This just pinged up on my BBC news app and I genuinely punched the air!

I am SO thrilled for her. GO MAYA! Thank you for all that you've done Thanks

VivaDixie · 10/06/2021 10:56

I came on to find this thread as u got a BBC alert.

Well done Maya. You shouldn't have had to do this but well done you for sticking with it xxxx

disconnected101 · 10/06/2021 10:58

Incredible. Incredible. I heard through an email notification from Glinner. Also did an air punch - possibly for the first time in my life! Then found myself welling up. Amazing.
It's easy to say it could only ever have gone this way, and that sense and logic would prevail but that can never be taken for granted, given how crazy and dystopian things have seemed in recent years. But it feels like people are waking up and the tide is turning. Thanks in no small part to Maya and an incredibly brave minority like her. Well bloody done all involved!!

OwBist · 10/06/2021 11:00

Fabulous news, and even better that it came up on the BBC as a "breaking news" alert. Smile

Iwasonlytryingtohelp · 10/06/2021 11:00

Awesome woman, truly.

Emma Barnett discussing it on Women Hour and giving the last word to a transwoman Brew

Lockheart · 10/06/2021 11:03

Should have been Hmm

CousinKrispy · 10/06/2021 11:05

That is wonderful news for Maya and for everyone.

The belief that biological sex in humans can't be changed, and the expression of that belief, should be allowed in a free society just as much as the belief that humans can change sex (a belief I may disagree with, but know that others have the right to express).

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 10/06/2021 11:09

Be braver today than you were yesterday

//

Goosebumps, anyone?!

Having been disappointed at flippin cloud coverage spoiling the partial eclipse this news has improved my mood immeasurably.

Congratulations Maya 👏

BlackeyedSusan · 10/06/2021 11:09

I was scared to look. SexMatters is trending, Maya is trending, mentioned on Woman's Hour.
Fantastic news. Admire you so much Maya if you're reading the comments.
And thank you to all the women who stood with you.

RedthroatedCaracara · 10/06/2021 11:14

No one can be forced to profess a belief they do not hold like "transwomen are women"

SirSamuelVimes · 10/06/2021 11:15

FUCKING YES!!!!!

Nodal · 10/06/2021 11:15

having a "sanity prevails" moment. How can it be hateful/illegal to say you don't share somebody else's opinion?

DancesWithTortoises · 10/06/2021 11:16

So full of admiration. Such courage.
