Girl pushed under train.

Thelnebriati · 10/05/2021 22:50

The girls all have to run past the boys to board the train.
One girl is kicked in the face, spat on, shoved, tripped up, and ends up falling on to the tracks.

The guard in they hi vis yellow jacket just watches.

I'm at the end of my tether with male violence and entitlement.

@SuperSleepyBaby

Just reading that reminded me - i was about 20 and out for a jog in the afternoon. A boy in his teens went by me - he was alone - and without saying anything spat all over my face. I was so stunned as I had no interaction with him before - I just froze and said nothing and he cycled off. It was so disgusting having to clean it off and I told no one. I imagine he did that to lots of other people to.
Let's hope he did it to the 'wrong' person That is horrifying and disturbing

I think the RTÉ journalist’s description of the events on the CCTV tape is not entirely accurate (no mention of the girl who went under the train being tripped by the bike-rider) and it comes across as equivocal in its description of the events - perhaps it has to be written that way before any legal proceedings happen but I think it undermines the deliberateness of what we can clearly see happening on the recording.

Shocking report - disgrace actually.

She tripped and fell? Nope - she was pushed, clear as day.

I have written in a complaint.

And hiding behing the "legal" argument is weak.

Deadringer · 13/05/2021 15:52

One of them is only 13, imagine what he will be like at 19, or 29. Scumbag.

Let's hope they get some significant consequences and we don't get the usual Irish response to youth crime of 'boys will be boys / they're good lads, just a bit young for their age' or 'the family are well-known and respected in the community, active in the local GAA / football / rugby / whatever / club'. Hmm

NewlyGranny · 13/05/2021 19:46

Harried Harriet, those three have now been released without charge. 🙄

Gardai say the investigation is ongoing, though.

Interesting minimisation from the journalist, when a kick to the face is reported as "swinging a leg." 😠

toffeebutterpopcorn · 13/05/2021 19:48

I hope their mums (usually the mums isn’t it?) are waiting for them. If kill DS if he pulled some crap like that.

Villanelle17 · 13/05/2021 20:00

If the police don't do anything I think the public will. I'm going from things I've seen wrote on their Facebook pages. The way the journalist described a kick to the face is disgraceful.
I hate to think what they will be like in a few years time.

No charges brought against them!

UtopiaPlanitia · 14/05/2021 15:56
Feck sake!

I’m very confused; the Gardaí have actual CCTV of the boys harassing, and physically hurting those girls, so why can’t they be charged with committing an offence?!

BrandineDelRoy · 14/05/2021 16:00
Why are the perps described as "teens" or "youths" and the victim as a "woman"? Why aren't the other victims mentioned at all?
BlueVelvetStars · 14/05/2021 16:12

just saw this...

I feel sick for those girls ..

Im glad to see they have been identified and being investigated.

MrsTroutfireVII · 15/05/2021 06:59

This makes me so angry. He'd be picking up his teeth if he tried that on me. 😡

Zzelda · 15/05/2021 16:07

I don't think that that necessarily means they won't be charged - it's clear the police are still investigating.

The mother of one of the attackers is considering suing Irish Rail because of the CCTV leak:

www.independent.ie/irish-news/motherof-dart-attack-suspect-threatens-to-sue-irish-rail-over-cctv-footage-leak-40433558.html

I note this report is also describing the incident as the girl slipping under the train - I haven’t come across any Irish media describing properly what was actually done to the girl Angry

toffeebutterpopcorn · 17/05/2021 15:45

How would you have the brass neck to cry 'no fair' over this?

bitheby · 17/05/2021 16:07

They can't say anything that would prejudice legal proceedings.

Also it probably is a data breach that the CCTV has been shared so she might have a point about that. Doesn't mean they haven't done wrong but they're only kids themselves. Law needs to apply fairly to everyone.

Asbolutely · 17/05/2021 16:12

"showed a number of young women running to the Dart, past a group of male youths who kicked, lunged and swung their bikes at them, before one chilling moment when a girl slipped and fell under the train."

One chilling moment??!! ONE?! And it wasn't chilling that she "slipped". She didn't slip! There were several chilling moments of thugs lashing out at young women, and then one further chilling moment where one girl was shoved under a train by a boy using his bike as a weapon.

Some of the boys seemed a bit shocked or surprised (not in any way remorseful or concerned though), but the one who shoved her under the bus looked like it was totally standard that he'd just pushed someone under a train. Didn't even flinch. Bastard.

And that mother needs to sort her priorities. If she's concerned that his life has been ruined by being identified in this video, she should be more concerned about his life being ruined because he's a fucking idiot. That's going to be worse for him in the long run.

I'd love to see her try. If she even managed to find a lawyer to support the case, I suspect she'd be laughed out of court.

That has made me furious

I had discovered my ds had done that, he wouldn’t be able to sit down for a week! I would not dare consider suing the train station

DeRigueurMortis · 17/05/2021 16:45

Given this was not one isolated incident of gangs harassing other passengers I'd argue the subject under review shouldn't be how this film clip was "leaked", but rather why such incidents are not routinely released on social media by Irish Rail and the Police to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Selkie1961 · 17/05/2021 18:31

Wow, she is doing that because she is ashamed of her son. I would keep my head down if i were her. I have a 15 year old son ans i know you cant tell a 15 year old boy a foot taller 2hat to do. So i would not hold amother responsible for what her son does. But i am shaking my head in disbelief at her suing irish rail!

I admire your optimism but I don't share it. The law has long since been on the side of wrongdoers.
Selkie1961 · 17/05/2021 18:39

Lawyers will take any case they consider interesting. The safety of passengers is not their motivator, and if irish rail had to pay out millions and fares went up, they would not feel that they had colluded in anything toxic. Lawyers solicitorsvand barristers think that there is nothing more beautiful ofmr fascinating than the law. Its like one big poem to mull over.

We are not all so bad, but I understand the sentiment. The girls' should get their own lawyers on the boys for assault and battery to collect anything gotten from the rail lines for leaking the footage.
