www.southwarknews.co.uk/news/exclusive-three-more-women-attacked-by-knife-wielding-suspect-in-east-dulwich/

From the article:

"Today (June 15) a 53-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in custody while enquiries continue.

Police say they believe she is the only suspect, and had initially been mistaken for a man. "

Who had mistaken her for a man. The police? The victims?

Certainly, it is possible it was a woman who was mistaken by 4 people she attacked for a man. (Maybe because they have assume knife attackers to be male). I'm not ruling it out. But I'm betting on the other possibility for now.

FightingtheFoo · 16/06/2021 10:11

If this comes to court and the victims are made to use female pronouns I will personally give every penny I have to legally challenge the bench book.

PronounssheRa · 16/06/2021 10:24

Strangling strikes me as a very male crime, this whole story is odd, not helped by the fact you can't believe what the police say anymore.

As for the inaction of the police, that is a disgrace. They virtue signal about violence against women and girls, but in reality this is how they act

DiscoJanet · 16/06/2021 10:29

I live near where this happened, and there's been discussion on the local forum (including from the first victim herself). The attacker was initially described by her as a man in his 20s. It makes no sense whatsoever that the person arrested is not only female but also apparently 53. It's about as unlikely you might misjudge someone's age so drastically as you might their actual sex too. This whole thing, including the utterly appalling 'response' from the police, just stinks.

I think this may be interesting, it certainly confirms what we all thought.

This is a mess, women's confidence in the police must be decreasing. I'm generally supportive of them but I've started to feel they can't be trusted.

There are individual police officers who are decent but as an institution I do not trust the police at all anymore.

Ah. This is absolutely bonkers. It's actually intefering with police work and isn't helping victims.or potential victims either. Absolutely mad and bereft of common sense. I'm raging!

Helleofabore · 16/06/2021 11:47

I am not sure I know many women who have the height needed to be able to strangle another woman, the power of grip or the handspan. Although, it didn’t say whether the person tried to strangle with something other than hands, which again requires height and power.

But I guess the victim and the other women, they were all mistaken and we are all just nasty people.

I do look forward to the photos during the court case.

That is absolutely bonkers. Wtf is going on here?

PronounssheRa · 16/06/2021 12:48

Women in the area are asking if the police have arrested the right person and whether they are safe.

This is what happens when words no longer have meaning

MarshaBradyo · 16/06/2021 19:46

No idea what’s going on with the sex part but worrying as my area

FOJN · 16/06/2021 20:25

I am not sure I know many women who have the height needed to be able to strangle another woman,

The first victim estimated her attackers height to be about 5'7" although we don't know her height. Her account is on the East Dulwich forum linked above.

Does anyone remember this case and gem of a news report?

QuentinBunbury · 16/06/2021 20:37

That's a good one
Maybe the US does it better than our press

That is a gem. That's just trolling now 😂

HecatesCatsInFancyHats · 16/06/2021 23:29

Gaslighting bullshit.

ProudExclu · 17/06/2021 01:13

@QuentinBunbury Jesus I’m from Ilkeston and thought that was gonna be about him then.

ProudExclu · 17/06/2021 01:14

*oops meant to put thought that was gonna be about my ex.

SengaMac · 17/06/2021 01:17
Sad I'm totally sick of this 'woman' crap for males. They are still male, whatever they call themselves, so they should be reported as being male if the police and press are so confused about what is a woman or a man.
RickiTarr · 17/06/2021 01:19

@toffeebutterpopcorn

“Excuse me, could I possibly ask - if you could just stop jabbing at me with that kitchen knife for a no - I’m wondering, am I addressing Mr Mad Attacker or Ms Mad Attacker?”

Aren’t stranglers and stabbers statistically more likely to be male? Women are more likely to be poisoners (or so I read somewhere).

Such beautiful manners. 😊
TurquoiseLemur · 17/06/2021 01:26

@GreyhoundG1rl

I'll bet there's a damn good reason this person was "mistaken" for a man Hmm
I agree.

Am aware of someone (they were on my Facebook Friends list for all of half an hour before I did some much-needed defriending) who insists they are a woman. Keeps changing the terms used but one of them was "trans lesbian."

This person has a moustache.

NiceGerbil · 17/06/2021 01:38

The major issue with this is that

Violent crimes committed by women are unusual and sex offences more so

They usually get in the press because it's out of the ordinary

Many just glance at headlines

The fact that the general public will get the impression that women are out raping, assaulting, using knives and attacking strangers etc will just gradually seep in

There is a massive pushback around highlighting male violence, from various quarters. Women do it too!

This will push the societal view to those thoughts. Especially given that most men and women and everyone have massive discomfort about facing up to that, even hearing it.

The MRAs have been pushing this for years.
Women are just as violent as men in relationships they just never report it.
And then the current topic. A thread the other day said that women were saying they would beat a transwoman in the ladies to death. ???!!! So the idea that women are as violent as men, as likely to attack people, and as likely to overpower their victim is handy. Bollocks obviously. But very handy.

Shifting societal perceptions about the vulnerability of women and girls, that they are violent, carry out assaults and sex offences, and in general can look after themselves and in fact are well able to attack men randomly and win. That's a worrying message for loads of reasons.

FOJN · 17/06/2021 07:33

That's just trolling now 😂

You would think so wouldn't you but we know that the majority of people simply do not understand this is the reality of self ID which is why the "be kind" movement is still so pervasive.

Keeps changing the terms used but one of them was "trans lesbian."

Google mspec lesbian to see how far we've come. Shock
