Labour and Self-id

twitter.com/PinkNews/status/1402586773499244549

Rosie Duffield gets the predictable kicking in the comments. Still no public support for her. That's what the Labour leadership think about women's rights and women who have an opinion.

Why any women would vote Labour I really do not know.

That's fucking awful.

FOJN · 17/06/2021 23:26

It's beyond depressing. I keep hoping for a sign they haven't forgotten women are human they just seem to reinforce their contempt for us at every opportunity.

YellowFish12 · 17/06/2021 23:27

On 10 June, Laurie posted a tweet describing the procedural decision in favour of high-profile transphobe Maya Forstater at an employment tribunal as a “victory for women’s rights” and a “victory for free speech”, invoking two dangerous transphobic tropes

So that’s it, women’s rights ARE transphobic? At least they are admiring the conflict at least.

YellowFish12 · 17/06/2021 23:27

Admitting

CrossPurposes · 17/06/2021 23:33

That is a terrifying mindset.

YellowFish12 · 17/06/2021 23:39

Is it libel? Calling someone a transphobe with no evidence of any transphobic actions or statements?

FOJN · 17/06/2021 23:51

Laurie Burton has been reported to the Labour Party, and we sincerely hope that the leadership will defy our low expectations and punish him.

This was the most concerning line for me, manipulative, bullying and vengeful. Who would want to be associated with that.

SirVixofVixHall · 18/06/2021 00:11

@AtrociousCircumstance

If Starmer spoke up for the rights of women, he could win.
I agree. He was such a bloody disappointment on here though, he weaseled out of everything. I lost any respect for him after that. He needs to grow a spine.
DdraigGoch · 18/06/2021 01:28

@Tesla73

very interesting point made in the comments on that article:

Harry Goldstein says:

An excellent article.. However, I tried to link to it on Facebook and I got the following message:

Were you aware that this censorship was going on?

Funny how their concerns about spam never quite manage to deal with the witch doctor and bitcoin peddlers who appear in the comments on what seems like every post.
Letsgetreadytocrumble · 18/06/2021 07:11

That statement! 😂

Who are 'Labour Nexus'?

PronounssheRa · 18/06/2021 07:22

Who are 'Labour Nexus'?

They claim to be a campaign group, who are a broad church who welcome and respect different opinions. Apart from those relating to womens rights, obviously

Starmer and the Labour Party Really Cannot Read the Room
FOJN · 18/06/2021 07:37

According to their website, "Labour Nexus is a campaign force to unite our party and bring Labour to Downing Street". Their aims are listed know their website.

labournexus.org.uk/

I'm not sure reporting a Labour councillor and demanding he is punished for having an opinion is the best way forward if unity is your aim.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 18/06/2021 07:44

Looks like Labour really are more concerned with intellectual purity than anything else.

It’s incredibly sad & disappointing at just how far down the rabbit hole they are but it is what it is

So long Labour, I voted for you all my life. Thanks for shitting on women you absolute bunch of bastards

PronounssheRa · 18/06/2021 09:08

Labour Nexus who we are page is very male, the 2 twitter handles that could be female have deactivated. One of which was the chair who put out that statement.

It's just another by the men for the men group, women are allowed as long as they don't have opinions

622 votes in a constituency of 38,000 is so bad it's comical.

Where does Labour think it's heading?

Where does Labour think it's heading?

Labour lost their deposit in the by-election having received just 1.6% of the votes.

That is astonishing

18th October 2018 OP
"Yesterday on a thread condemning Stephen Whittle's use of predicted suicide, he joined and commented confidently:

In the end we will pull ourselves together and continue the campaigning – as we have always done. We know we have Labour behind this one, so will simply do our best to get them elected. As I tell the community “we have always lost more battles than we have won, but we only ever need to win the big one”.

I hope that clarifies matters.

Last night at Pink News party, Jeremy Corbyn apparently confirmed Whittle's belief:
'PinkNews Awards 2018: Jeremy Corbyn vows support for transgender reforms'
by Nick Duffy
(extract)
"Speaking about transgender rights, he said: “We must speak up for the trans community, who today face shocking attacks in the media—just as lesbian and gay people did in the 1980s—as well as now online, which can be a wonderful place but also a horrendous place where attacks take place.

“Labour supports reform of the Gender Recognition Act and Equality Act to allow for self-declaration. The deadline for Government’s consultation is on Friday.

“Trans people must be able to live full, healthy, and happy lives—being the person they want to be. Labour will stand up for their right to do so.”

Yesterday too, the Labour Party promoted Stonewall's guidance for the GRA:

Where does Labour think it's heading?

Tactical voting.

Sometimes people really do get together to undermine FPTP.

For some reason, it happdns far less in General Elections.

Layla Moran is thanking people for 'lent votes' on Twitter.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/06/2021 10:23

On 10 June, Laurie posted a tweet describing the procedural decision in favour of high-profile transphobe Maya Forstater at an employment tribunal as a “victory for women’s rights” and a “victory for free speech”

He positively commented on a judgement where gender critical beliefs and some element of freedom of speech related to them were confirmed as protected in law, so is as entitled as Maya is to hold the same protected belief, and they go after him? Not too bright, are they?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/06/2021 10:24

Layla Moran is thanking people for 'lent votes' on Twitter.

Ugh. I expect she can see into their souls and tell who was normally a Labour voter.

NecessaryScene · 18/06/2021 10:30

entitled as Maya is to hold the same protected belief, and they go after him? Not too bright, are they?

It does seem pretty fucking dim.

I think they may be protected from their dimness by the fact it's a political party, and it's not clear to me how much legal requirement there is on political parties to not discriminate on belief, or anything else, within their membership. There may be no recourse - it isn't employment, or housing, or any sort of service, or the government. It's notionally a private organisation.

But I doubt they thought that deeply into it.

JustSpeculation · 18/06/2021 10:48

Layla Moran is thanking people for 'lent votes' on Twitter.

All votes are lent. Or should be.

Jess Phillips seemed completely unperturbed on the radio news this morning. Brexit ain't gone yet. Good to be reminded.

RoyalCorgi · 18/06/2021 10:53

Is it libel? Calling someone a transphobe with no evidence of any transphobic actions or statements?

It certainly is. They must rely on Maya being too busy with her other legal action to sue them. Or possibly they are just stupid.

Beamur · 18/06/2021 11:54

By-election result might have more to do with HS2 than anything else. Hugely unpopular locally.
Dismal result for Labour
