Gay men being subject to abuse for their sexuality

Or Homophobia as we know it.

The belief that the trans-activists would stop by just attacking lesbians turns out to have been a miscalculation; gay men are a target now, and the community is only just starting to wake-up to the threat it is facing.

Woke Homophobia

Oh is that that bizarre case where Marion Millar allegedly retweeted a photograph of some ribbons and was ordered to go to a police station, and leave her autistic children in the care of a social worker? Joanna Cherry (who is herself a lesbian and long time promoter of gay rights) is to represent her when the case comes to court.

'Kay Knight: The Shaming of Homosexuals for Having Sex'

concludes:
"I submit that it’s because shame is alive and kicking in the modern progressive movement, and its target is still lesbians and gay men. As I mentioned, I know how powerful that is, and it’s a big component of how conversion therapy operates. How can this new progressive movement hold that open kink must be seen by all and sundry as a healthy expression of sexuality, but insist that a gay man who wants a penis on his sexual partner, or a lesbian who wants a vulva, are unacceptable? What is this except undiluted homophobia?

Of course a lesbian is attracted to the whole of a woman. But a whole woman will have a vulva, not a penis. Suggesting that this baseline expectation is perverted and unspeakable is absolutely taking us back to the dark days of Section 28, which was in effect all through my secondary school years, when my homosexuality was emerging, and I was already learning to repress and hide it.

Being a gay man is not about glitter, interior decorating, and fabulous make overs of your straight friends. Being a lesbian is not about fixing appliances, having a quirky haircut or being very sporty. To coin a phrase, it’s not a lifestyle. It’s simply about being sexually oriented to your own sex, in exactly the same way being straight is about being sexually oriented to the opposite sex. Having sex matters to a lesbian and gay man as much as it matters to a straight person.

To demand that lesbians and gay men dismiss the relevance of the genitals on their partner is to erase a significant part of us in a way that would never happen to straight people, and that is the essence of inequality. It’s not progressive, it’s coercive and abusive, and if any of us should feel shame, it’s the people who want to push openly LGB people back into a rainbow glitter covered closet."

The reasons for the name-calling (transphobe! ) and sexual bullying are two-fold.

Firstly, especially with the younger trans groups who are active on Tiktoc and Twitter the entire focus is on them and their demands. “I will tell you how to be an ally to me”. They haven’t been told “no” and this has been reinforced as they transition and are lauded for this. The expectation is that people capitulate to their needs because they are special.

The second reason is that sexual attraction is where ideology is trumped by reality and that, in turn, affects validation.
A woman can transition and tell society that they are a man, but a gay man, who is attracted to men, will still want to only have sex with someone with a functioning penis. They aren’t interested in the “male vagina”.

It’s one of those things that really needs to be explained to young people considering these bodily modifications - the pool of people who will want to have sex with you will reduce. Especially I think for girls and women who are attracted to men - gay men will withstand the abuse ultimately. And hopefully they’ll be more supportive of the men who are bullying lesbians as well

OnlyTheLangOfTheTitberg · 11/08/2021 06:14

Apologies if I’m being dim, but this final sentence doesn’t make sense to me in this context: “ And hopefully they’ll be more supportive of the men who are bullying lesbians as well”.

Do you mean “less supportive”? Why is it to be hoped that bullies receive more support? Or has the point sailed over my head (entirely possible; I am a Bear of Very Little Brain).

AnimalCrossingNewHorizons · 11/08/2021 06:18

I wonder if those on the alphabet spectrum who jumped on the bandwagon about J.K.Rowling, are now having second thoughts.

Yeah, you’re right, that’s not what I meant to say at all!

I meant hopefully gay men will now be more supportive of the the lesbians being attacked by men (or by transwomen).

Multitasking typing failure.

Yes, I was really surprised and saddened to see several gay and lesbian adults on my social media post nasty things about JKR. I doubt they read her piece or have looked into the issues, beyond thinking trans is "Gay Plus, Gay 2.0" as someone put it.

The articles I read on her case said the charges were for multiple tweets from 2020-21 which were "malicious with homophobic and transphobic aggravators".

Scottish Legal News
Exclusive: Joanna Cherry QC to defend Marion Millar in limited return to the bar
By Kapil Summan Published 24 June 2021
(extract)

"Joanna Cherry QC MP is returning to the bar on a limited basis and will defend feminist activist Marion Millar in her first case, Scottish Legal News can reveal.

Ms Cherry has accepted instructions through Beltrami and Company to defend Ms Millar, who has been charged by police with offences under s.127 of the Communications Act 2003 over her social media activity in 2019.

Ms Millar, an accountant, had retweeted an image of a bow of ribbons in the Suffragette colours of green, white and purple that was tied around a tree outside of the Glasgow studio in which a BBC soap opera was being filmed.

The police received a complaint about the image on the basis the ribbons represented a noose. The nature of other complaints made against Ms Millar is unknown.

Ms Cherry, who returns to Arnot Manderson Advocates, told Scottish Legal News: “After my election to Parliament in 2015 the demands of my duties as a front bench spokesperson precluded me from accepting any instructions in my capacity as an advocate. Now that I no longer have those responsibilities, I hope to be able to take on human rights and public law cases from time to time, as my duties as a constituency MP allow.” (continues)

Ms Cherry added: “I remain very committed to the law as an important instrument for upholding human rights and preventing discrimination and I am sure that there will be a synergy between the cases I take on and the values I have championed in elected politics, particularly respect for human rights, equality and the rule of law.”

Do you have a link tho these articles? It seems they are mistaken.

Well I guess we're shortly about to find out what they said. 17th, isn't it?

This is entirely unrelated , but has everyone seen the SNP logo? Its like a reversed hope ribbon. 😆

The links to the articles would be very useful.

I searched with the sentence "malicious with homophobic and transphobic aggravators" but couldn't get a hit.

I did though find this article;

Woman charged with hate crime after tweets

which had a paragraph;

The police allege that the three tweets posted by Millar over the course of a year were "homophobic" and "transphobic" in a manner justifying criminal proceedings. though the article refers to them as going back to 2019-2020, not 2020-2021.

I reckon this will be Scotland's Trial Of The Century, with the world's media in attendance. Not sure The Crown Office will share their enthusiam.

Oh no, could that possibly be interpreted as a noose? 🤔 #triggered

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 11/08/2021 21:00

I found this fascinating article which says

The charge comes just a week after Kirkcaldy police warned people about “controversial stickers” on lampposts in the town, which it said had been reported as a hate crime. The stickers were later found to say “Women Won’t Wheesht” and were in support of women’s group ForWomen Scotland.

And there's a picture supplied of the hate crime stickers.

MargaritaPie · 11/08/2021 21:10

There were multiple tweets. I think there's more to it than a "picture of a ribbon".

"AN accountant and campaigner has been charged under the Malicious Communications Act for tweets published in 2019 and 2020."

I've got a dossier of homophobic tweets from trans activists. Any possibility that Police Scotland will be interested, do you think?

Can you share some of them?

I'm not a lawyer but IMO I don't see anything there that would be of any interest to the police and result in any charges if reported.

I'm not exactly sure what "comicbookdyke"'s tweet is actually about but it looks quite threatening, especially if it was directed at a specific person.

FloralBunting · 12/08/2021 07:06

The sneakier tactic of 'show me pictures of homophobia so I can agree with or dismiss homophobia' is a weird one, but you do you, I suppose.

They like to command people go fetch evidence and lay it at their feet ready for the dismissive perusal. Makes them feel powerful I guess. It is quite weird behaviour though.
