Gay man 'bullied' off Manchester Pride for wearing LGB Alliance hat and t-shirt

LibDem activist delighted by this. Here are two of her tweets. The gay man who turned up in an LGB hat and t-shirt was allegedly advised by police to leave for his own safety and seems to have had the hat stolen.

Another young fool tweeted that 'bullying the guy in the LGB Alliance shirt who came to the protest march is my favourit part of Pride so far xx'. He has since deleted this (possibly because he is now sober and/or has seen how many people had reported this to his employers) and now claims he was just chanting 'Trans lives matter!'. 'Bullying' is an odd choice of words for this. How could anyone think admitting publicly to 'bullying' was a good look?

The LGB Alliance man has been advised that people shouting at him is actually assault if he wants to take it further. Doesn't sound like he does, though.

Unedifying, to say the least.

TRAs promote a notion of "belief" and "validation" and "existence".

No one who is gender critical or a member of LGBA is saying that trans is a fiction. This is just a bullshit argument. Saying trans people "exist" or are "valid" is such a pointless thing to say. No one says otherwise. Christ, we could hardly be mistaken about their existence when they never shut up. They'd like to have everyone believe that gay and trans people who support LGBA don't exist however. Funny that.

GC people argue that there is a push from certain trans people and their self-identified (ever-widening umbrella of) queer allies, to demand what they see as "rights" which are above and beyond the rights of other groups of people and which trample upon the rights of these other groups.

They demand trans privilege and when they don't get it they say we are "denying their existence", i.e. Look at me! Look at me! I'm over here! You're not looking at meeeeee!

Childish.

Marguerite2000 · 30/08/2021 11:43

Childish
And narcisstic. They seem to have the bizarre notion that they must be included in everything, and no one can do anything without them, ever.
The writing was on the wall when we saw the meltdowns over the pink pussy hats on the Women's marches a few years ago. They literally couldn't believe that women can express ourselves without, not just including, but centering them.
This is an extension of that. They started with lesbians, then women generally and now moved onto gay men.

FloralBunting · 30/08/2021 11:46

Alex was part of the protest, which incidentally about the corporate hypocrisy in Pride events and promotions. He did not go to provoke, he went as part of the march, and if you watch footage from earlier you can see him walking along talking with a friend in the middle of the march. He wore a t shirt and hat with the logo of a charity specifically for people with the two minority sexualities, homosexuality and bisexuality.

He did not go to provoke, he is a gay man with an interest in corporations using LGBTQ+ marketing and giving very little back.

So how about people stop fucking lying about him and LGB Alliance, and stop supporting homophobic bullying? Despicable cuntery.

trancepants · 30/08/2021 11:50

@Yourstupidityexhaustsme That man can walk so freely due to the actions of members of the trans community like Marsha P. Johnson who was a pioneer for both gay rights and AIDS awareness.

You know this isn't true right? 1. Johnson was absolutely in no way pivotal in starting the Stonewall riot. That was a lesbian woman. And 2. Johnson WAS NOT TRANS!!!!!! I mean it's supposed to be literal violence to deliberately misgender someone but despite the fact that Johnson actually specified that he was absolutely not a transwoman, it's been decided that he didn't know his own identity and can be called trans all the time now that he's dead so can't keep correcting people! He was a gay man.

MistandMud · 30/08/2021 11:52

Plus… they were American. Manchester is in the UK. British gay rights don’t depend on US arguments.

Giraffe19856 · 30/08/2021 11:53

Marsha P Johnson wasnt bloody trans.

I cant bear this transwashing of history.

Despicable cuntery

Love this. I feel a name change coming on... Grin

FloralBunting · 30/08/2021 11:56

Seriously, please read the article I posted if you haven't.

The bloody cheek of all the woke whining about colonialism while superimposing an inaccurate gloss of US history over the UK campaign for equal lesbian and gay rights is really fucking me off.

GromblesofGrimbledon · 30/08/2021 11:59

I cant bear this transwashing of history.

His Wikipedia page goes to painful efforts to avoid saying "he" at all costs.

"Johnson this and Johnson that."

Giraffe19856 · 30/08/2021 12:03

One of APs recent posts says that trans people are gender non conforming and brave.

No. Brave would be to be gnc but live proudly as your natal sex.

They do love to re-write history in their favour. Can't allow facts to get in the way of their rebranding.

They chant 'don't deny my existence' and then routinely deny anyone else doing the same.

They say 'people are who they say they are' but they mean, 'people are who we say they are', authoritarian much?

Giraffe19856 · 30/08/2021 12:03

How on earth is trans gnc anyway. They are opposites.

FloralBunting · 30/08/2021 12:08

Good point.

It's not gender non cornforming for a male to be sexually attracted to women and attempt to coerce us into sex, people, even by claiming they are lesbians too.

That as stereotypically male behaviour as you can get.

Wow what a toxic, depressing thread this is. I have a beautiful Trans daughter who is gradually, tentatively trying to be brave enough to emerge from her internal prison, which she has been trapped in for years.
There are so many hurdles, so much misinformation, and so much hatred. The LGBT community is essential for people like her to feel part of a supportive network. She is also bisexual. Why do you want to exclude her from the rainbow family? My heart breaks for her when reading these responses.

Eh? Have you actually bothered to read the thread? No one wants to exclude your child.

A bloke got bullied off a Pride March for wearing a t shirt showing his support for an LGB charity.

That's what the thread's about. Not excluding trans people Hmm

NecessaryScene · 30/08/2021 12:13

Is this a copy-paste from a stock template? I see no evidence you've even read the thread. Try responding to something specific.

Really? Seriously? You think that people disagreeing that gay men should be thrown out of gay pride for being gay, are the ones exhibiting hatred? And not the homophobes who chucked him out?

We really are back to the 1950s, aren't we.

NonnyMouse1337 · 30/08/2021 12:17

andrelax Quit the hyperbolic guilt trip. It doesn't work here.
Your child already has access to a very well funded 'rainbow family'.
Lesbians, gay men and bisexual people who don't accept homophobia are entitled to advocate for their own groups and should be free to express their views in public without harassment and mob violence. People should be able to ignore others they disagree with. The 'rainbow family' needs to learn this crucial life lesson.

I suggest you read the thread.

No one is excluding your child. No one. But groups are very clearly keen to exclude people who define their sexual orientation as same sex.

Do you support those who assaulted a gay man for stating his sexual boundaries?

Or are you calling those who condemn this type of violent behavior as toxic?

merrymouse · 30/08/2021 12:19

Why do you want to exclude her from the rainbow family?

Nobody is excluding her from receiving support. They are just asserting boundaries that they need to protect their rights. That is not hateful or toxic.

andrelax · 30/08/2021 12:21

I have read the thread. It's not a stock template. I was talking from the heart. Hatred for Trans people runs through so many of the comments and that's what prompted my post. If you can't see that things are worse than I thought.

merrymouse · 30/08/2021 12:24

Perhaps you could quote?

I don’t think it is helpful to anyone to perceive hatred that doesn’t exist.

Well, don't keep your thoughts to yourself. Explain.

Explain what constitutes hatred.

Or do you agree that a gay man should've been thrown out of gay pride, for being gay?
