going to investigate, didn't they. I think I read that this would involve reviewing CCTV footage. I doubt we'll ever hear the result of that review in public, but if the women were causing so much disruption that the police had to be called mobhanded to eject them, wouldn't we be expecting criminal charges to follow? Meanwhile, the egregious Meb made it plain in the aftermath that a new job is in the offing, so there's probably sod all Greene King can do in the way of disciplinary procedures, should any be felt necessary. Might be a different story with other staff involved, but bar staff are always pretty transient.

Just saw this on Twitter today. Another disturbance at a Scottish bar.

Apparently they were refused service because some of the group were far too drunk. Then they started swearing at the owner and recording them without permission (you can't do this on private property).

Police were called, but then the owner called them back to ask not to come out once the group left on their own accord. Then the owner found Gender Critical material had been left behind. The owner alleges her Twitter is now being bombarded.

I never wear purple, look shit in it.

Might be time to give it another go though.

Also just received my Sex Matters mug which came with stickers and postcards. Wonder where I can put them?!

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 01/09/2021 12:52

The other five (unnamed) ones have been dropped.

I'm baffled. Some commenters in this thread (and on other threads) were counselling everybody to hold their opinion because those tweets/charges were emphatically homophobic/transphobic etc. And now they've been dropped and superseded with charges from actions that were in response to the process?

Have those commenters changed their mind in line with the legal process and revised charges?
