Girl pushed under train.

458 replies

Thelnebriati · 10/05/2021 22:50

The girls all have to run past the boys to board the train.
One girl is kicked in the face, spat on, shoved, tripped up, and ends up falling on to the tracks.

The guard in they hi vis yellow jacket just watches.

I'm at the end of my tether with male violence and entitlement.

What struck me too is how inured to it the girls seem to be. They’re just heads-down, trying to push through to catch their train, not even shocked at the yobs, just numb to it all

I thought that too. The one that got a kick just hurried on her way. This sort of thing must happen a lot.

@echt

Those types of boys attack anyone they see as weak or vulnerable - they would go after a lone man as well. It seems the same group attacked a boy aged about 15 recently and he ended up in hospital

Could you really not do this? These were women who were attacked. What happens to men need another thread.

Thing is, this has been a problem in Dublin for years and they target anyone they perceive weaker than they are, they also harass elderly people.

I wish the authorities would do something about it but there’s way too much tolerance for petty crime and violence in Dublin. I don’t live there anymore but it was one of the more ‘memorable’ things about living there

SuperSleepyBaby · 11/05/2021 06:20

I pointed out that these boys would attack anyone vulnerable because it is a fact. They do not just target girls. I have come across these groups and am scared of them. I have set on a train when it stopped at a station and a big group of them got on and seen how they act towards anyone they feel like picking on.

This issue is about a gang of out of control youths attacking anyone they come across who is vulnerable whether they are male or female. A lone teenage boy would have been given the same treatment by them - as they are brave in a gang.

Clymene · 11/05/2021 06:22

This is not something that happens everywhere. I e never seen such a shocking incident before. Why haven't they been arrested?

SuperSleepyBaby · 11/05/2021 06:25

Even if they are eventually arrested they generally get off lightly. There are no consequences to scare them into controlling their behaviour.

FortVictoria · 11/05/2021 06:32

@TheInebriati - thanks for highlighting this. What a shocking incident. And, as other posters have noted, perhaps the most shocking thing of all is that none of the girls appear surprised by this. I have signed and circulated the petition. I hope something comes of it.

Sunglasses2 · 11/05/2021 06:35

There's been a couple of horrific crimes in France recently. One where a woman was shot in the legs and doused in a flammable liquid and burned to death by her ex who'd previously been in prison for awful abuse.
The other 2 classmates of a girl beat her up and threw her in the Seine and she drowned.

NutellaEllaElla · 11/05/2021 06:37

Dick heads on here with the NAMALT, as PP said where are the female gangs wandering the streets injuring people? Fack offff. This is a MALE VIOLENCE PROBLEM. Call it what it is.

Signed the petition. Thank you for raising awareness.

It's also sickening that the football player will probably keep his job. Let no one ever say that false accusations ruin mens lives, documented video evidence will barely blemish his. The girl could've died.

Well done on finding the exception to the rule. What's the proportion male perpetrated to female violence? The most cursory of google research will tell you.

This a thread on Feminist Chat about what happened to those women.

StayingHere · 11/05/2021 06:44

Jesus christ I'm not easily shocked but this is horrific. I hope these boys are severely punished for such hideous behaviour.

Ok but you should know the wider context. Dublin has had a problem with ‘feral youth’ as I call them for a long time and nothing is ever done about them.
TheJackieWeaver · 11/05/2021 06:48

I felt sick watching that even before she fell. Absolutely disgusting.

ThatIsMyPotato · 11/05/2021 06:48

This is horrendous

Then re- post the link on a thread of your own where you say look at how awful this is but it's not just women who get attacked.

Try AIBU.

SunsetBeetch · 11/05/2021 06:50

@TheBullfinch

Good god. Just Googled attacks in Dublin by gangs of youths and it seems its rife and nothing new. Gangs of 100 on the rampage, jumping on cars, attacking people, and nobody can stop them it seems.
Bloody hell that's scary.
SuperSleepyBaby · 11/05/2021 06:58

There is no point pretending this is just about a group of boys who target women. It is anyone vulnerable. And i fully know that women are vulnerable in many circumstances- I have been sexually assaulted on a street when I was about 14.

I live near there and i have come across these groups and seen how they act. They are not scared of grown men either - they know a man can’t hit them as he is the one who will end up being prosecuted for assaulting a minor. They are not scared of the police as they know there is no real consequences.

I have seen they intimidating lone men - and the man has to keep his head down or he will be beaten by a gang of 10 or 20 boys.

Is there a need to boot someone off the thread for adding context? They're not saying NAMALT but adding that these thugs target people more vulnerable. IMO it's best to open up discourse than shut it down is all i'm saying.

@NutellaEllaElla
What are you talking about? I posted that as an example of male violence against women. The woman's ex was male and one of the classmates was male too. Both victims were women. Hmm

NutellaEllaElla · 11/05/2021 07:08

Apologies if i misunderstood!

WarriorN · 11/05/2021 07:19

I watched that with horror yesterday, the why they worked like a pack and the girls knew it was going to happen.

I recognise how they tried so hard to just ignore them.

I remember having to learn that trick as a young teen.

SunsetBeetch · 11/05/2021 07:21

I don't think there's anything wrong with pointing out that these gangs attack anyone they perceive as vulnerable. Truth is truth. It's still an epidemic of male violence that puts women in danger.

The NAMALT and Women Do It Too crowds can feck off though.

YouWerePrettyIWasLonely · 11/05/2021 07:23

My brother lives in Balbriggan Dublin and there have been problems with gangs for years, especially male gangs sexually assaulting girls and women. The media won't report and the Gardai do nothing. The residents have taken to marching. I don't hold out much hope that the thugs in the video will get much more than their hands slapped.

pollylocketpickedapocket · 11/05/2021 07:23

@boatyardblues

I hope that's the end of that little bastard's potential career.

Here’s hoping.

Sadly, if he’s talented clubs will bend over backwards for him, regardless of what a cunt he is.
DoingItMyself · 11/05/2021 07:24

I've been on that train and the middle aged men and elders are just as fucking rude. It's a horrible place, vile people.

Which is not the case for Dublin as a whole.
