Good for CJ. I don’t really care if it’s to do with saying the right thing for republicans or whatever. While I’m a massive cynic, I don’t think CJ is necessarily just saying it for political reasons. There’s every reason to think a former leading athlete would have a genuine understanding of the issues and is fed up of the bullshit.

I should have specified that transmen to compete in the female category only if they have not taken testosterone.

When he wanted to wrestle boys at the Varsity level in his Junior year, he was told he had to wrestle girls. He stated that it was not fair to the girls and that he would rather win or lose in fair matches against boys. The state did not have the option of telling him he couldn't compete at all.

Well CJ certainly would understand this.

I have three major concerns (well I have a few others but these dominate my worries): The first is this
the second is mixing in hospital -which is impractical as well as wrong FOR BOTH PARTIES because our intrinsic bodies adapted or not have different affects on disease & treatment, & privacy & dignity should be paramount.
Thirdly because sadly whether or not someone is genuine with the best of intentions there will always be an opportunity for predators to take the opportunity to harm vulnerable people. Especially when there is no safeguard to check & an assumption that if someone says they are trans they must always be genuine - even though their recent previous lifestyle provides no evidence of this.

Also powerful, famous people, especially those who know what they’re talking about as in this case, daring to face down the ideology with reality is really important in turning the tide. It shows people they’re actually allowed to have sensible, reasoned, fairness-based thoughts.

It’s not good how left/right this argument has become in the US but I hope that falls away over time as more people speak up. Navratilova is left-wing.

Fallon fox calling CJ a traitor. Somehow, (and I'm not a fan of CJ) I can't see CJ thinking that breaking a woman's skull and ending her career as being in the remit of acceptable behaviour.

The BBC headline on this might be better than usual but the article itself is still unbalanced. If it was to be an echo of the article covering Elliot Page’s interview with Oprah they would have ended the article on CJ’s quote that it ‘wasn’t fair’.

At the bottom of the article about CJ’s thoughts the BBC then link to the article covering EP’s interview, saying that EP had said banning trans kids from sports will mean kids will die. I notice they haven’t similarly updated EP’s article with a link to the one covering CJ’s thoughts for balance.

On a less amusing note, this literal cancellation of identity is par for the course on the extreme left cf. people telling Black people who don't tow the party line (eg Candace Owens) they're not Black. During the last election Biden famously said "you're not Black if you don't vote democracy".

Again, assuming PoCs/trans people etc all have homogenous political views. Any that don't conform are literally cancelled (stripped of their identity). The snake continues to eat its tail.

I literally know a full on gun-toting Black Republican who voted Trump in both elections. It's one thing to say you don't agree with him and that he is effectively a turkey voting for Christmas but to negate his Black identity because you disagree with his politics is ... crazy

I think this will bring a lot of sunlight. This is a view the vast majority of people see as perfectly reasonable, and coming from a famous MTF trans celebrity. The unhinged responses on social media to this will be interesting to many people.

To all those angry trans out there, Caitlyn now identifies as a woman, and she is standing up for womens rights. She has therefore reached the pinnacle of being a woman. Well done her.
