That twitter thread is marvellous. Thank you for linking

PearPickingPorky · 10/06/2021 15:56

@BrownTableMat

Very interesting fact about Anya Palmer, the junior barrister on Maya’s legal team:

Before coming to the bar Anya worked for Stonewall where she was involved in a number of high-profile test cases seeking to establish equal rights for lesbians and gay men.

Oh wow.

She must feel particularly gutted seeing what Stonewall have now become.

Great thread on Ovarit curating all the responses from lawyers and GC journalists on the subject of Maya's judgement

Helleofabore · 10/06/2021 16:44

I have not checked, but will that mean that Maya will recoup some of her costs to be able to use them for the next stage if she choses to?

Mollyollydolly · 10/06/2021 16:59

TUC here trying to make sure no woman values her union memberships.

Victory for Maya!
toffeebutterpopcorn · 10/06/2021 17:11

I love how they all bang on about equality, dignity and respect - when they are arguing against those very same things for women. How do they square that circle?

WarriorN · 10/06/2021 17:17

PN report out on twitter.

Some confused people there 🙄

TipseyTorvey · 10/06/2021 17:20

Brilliant news. Has given me the first sense of hope for women's rights in years. Well done Maya and team for fighting for us all. Adult human females are real!!

WarriorN · 10/06/2021 17:22

Maya is responsible for the torture of intersex people apparently.

EsmaCannonball · 10/06/2021 18:10

I wish all the media reports of this would include a photo of the person Maya so very cruelly misgendered, along with their (sic) social media posts about women. It would certainly add context for those new to the issue.

SirVixofVixHall · 10/06/2021 19:02

Can you post it here Esma ?

Rhannion · 10/06/2021 19:03

Scottish lawyers have sent a letter to the Scottish Government re the hate crime bill !

Posted too soon re the hate crime bill and they are the same team who ( triggering )

tweeted the petition on recording correctly the sex of rapists

Rhannion · 10/06/2021 19:08

Mr Murray is a total baw bag along with David Paisley

Another lovely quote from Maya's lawyer

"As the judgment makes clear, reliance on a particular philosophical belief is no defence to unlawful harassment. This applies where that belief is held corporately by a university or other institution, or by those who assert that they are campaigning for trans rights."

So any trans activist who now wishes to harass women and issue threats to them can and should be dealt with by the police - because it's a hate crime, innit.

justanotherneighinparadise · 10/06/2021 19:52

So all of the TRAs on Twitter threatening to attack ‘TERFS’ whilst brandishing weapons can be reported now under to Hate Bill? Wouldn’t that be nice.

Freespeecher · 10/06/2021 19:54

Not sure if it's been touched on already but I remember the original judge really teeing off on Forstater when delivering his judgement.

Nice to see those remarks essentially scrubbed from the record.

Delphinium20 · 10/06/2021 19:55

Her lawyer's comments really show how this is a great win for freedom of thought. Well done, Maya!!!

PCRandcrochet · 10/06/2021 20:03

A secondary win for me today in seeing my Labour MP congratulating Maya on Twitter. The tide has turned!

PCRandcrochet · 10/06/2021 20:05

Nice to see those remarks essentially scrubbed from the record

Not just scrubbed, discredited @Freespeecher

JaneyHenderson · 10/06/2021 20:08

Amazing news. Well done Maya and team. Immense bravery and tenacity. Made my day!

PenguindreamsofDraco · 10/06/2021 20:09

@yourhairiswinterfire

Yet another court case about trans people with no representation from trans people

As has already been pointed out, it wasn't about trans people.

Having said that, a transwoman (I've forgotten her name but I'll look it up) backed Maya originally, and her statement was read out again at the appeal.

Kristina Harrison.
ArabellaScott · 10/06/2021 20:11

Blooming brilliant news.

Just here to raise a glass/cup to everyone.
