@Wrongsideofhistorymyarse

Other blog posts reveal that that some people are using "vi", "vin", "vis" as their pronouns or "ni"*

The knights who say 'ni' were ahead of the curve by decades.

Dammit! I was working on a joke about this then my child woke up and I missed my shot! 😂
Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 06/08/2021 09:44

Sorry Delirium Grin

I’ve always thought the Green Party a refuge for those with high ideals (sometimes based on shaky knowledge) and no grasp of political practicalities, especially in a FPTP system. Far better to join a party with some prospect of power and push the agenda from within. There are people concerned about the environment and with a good grasp of the complex economic and political issues involved in both the Labour and Conservative parties, and I joined the Liberals decades ago partly because it was the only party with a strong, committed position on the environment.
It doesn’t surprise me in the least that the Greens have fallen prey to extremist wokery, and I’m saddened that the LDs have also succumbed. Like many others, I’m politically homeless now.

Fafafa/fafa/fafa/fa,

Wish I could be like David Watts.

Chersfrozenface · 06/08/2021 10:40

I have a list of preferred pronouns (currently the Latin ones are my favourites), which I propose to use on weekly rotation.

I may well add ecky, ecky, ptang.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 06/08/2021 10:41

that fae article. my word

how do some people even function?

QueenPeary · 06/08/2021 10:44

breatheandfocus I’m a woman with short hair, always have been. I’m also quite GNC, often wear jeans and t-shirt with no make-up, wear big boots etc but nothing out of the ordinary. I happen to be a straight, adult human female woman and in no way LBGTQ+++ at all, but in the last few years it’s been funny to see certain people tie themselves up in knots trying not to say the wrong thing or misgender me or direct me to the wrong toilets, in case I’m NB or identify as a man or whatever and might bite their head off.

It’s tragic. In the 80s/90s I was just a straight woman with short hair and my pick of the lads! Now I’m potentially not a woman.

I think Greek is missing out here. Could someone who identifies as frog gender use brekeckeckeck/koax/koax? Aristophanes would surely have loved this plotline.
QueenPeary · 06/08/2021 10:57

Re Twitter isn’t real life, well it kind of is in that people on Twitter are real people - some of them at least. The person who wrote the fae article is a real person who is also someone’s mum apparently. (Unless it actually is a fake article!) This navel-gazing and obsessing over what your perfect made-up pronoun identity might be is going on in real life and being taken seriously in all kinds of circles. I do think it will blow over and we’ll all look back and wonder wtf happened, but it’s causing all kinds of damage right now. Look at the Green Party, simultaneously imploding and being distracted from its main purpose, because of trying to pander to this.

Chersfrozenface · 06/08/2021 11:14

@EmpressWitchDoesntBurn I went off on a frog tangent and found the very satisfying triad kwaak, vrak, kvæk

(kwaak is what frogs say in German and kvæk is what they say in Danish - so obviously now I have to go and found out what ducks say in those languages)

Oh, and zi is what mice say in Mandarin.

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 06/08/2021 11:21

When you find out, PLEASE come back & share!!!

In German ducks say quak quak and in Danish they say rap rap.

I would pay good money to see a rapping duck.

Ekofisk · 06/08/2021 11:29

Is this refusal to acknowledge real birth sex the result of being drunk on the koolaid?

I’m seeing people on Twitter claim that female isn’t a biological term and that changing the M to F on a birth certificate not only makes you a woman but actually female?

TedImgoingmad · 06/08/2021 11:52

Is it the whole sex is a social construct and didn't exist until the enlightenment thing? Sally Hines and the female skeleton not existing until the enlightenment idiocy?

I miss the 80s! All that freedom to wear what you want and to break down stereotypes and expectations. How has it all faded so fast? Is it the import of lots of US cultural things and/or the US dominated internet sites like Tumblr, etc?

Someone here (I think) a few weeks ago said that they’d show teens pictures of various New Romantics and the teens couldn’t believe they weren’t ‘trans’ or NB.

Jaysmith71 · 06/08/2021 12:33

It all starts in the 70s with Bowie, who managed to persuade a very dubious Mick Ronson, working class blerk from Hull, to wear make-up because it get him more girls.

(And lo, it came to pass...)

Chersfrozenface · 06/08/2021 12:39

Or the 70s. I remember being in a railway station with my one brother, both wearing T shirts, flared cotton trousers and men's barathea blazers. I had longish hair and his hair was longer than mine.

Perfectly normal for the time and our ages, and we were still female and male.

I was thinking that too. Give it a few years and this will be amazing (dark) comedy material.
