www.southwarknews.co.uk/news/exclusive-three-more-women-attacked-by-knife-wielding-suspect-in-east-dulwich/

From the article:

"Today (June 15) a 53-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in custody while enquiries continue.

Police say they believe she is the only suspect, and had initially been mistaken for a man. "

Who had mistaken her for a man. The police? The victims?

People have lost trust that they are getting the whole truth

This^ It doesn't really matter what sex the attacker is. The police said it was a woman, but people all over are questioning this - not just us transphobes on MN. It's really illustrative how much the police have fucked up when a simple statement like this is doubted by so many.

@Charley50

I thought breast milk was sterile?
this is very odd! "she is alleged to have sprayed breast milk into the face of a female deputy who was supervising her. The officer had to undergo decontamination due to the potential bio-hazard."
Paralithic · 18/06/2021 21:49

But in this UK case, how likely is it that a 51 year old woman (of the female variety) could “eject” breast milk?

Unlikely I would imagine. I'm trying to be scrupulously fair and not assume the police are lying.
WoolOfBat · 18/06/2021 22:05

I think that breast milk is unlikely to ejected from an obviously violent 53 year old women but I am open to be corrected.

geojellyfish · 18/06/2021 22:15

When I search Marie Archer on FB, there is a result (second on my list, but not necessarily the same position on others') that I can imagine might be relevant. Very little detail, but they do like one business page based in Penge, which is the location of the previous incident reported in the 2019 local news article.

SengaMac · 18/06/2021 22:33

It doesn't stay sterile.

NiceGerbil · 18/06/2021 22:49

Breast milk is sterile isn't it?. Like piss.

Not sure why that's important though!

Any bio fluids can carry infection though. Which is different.

I agree

And this is why this is so horrifically unfair

Just be fucking honest and tell us the truth

thymeofmylife · 19/06/2021 00:07

Neither breastmilk nor urine are sterile.

thymeofmylife · 19/06/2021 00:10

I live locally. One of the victims reported from the start that she was stabbed by a woman (and has since confirmed it was the woman who has been arrested).

NiceGerbil · 19/06/2021 00:23

The issue is that these days there is doubt.

Yes it could have been a woman.

Looking at the response on the police Twitter, the responses saying are you sure it's a woman are pretty much all of them.

This doesn't help men or women.

It means people don't trust the police in what they say.

It's a massively worrying situation created by the police going on self id and recording that.

These days when you read anything - from a Top 100 Women in..., Women’s Prize for..., To ‘woman arrested for... - the first thing you do is look for a photo, to have a ‘look see’.

That’s where we have got to in 2021zzz

BSJohnson · 19/06/2021 08:58

^ agree

Yes and when you see pronouns she/her/he/him you still have no idea if the sex of the person.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 19/06/2021 09:19

Funnily enough in real life the only people I’ve seen with pronouns added - are merely stating the bleeding obvious. I’ve not seen one that I’ve thought ‘oh well I would have got that wrong’.

Cailleach1 · 20/06/2021 12:32

Isn't waste eliminated? And, breast milk expressed.

If it is t'other, is ejected the same as ejaculated?
