Bloody hell Johnathon Ross stuck his head above the parapet again did he? I bet his daughter is furious.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 11/06/2021 07:15

I heard about ten mins on LBC after 2am. The presenter seemed to be laying into/scoffing as Maya and kept saying ‘you can change sex - it’s been done many times, YOU CAN CHANGE SEX!’ Then scoffed at a listener who asked if he (Asian) could change his race by lightening his skin (that would be ridiculous of course because race isn’t just physical Confused).

I got up to make a cup of tea when a caller got on, again was dismissive about Maya (‘or whatever her name is’ - type comment) and said that they had felt like a female since childhood (my question would of course been ‘how did you know!) but I was anticipating a love fest so decided that some caffeine would be more restful than listening to this one sided ‘discussion’.

Don’t know who the presenter was but he was one... man.

ScreamingMeMe · 11/06/2021 07:17

JKR gives no shits about thr pitchfork mob and it's glorious to see.

BrownTableMat · 11/06/2021 07:27

Times leader column today also in support of Maya

MarshaBradyo · 11/06/2021 07:43

Just heard radio sum up the Times views.

Good to hear it plainly said

BlueLipstickRocks · 11/06/2021 07:49

I've listened to Mayas statement and one glaring error I noticed.

She refers to the protected characteristic of Gender Identity,

Gender identity is not and never has been a protected characteristic. This was a lie from Stonewall. The protected characteristic is Gender Reassignment and the spirit of the law was always transsexuals- 5000 or so people and not the 600k to 1mil that are claiming protection.

BlueLipstickRocks · 11/06/2021 07:55

She believes trans women holding certificates that recognise their transgender identity cannot describe themselves as women.?

This is entirely incorrect.

Maya has never been opposed to transsexuals and has been supported by many TS people. Back at the start of this situation I was in contact with Maya discussing this.

There is no such thing as a certificate recognising a transgender identity. There is a certifucate recognising TRANSSEXUAL identity (a GRC)....

@justanotherneighinparadise

Bloody hell Johnathon Ross stuck his head above the parapet again did he? I bet his daughter is furious.
I had the same thought!
SirSamuelVimes · 11/06/2021 08:32

@Pan2

JK Rowling Not sure if this is a big thing, but JK Rowling 'liked' a tweet of mine, just now, about Maya. Do I save this for ever? Feeling a bit dizzy. Grin
I would definitely count that as a big thing!
ErrolTheDragon · 11/06/2021 08:50

Mostly supportive comments in the Times that I've read so far.
One or two somewhat daft
Meanwhile, BBC bitesize GCSE revision goes on explaining biological sex. Is this taught as a belief or fact?

Standard accepted facts can also be 'beliefs' - the shape of the earth, evolution etc. What's their point?Confused

Bryonyshcmyony · 11/06/2021 08:56

I presume the point is that if kids are taught at school that chromosomes determine biological sex then biological sex must be fixed and unchangeable? And that kids are taught this as fact. I presume it doesn't say "some people believe that male chromosomes are XY"?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 11/06/2021 13:02

@PCRandcrochet

Nice to see those remarks essentially scrubbed from the record

Not just scrubbed, discredited @Freespeecher

YIS!!!

Winsome little minx, isn't they?

Dvk5658 · 11/06/2021 20:23

Maya, you beauty! I watched the mess we’re in celebration live. It was a glorious time!

FannyCann · 12/06/2021 10:10

It's incredibly depressing to see the list of appointments Gregor Murray achieved. Gregor would seem to be singularly unsuited for any of those positions.

•	Convener of the Children and Families Service Committee
•	Council’s Spokesperson on Equal Opportunities.Member of
•	The Council’s service Committees (City Development, Children and Families, Development Management, Neighbourhood Services and Community Safety and Public Protection)
•	Representative, COSLA Board (Children and Young People)
•	Representative, Dundee Partnership (Children and Families Executive Board)
toffeebutterpopcorn · 12/06/2021 10:12

Wasn’t they also a Scot leader?

FannyCann · 12/06/2021 10:18

I'm sure that's not the definitive list, I just copied the top few as they related to children and families. Also unsuited to being a scout leader.

notthenever · 12/06/2021 10:45

What did Jonathon Ross say?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 12/06/2021 11:13

@notthenever

What did Jonathon Ross say?
It went something like (paraphrasing, obviously)

Wanker: As a follower of yours I am disappointed etc

JR: As a non-follower of you, your disappointment means nothing to me

W: I believe that TWs are W, blah, blah, blah blah blah blah

JR: Fair enough - you are entitled to believe that

W: BUT BLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAH

JR: I don't really care about your opinion.

I found it mildly satisfying, but am not too impressed with Ross either, as he kept his head well below the parapet prior to Maya's judgement

SirSamuelVimes · 12/06/2021 11:29

Baby steps. I'll take it for now.

notthenever · 12/06/2021 11:41

Thanks @SchadenfreudePersonified Grin
