Girl pushed under train.

Thelnebriati · 10/05/2021 22:50

The girls all have to run past the boys to board the train.
One girl is kicked in the face, spat on, shoved, tripped up, and ends up falling on to the tracks.

The guard in they hi vis yellow jacket just watches.

I'm at the end of my tether with male violence and entitlement.

I've looked into more news reports and this 'gang' are responsible for other attacks.
Why are the police sat on their asses! This happened early April - does it take Twitter sharing my horrified users to get anything done in Dublin? Come on Dublin authorities do your job and arrest these violent thugs.

"Gardai are probing if the same gang was behind two horrific attacks in north Dublin.

On the first occasion, CCTV footage showed a young female being pushed on to a train track at Howth Junction station on April 1.

The images showed a youth lunging at a woman before a pal attempts to use the wheel of his bike to trip her.

She managed to keep her feet but a second female - the 17-year-old - was clipped by the bike and fell into the gap between the platform and train.

As the thugs walked away, the shocked girl, who suffered minor injuries, was helped on to the platform.

In the most recent incident, a lad jumped on to the top of a family car after he was chased by 20 thugs in Malahide on Saturday night.

But he was later cornered by the mob and beaten before being treated in hospital for his injuries."

The Irish Sun has a story here. It says the Shelbourne FC is investigating its player's behaviour. Also that the FC has a lot of female players; I wonder how they'll feel if this yobbo isn't reined in?

SuperSleepyBaby · 11/05/2021 08:11

Therse boys wouldn't be aspiring vets or architects! That is not their mindset.

GCAcademic · 11/05/2021 08:11

@toffeebutterpopcorn

I hope this is not shushed up under ‘oh but he is an aspiring footballer/architect/vet/DJ... what about his career??😭’ defence.

Little shits.

Sadly, on the basis of the way this kind of thing usually goes, I think we can make an educated guess that this is precisely what will happen.
toffeebutterpopcorn · 11/05/2021 08:12

They actually stated human rights? How is it that men have ‘more’ human rights?

Woman - no right to catch a train without being attacked
Man - human rights to attack a woman and not have the meanies demand he is punished?

There’s always one though... even if they just mentioned once ‘that’s a nice building’.

You see it in the reports when there have been gang stabbings in London... he is such a lovely boy, wanted to be XXX, gets the groceries for his Nan...

LongHotSummerJustPassedMeBy · 11/05/2021 08:14

This is appalling.

I wondered whether the girls were on their way home from work maybe and had to change trains at that junction. Perhaps they are used to running the gauntlet of abusive males every time they change trains. Horrendous.

I assumed that the guard would have had to keep the other train doors closed to stop the gang from getting back on the train via another carriage.

I hope it's not hushed up as well . I hate the so called excuse of well it will ruin his plans as hes going to be a footballer or whatever if punshied .sod his plans ,what about his victims plans ? Would the idiots at the football club be so supportive of him and others like him if their daughters or female or male relatives were the victims ...some how I doubt it .

@DoingItMyself

I've been on that train and the middle aged men and elders are just as fucking rude. It's a horrible place, vile people.

Which is not the case for Dublin as a whole.

Wow - I'd considered Dublin as a place for a long weekend break - whilst long haul is not possible for a while - avoiding the place now.

This does not happen where I live - male violence yes but gangs of males attacking women/girls walking past like this!

These are not working class boys. I’m from a working class family; am now an expat scientist in Switzerland. Many of my friends from working class families are perfectly respectable members of society; doctors, teachers, police, civil servants etc.

Sick of this narrative that working class (boys in particular) are feral scum. These boys here aren’t working class; they’re from a strata on the fringes of society, probably from non-working, broken families with criminality thrown in.

MadamBatty · 11/05/2021 08:15

There’s a group of approx 30 boys 13-15 that hang about my small local park from 3 to 5 pm everyday. They smoke hash & intimidate the dog walkers, women with young children & elderly women. The boys have electric scooters & bikes.

I made a complaint to the local Superintendent at the Garda station. He did get back to me, he said the main problem is that these boys are under age so even if they do take them to the station they can ‘do nothing’.

I’ve told him that this is unacceptable & written also to my TD. Still waiting for their reply.

Where the feck are the parents in this?

@SunflowersAndLavender

Seems to be a huge problem in seaside townships in Dublin. Access on Dart from city centre to Howth Malahide Bray and Greystones increased today to 50% capacity. This is only going to get worse. Terrible invasion for locals

I don't understand this comment. Whay is a terrible invasion for locals? Invasion by what/whom?

I heard this happened at Howth Junction, so firmly in the north side.
GCAcademic · 11/05/2021 08:17

Here is the statement; it refers to his “rights” and him being a minor:

Petition to sign to get the 'footballer' who thinks kicking a young woman in the head is acceptable kicked out of his football club.

SuperSleepyBaby · 11/05/2021 08:21

They gangs travel on the dart to Dalkey and Kiliney beach on the Southside - and to Malahide, Howth and Portmarnock on the northside - among other places.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 11/05/2021 08:22

So I guess the lads were what mid teens?

Kind if reminds me of a few years back when a young man in Scotland who was basically let off with a ‘tut tut’ for repeatedly raping a little girl over a few years (from when he was a young teen). He was wanting to go to uni to be a vet - so the judge decided that his potential career was more important so he didn’t get jail. I think he had to give the little girl £80. So he was guilty, everyone knew what he did, but he walked out of court. I’m still raging about this.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 11/05/2021 08:23

So - if he had been a kid who was an aspiring martial arts medal winner - they would have thrown the book at him. A footballer is fit and kicks for a living - same thing isn’t it?

As I read it, they are simply being rightly cautious. If they jump in with assumptions of guilt at this stage then they risk jeopardising any trial which would mean that any charges would have to be dropped. No-one is saying that the accused have any more rights than the victim.
GCAcademic · 11/05/2021 08:24

Please don’t post petition links on here, this will get the thread moved to the petition board!

I can't see anything that indicates they aren't going to throw the book at him. They're currently saying that they need to follow due process.

Yes agreed

SuperSleepyBaby · 11/05/2021 08:32

I’d say they are aged around 14 to 16?

Bagelsandbrie · 11/05/2021 08:32

This is absolutely disgusting. I have signed the petition. I don’t know what we need to do to change things but how absolutely heartbreaking that some young people have such disrespect for each other.

Doghead · 11/05/2021 08:33

This video actually made me cry when I saw it the other day.

It's wrong to link it only to violence against the women though. Scrotes like this go for anyone. No respect, no morals and extremely low self esteem. Trying to be all 'gangsta' in front of their mates.

Yep this.

I grew up in Croydon and there were gangs like this everywhere. It’s not specifically “against women” it’s against anyone they perceive to be weaker than themselves. Old, disabled, women, children, no one is beyond them.
