@DawnMumsnet

We've had some reports about this thread and, having checked behind the scenes, we can see that the OP joined the site to post this thread and has since deregistered.

We're going to leave this to run for now as so many of you have taken the time to respond, but we just wanted to let you know that the OP won't be returning to discuss any of the points raised...

That was fairly obvious.

Leaving it up provides an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the difference in behaviour between gender critical MNers and the sort of people who accuse us of transphobia.

Thelnebriati · 09/07/2021 12:13

Criminy don't people know how to format a URL?

If the State gives men the legal right to self ID as women and use women only spaces, then why would the incident have been reported to the police?
The issue is that staff won't challenge a man in a women only space in case he identifies as a woman.
There is nothing women can do about this, and men will defend the decision.

BaronMunchausen · 09/07/2021 12:52

There is evidently still some tension between the "it doesn't happen" meme and its successor, the "it happens, it's no big deal, get used to it" position.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 09/07/2021 13:09

Shame the other thread was taken down.

But bloody unreal that we're supposed to believe 'it was all a hoax, nothing to see here, ladies, look at your charming empty little heads, move along...'

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 09/07/2021 13:10

Actually, @mnhq, could you edit the thread title as it so deceptive? Actually dishonest.

ScreamingMeMe · 09/07/2021 13:23

Agreed.
Floisme · 09/07/2021 13:39

So basically this whole thread is a game of Knock-a-door-run?

Cailleach1 · 09/07/2021 13:56

Yeah, with a 'fake news' title.

334bu · 09/07/2021 14:00

Obviously exposing your male genitalia to women and children is no big deal and leads to nothing worse. Try telling that to Sarah Everard's family, if her murderer had been charged in 2015 with indecent exposure, she might be alive today.

CovidCorvid · 09/07/2021 14:04

@person78

So many logic fails in this "article." Where even to begin?

Waving a penis around in a women's spa area is legal in California if the penis haver identifies as a transwoman. Why, therefore, would the absence of a police report indicate that the incident is fabricated? After all, the conduct complained about is 100% legal under California law.

Yes exactly.

I can't imagine any woman would risk reporting to the LAPD, they'd run the risk of being arrested for a hate crime of daring to complain about it. How very Gilead.

CovidCorvid · 09/07/2021 14:08

@SuperSleepyBaby

The LA time said a possible solution might be separate areas for religious woman who can’t share spaces like this with men. So woman who are not religious, even those who have been sexually abused in the past, just either have to put up with it and say nothing - or else not use the facilities?
That wouldn't work because all women would then just identify as religious to get away from the penis. All the penis havers identifying as women would then identify as religious women to follow the women.

Because they don't like being excluded from any spaces and for some/many this is all about control. Telling women to put up and shut up.

Cailleach1 · 09/07/2021 14:13

Actually, the article is a load of rubbish. But the heading of this thread is even lying about what is stated or claimed in the article. Nowhere does the LAPD makes statement that this was staged in the article.

The 'author' is a pseudonym. I'm not surprised, if you had to stand by the drivel propaganda in it.

So, to reiterate, the article is all spin. And the thread heading is stating a lie about what the spin says.

Reminds me of those countries where women who report rape, then get charged with having extra marital sex or being alone with males outside of her family

So a third space then, just like everyone said riiiiiiight back at the beginning of this whole shit show 15+ years ago.

Most women will just lie and say they are religious and those that are happy to be in a mixed space can do so.

Cailleach1 · 09/07/2021 14:50

The one class of people who shouldn't use the women's single sex spaces are women who want to use women's single sex spaces. They should use some other space if they are uncomfortable with male bodies strutting around.

That is the gist. You couldn't make it up.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/07/2021 19:36

Thank you for editing the title.

Here’s another solution: men are compelled to be more accepting of gender non conforming males in their spaces!
yep, this

I'm bloody sick of men's transphobia - why can't they be accepting of gender non conforming males?

PurpleHoodie · 09/07/2021 20:27

FloralBunting

Oh they've totally shat themselves that the open noncery didn't go over as well as they blinkeredly thought it would

Yes.

This.

Men. Accept gender non-conforming males in your spaces.

Bernards post deserves a whole FWR section of its own.

QuinnMovesOn · 09/07/2021 21:43

This article feels a lot like the Jessica Yaniv situation in Canada, where initially the trans community was "Yayy, Jessica!" and then realized every single body waxing shop she filed suit against was owned by a minority female immigrant.

I have a Korean women-only spa in my city that I go to regularly. If someone with a erection showed up there and tried to touch me, first they'd draw back a bloody stump instead of a hand, and second I would absolutely call the police and get them arrested for assault.

PurpleHoodie · 09/07/2021 21:54

Racism AND Misogyny from TRAs and MRAs.

Such cozy bedfellows as always.

Then they must self-ID as religious.

Only then the transwomen will self-ID as religious women...

I've got a better idea. Why don't all of the women self-ID as men, and all of the men self-ID as women? Then there's a single-sex space for each and the transwomen won't feel lonely in the women's section. After all, if TWAW and genitals don't matter, then the transwomen won't mind being with some self-identifying transwomen, will they? Because they are women apparently.

Or is someone going to admit eventually that it's all just about getting to perve over naked women (the real ones) and that even though TWAW, other transwomen don't count?

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 09/07/2021 22:45

Thanks for editing the title, @MNHQ

If it happened, the person should be dealt with by law enforcement. What I'm getting despite a bit of digging is an unsubstantiated allegation. There's a video which, surprisingly seems to concentrate on the staff and some other customers in the foyer but oddly if I have to be honest, not on the alleged offender. If I'm GC, as much as I want to believe this happened I've still really got to be asking myself where is the 'trans genital waver'?

Beyond that, I've got to be asking if any other person present witnessed the same? I'm also thinking that given a reasonable description that this person must show on entrance to the car park cctv? Car park cctv with would really help an index number that would link a car to an owner.

As a result of that I think I've seen a trans woman who verifiably wasn't there being subject to death threats. Further, there appears to have been a demnstration by right leaning men and women against the spa that has never hidden its acceptance of trans people. The result of the demo appears to be that a right leaning GC gentleman has used a knife to hurt someone in his own group and someone in the group holding a counter protest.

So, as far as I can see, a suspect should be very easy to identify. Cctv at the entrance and exit, a list of easy identifiable trans service users and a list of all others to enter On that day including the person who restocked the coffee machine. Yes/no?

Looking at the reporter, I'm observing connections to a right wing male who has form for false flag stuff in a religious setting and what I think (I may be wrong) is what appears to be a very well polished camera appearance.

Now, more than ever, we deserve to know the unvarnished truth about this episode. Two people have been stabbed by a GC leaning ideologue in the name of Gender Critical ideology at a subsequent protest.

If a trans person has done wrong, let's identify them, as we would with any other criminal. If there is no evidence of wrong doing and even worse a suggestion of actions akin to McCarthyism let 's reflect on what has happened and if you are really willing to put your name to it?
