The sheer ignorance of the fact that caitlyn competed as a male is staggering

This is fantastic visibility.

Caitlyn Jenner is living proof that transwomen can compete in male sports. And win.

Caitlyn Jenner was always a woman, under their rules. And did not die of embarrassment at having to compete in the male category.

Everyone now has a chance to point out the idiocy and say that, sure, transwomen can do what Jenner did.

PandorasMailbox · 02/05/2021 07:10

Fallon Fox, the trans MMA fighter who smashed a woman's skull in, has of course accused Jenner of being a traitor Hmm

I hadn’t understood the ladder comment at first.

I thought they were talking about CJ pulling up the ladder for acceptance for trans people in some way.

But no.

There are people out there who think CJ competed in women’s sports Confused

There was not then, and is not now a women’s Olympic decathlon event, of course.

Honestly, I’m not surprised. I was listening to a podcast the other day, and in order to honour CJs gender, they retconned CJ and Kris Jenner meeting into two women meeting and hitting it off. I had to stop listening, so I’ve no idea how they squared the circle of two women producing a biological child between them with no outside intervention.

Madness. And I’m here for it!

zzizzer · 02/05/2021 07:17

Yes, this is what the reddit community call "gatekeeping" - which in this instance is something like "I made it through and am locking the gate behind me to stop others like me getting through".

CaveMum · 02/05/2021 07:20

I have new found respect for CJ on this one. Of course she has committed High Treason in the eyes of the TRA faithful and must be punished/cancelled/show penance through self-flagellation but, from what I can see on Twitter, the replies are overwhelmingly in agreement with her.

BigGreenOlives · 02/05/2021 07:20

I’m off social media like Twitter, IG & FB as part of the anti racism/abuse platform boycott this weekend; pity.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 02/05/2021 07:22

Honestly, some of the transactivists just parrot the things they hear women's rights advocates saying.

They've heard us tell women like Billie Jean King and Megan Rapinoe (who support male children in girls' sport) that they're pulling the ladder up after them, because they are- they might not have had their careers if they'd competed under the rule changes they're championing.

However, as said, it simply doesn't work. Jenner never ever competed in women's athletics!

NecessaryScene1 · 02/05/2021 07:24

I don't think they think that, but it's hard to tell.

I'm assuming they think that these laws are banning trans people from sports outright.

Or maybe they're just flapping their gums and know it's all bollocks, but this the performance they feel they have to do.

DickKerrLadies · 02/05/2021 07:28

Just heard this on the radio.

I think there's been a conscious decision to name Jenner as an 'Olympic gold medalist' without normally going into detail about the male-only event that Jenner won that medal in.

Of course, Jenner really does have the 'lived experience' to be able to say this. Is that not enough anymore?

DickKerrLadies · 02/05/2021 07:30

TBF, every headline I've read about this bill claims this - that it is to 'ban trans people from sport'.

Overdueanamechange · 02/05/2021 07:34

Surprised to have a new found respect for CJ, after thinking she was just another silly Kardashian. She is speaking as an ex athlete and a father to daughters, and is actually saying what most men I know are saying. Good for her.

WarriorN · 02/05/2021 07:39

@UhtredRagnarson

Caitlyn was an athlete. Caitlyn knows.

This, and, has lots of daughters.

Caitlin knows.

EdwinPootsLovesArchaeology · 02/05/2021 07:40

Fox News’ Sean Hannity will sit down with Jenner for an interview airing Wednesday at 9PM/ET. - from Fox News online.

Thatwentbadly · 02/05/2021 07:40

@EdwinPootsLovesArchaeology

Jenner is an aspiring politician, and a Republican.

Interesting that this is part of Jenner's 'run' at a political stance. I suspect that they know it'll be popular with the actual voters rather than the twitterati & collegerati who won't be in Jenner's potential voting pool anyway.

I have been pondering this and wondering what she really thinks, it is her statement or is this just her campaign rhetoric?
WarriorN · 02/05/2021 07:43

Does anyone who used she and would usually use they have a reason? I wonder if it's conscious or subconscious?

I never use she now here. I have on twitter for Fionne and Seven as they've been respectful to women's causes and it's a conscious decision to do so, not as it would ban me but for them.

Itwasjustresting · 02/05/2021 07:48

Interesting tweet from the Guardian’s Digital Editor - I wonder if he will get the same treatment as Suzanne Moore....

Exactly this. They clearly just aren't trying hard enough if they can't (as girls have been told often enough).

I think, sadly, we know the answer to that.

Jonathan will keep his job. CJ will not be cancelled.

And yes, if CJ can win the olympics as a woman competing in the men’s events, then there’s obviously nothing that transwomen can’t do if they put their backs into it! Come on ladies!

PaleBlueMoonlight · 02/05/2021 07:55

Interesting how the BBC headline says this “Caitlyn Jenner opposes trans girls in women's sports as unfair” rather than the disingenuous opposes trans girls playing sport that you would usually see.

RebeccaCloud9 · 02/05/2021 07:59

Twitter is hilarious (but scary). Armies of TRAs losing their shit because someone has made a comment supporting women and girls. It boggles my mind how they cannot see the other physical differences between men and women beyond hormones.

DazzlePaintedBattlePants · 02/05/2021 08:00

This is nothing to do with CJ being an athlete and recognising the inherent unfairness of men in women’s sports, and everything about appealing to a Republican voter demographic, and probably attracting the more social conservative Latino population into the bargain.

DickKerrLadies · 02/05/2021 08:03

Wow - turns out the BBC do know how to write an accurate headline!

I'm now hopeful that in the future the BBC will no longer write headlines that describe this story in an inaccurate way and will point out that no, transpeople are not being banned from all sports.

CaveMum · 02/05/2021 08:04

I’m disappointed by the number of US Celebs that are retweeting comments by prominent US TRAs calling out CJ on this.

Of course they’re all shouting about “the evidence” that transwomen/trans girls have no advantage, without being able to produce any of it.

I tend to use they but will occasionally use she, mainly because I'm of the opinion that i call people what they want to be called because I'm polite, but I can't be forced to believe someone is ACTUALLY a woman and nor should they be treated as an actual woman for the purposes of sex based rights.
