Girl pushed under train.

Thelnebriati · 10/05/2021 22:50

The girls all have to run past the boys to board the train.
One girl is kicked in the face, spat on, shoved, tripped up, and ends up falling on to the tracks.

The guard in they hi vis yellow jacket just watches.

I'm at the end of my tether with male violence and entitlement.

Absolutely shocking.

Have they been arrested? The assaults are there for all to see see, absolutely clear. As one has been identified surely the police should have swiftly brought him into custody and charged him while they identify the rest.

ittakes2 · 11/05/2021 07:28

This is so dreadful. The girl kicked in the face was not the girl who fell under the train. I have signed the petition for the boy who kicked the girl in the face - but there was two other boys that caused the other girl to fall onto the tracks. One looked like he spat at her or got in her face - the boy behind him moved his bike tyre and took her feet from under her. Appaulling behaviour I hope they are all made an example of.

Womansisterdaughtermother · 11/05/2021 07:32

Feeling deeply ashamed.. That young women in my city are being subjected to this.Blush.. So shocking. Has family breakdown contributed to the lawlessness of young males? Imagine having one of these thugs living at home...

SuperSleepyBaby · 11/05/2021 07:33

Yes, it is not clear if that boy is spitting or doing an aggressive head butt type move to intimidate the girls. Either are awful - especially spitting while covid is a risk.

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep · 11/05/2021 07:34

@SuperSleepyBaby

I pointed out that these boys would attack anyone vulnerable because it is a fact. They do not just target girls. I have come across these groups and am scared of them. I have set on a train when it stopped at a station and a big group of them got on and seen how they act towards anyone they feel like picking on.

This issue is about a gang of out of control youths attacking anyone they come across who is vulnerable whether they are male or female. A lone teenage boy would have been given the same treatment by them - as they are brave in a gang.

Women are more vulnerable than men.
Summerhillsquare · 11/05/2021 07:35

I can only assume this thread started out not in Feminism, because the apologists for male violence on this thread are appalling. As other are pointing out, there are no gangs of violent girls kicking boys in the head - its men. The police tolerate it, the train co tolerates it, society tolerates it. Enough.

My gut reaction is to wish those boys harm or say they need locking up and ideally sterilising. I am so fearful of that display of overt, entitled, male violence I feel sick. And the fact they are likely heterosexual and at some point be attempting relationships with perhaps the same girls is especially wrong.

I don't know really what the solution is though. I am sure there is trauma and unhappiness in those boys' backgrounds. I do know that the problem of male violence should be talked about constantly and made a political priority. And yes of course male violence is bad for males too. I am angry at the way attention and resources are directed towards identity politics when this is the discussion we need to be having.

SRS29 · 11/05/2021 07:46

One question I saw on Twitter which was very relevant was why wehere all the train doors closed apart from the last carriage forcing the girls to have to walk past the group of boys? They were seen trying all the doors and having to move down the platform to then be spat at, kicked and pushed as we saw....made me feel physically sick watching Angry

Crockof · 11/05/2021 07:46

And the member of staff ignoring it.

PiccalilliChilli · 11/05/2021 07:46

I have to defend my Irish guard colleague here. On my job we are told not to get involved but raise the alarm and report afterwards. Too many rail staff in the UK have been injured by getting involved in stopping fights. The police and operating companies tell us not to. It's probably the same for Irish Rail. It's because we could make things worse and also the train companies hate sickness post assault because it can take weeks or months which costs them money.

groovergirl · 11/05/2021 07:52

This YouTube clip identifies three of the perpetrators.

echt · 11/05/2021 07:53

Is there a need to boot someone off the thread for adding context?

Please. It was advice. If I could boot people off MN I would have done it years ago. Pack in your hyperbole.

They're not saying NAMALT

I didn't say that. Read what I said, why don't you?

it's best to open up discourse than shut it down is all I'm saying

Not when this is about women. Find somewhere else to expand the range.

WorkWorkAngelica · 11/05/2021 07:54

No one is saying there are groups of women doing the same and no one has said it's not all men. It's very clearly a group of young men and predominantly a problem among young men/boys. I don't think I've read a post saying women do the same thing, unless I've missed it.

All people are saying is that it's not specifically a male on female violence issue. It's a male on vulnerable people issue. Women are by default more vulnerable. This particular video is of girls being attacked. No one is denying those things but adding context that there are other victims in other attacks.

I really don't see any male apologists or NAMALT though. Confused

SuperSleepyBaby · 11/05/2021 07:56

I think the doors were locked because the train was due to leave and the guard was kicking the gang out of one carriage. If the other carriages had been left open, then the boys might jump into those carriages and intimidate the people in there.

ARoseByAnyOtherNameIsStillAs · 11/05/2021 07:57

How is the poor girl that fell between the train and platform (head first) and the girl that was kicked in the head? It's sickening behaviour.

Have they all been named and arrested?

I feel sick that they have done this and that they would even consider this type of behaviour.

I agree the football club need to end the career of the violent thug - what do his football club say? Have they made an announcement about this?

SunflowersAndLavender · 11/05/2021 07:58

Seems to be a huge problem in seaside townships in Dublin. Access on Dart from city centre to Howth Malahide Bray and Greystones increased today to 50% capacity. This is only going to get worse. Terrible invasion for locals

I don't understand this comment. Whay is a terrible invasion for locals? Invasion by what/whom?

hellywelly3 · 11/05/2021 07:59

This was 1st April and no arrests have been made yet!! Wtf

SuperSleepyBaby · 11/05/2021 08:01

Gangs from more socially deprived areas use the trains to visit seaside towns so they can hang out on the beach etc and have fun causing trouble. But these gangs also cause trouble in their home areas too. No one deserves to have to put up with people like this whether they are from poor or wealthy areas.

ARoseByAnyOtherNameIsStillAs · 11/05/2021 08:03

Someone up thread said this is a problem in Dublin. My question is WHY are the Dublin authorities/MP/police/local groups all not shouting loud that it must be sorted. WHY are the girls head down almost expecting it. Is this normal in Dublin?

Dublin is off the list of potential places to visit until they protect their own girls/women. Disgusted with Dublin that this is perceived as normal or usual. If you are from Dublin and aware this occurs on a regular basis why is it allowed to?

Usually coming from the north side of Dublin.

But it is a phenomenon all over Dublin, just less so than the north side.

The head-down-and-rush-through-as-fast-as-you-can is the typical response.

Hope this video makes the authorities take youth violence and intimidation seriously.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 11/05/2021 08:09

I hope this is not shushed up under ‘oh but he is an aspiring footballer/architect/vet/DJ... what about his career??😭’ defence.

Little shits.

GCAcademic · 11/05/2021 08:09

They’ve issued some platitudes about standing against violence against women and that they will look into the incident, followed by that statement that the petition is a breach of the scum’s human rights.

SunflowersAndLavender · 11/05/2021 08:09

I'm a railway guard in the UK. We are absolutely NOT trained or equipped for anything physical. We are told to avoid confrontation, to retreat to a safe place and call the police or ask our security contractors to intervene.

I think we've reached a stage where we need to priortise recruiting huge numbers of public transport police/security to patrol all trains and tubes to a much greater extent than they do. It's true that there insufficient guards/conductors on PT these days but they are toothless tigers anyway.
