"Today (June 15) a 53-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in custody while enquiries continue.

Who had mistaken her for a man. The police? The victims?

I'm confused.

I get the police take male offenders' word at being female and thus report as such despite all the evidence staring us in the face to the contrary.

...but WTF is about this person being 53?!

imagine this person in court & being id by witness lawyer "Now you are saying you were strangled by a man or a woman - your child says one thing & as you can see they are definitely a woman" ..."

I don’t know how realistic this might be but you hear about people being discredited as reliable witnesses in the stand - you say it was a man in his 20s/30s who attacked yet the accused is clearly a woman in her 50s….

According to the local police Twitter feed, a 53-year old woman called Marie Archer has been charged and was due to appear in court this morning:

Let's hope there's a reporter there who can clear up some of the inconsistencies. Perhaps Marie is a very youthful looking 53 year old.

How very very odd. Marie Archer must be very youthful to have fooled so many people into thinking she was a young black man. This is all so confusing!

I do really hope they have the right person, because those random, violent attacks were very scary.

This whole thing is utterly bizarre.

The attacks on the Dulwich forum were about a young black man with a single back ear pod in, strangling random women including in front one of their kids.

Is it possible they are transman? Transmen do superficially pass quite well, and they are known to have an offending rate higher that women not on testosterone. In my limited experience transmen can also look younger than you would expect.

I agree though, there is something very, very odd about this case.

I was also wondering if they were a transman. But assuming that it's the same Marie Archer referenced in that other news article from 2019 (fair assumption as all crimes in SE London) I am far from clear now. Why on earth do they keep referencing a secret bodily fluid, as well as spit. I've definitely read the word "urine" on local news before.

This post points to the police charging Marie Archer for assaults in Wood Vale and Sydenham though? The woman attacked in front of her child was in Wood Vale.

Sex specific body fluid e.g semen or breast milk? By giving more information about the fluid they would indicate the individuals sex?

The discrepancy in age is enough to make me suspect that Marie might be an actual woman.

Women who are read as male at first glance appear far younger than their age, while males-read-as-female look much older.

By giving more information about the fluid they would indicate the individual's actual sex rather than what has been reported.

A 53 year old female, with enough grip strength and large enough hand span to attempt to strangle a younger woman?

I don’t find that compelling.

I would believe that they are the same person as the 2019 incident and would believe that the ‘ejected’ bodily fluid is accurately recorded.

I had a squint at the public list for today at Bromley Magistrates court, and there isn’t a Marie Archer on it.

It might be a good strategy for women being threatened or attacked to call 999 and claim to be a trans person being mis gendered or otherwise subjected to a perceived hate crime. Perhaps they could mention that they were having an attack of the vapours at the sight of ribbons in suffrage colours.
