Shout out to my fellow lesbians on this important week!

I will be wearing my lesbian pride badge right next to my trans pride badge for the whole week in all public spaces.

I am a DNA carrying female.
I am not a lesbian.
But I hate seeing our young made to think they have to agree to lies.
If you don't want a male sexual organ in your bedroom, why can't you claim a title that has been acknowledged for as long as people could write?
Two Eve's in a bed. Lesbian.
Two Adam's in a bed. Homosexual.
Anything else in a couple call it as you will just not the same as above.

"Saw some really sad accounts from young lesbians who have been traumatised and made to feel 'wrong' for not liking penis, because that's what they've been told they should, as lesbians, like."

I've also listened to first hand accounts of young trans lesbians being mocked, denigrated and invalidated by transphobes, even within their own families. Just let people be who they are for fucks sake.

Okay well I am a DNA carrying female and I totally disagree. Being born female or male doesn't make you a man or woman. They are gender terms meaning it isn't down to biology. If two people who identify as women are together then they are lesbians. Similarly with two identifying men. If you don't agree that's fine, apply what you want to your own life. That's your belief. But others disagree and we will live by the reality of life.
BlackWaveComing · 29/04/2021 11:28

I'm sure some of them are foolish. A % of people are.

But mostly they've received life long female socialisation telling them to be kind. Which they're doing.

Whether they truly believe your legal papers magically changed your literal sex, and turned your heterosexual marriage into a homosexual one, I don't know...and I doubt they'd tell you...you're not exactly open to women disagreeing with you.

ASugarr, peddling untruths again.

As you've been told before, the 'gender terms' for male and female are masculine and feminine.

Man and woman distinguish maturity of each sex, as do boy and girl.

This 101 is getting tedious.

I'm not a troll. This is the "feminism" forum - it doesn't say "GC feminism" forum. So, there are a range of opinions here, some of which come from intersectional, third-wave feminists like me. You will inevitably therefore come across feminist opinions here that you do not like.

By all means express your differences of opinion, but try to do it without calling people names.

Seriously? You think being mocked or invalidated is anywhere near as serious as young women being coerced into sleeping with people they don't want to, to prove they're not a transphobe? To protect themselves from harassment? To try and 'fix' themselves because they've been told they're the wrong kind of lesbian?

SERIOUSLY?!

I would be here if that was the case would I.

Whythesadface · 29/04/2021 11:32

So do we call them identifying lesbians, as per your answer.
Because a preop transexual in a mixed DNA couple relation with functioning sexual organs can procreate.
Lesbians defined as two females do not produce children.

JensonsAcolyte · 29/04/2021 11:33

How have we got to a point where blatant homophobia like this is acceptable but saying men can literally become women is True Facts?

We are all the way through the looking glass.

Helleofabore · 29/04/2021 11:33

"People born male who have an exclusive orientation to females are heterosexual. "

Agreed.

"People born male who claim to be lesbians are lying."

Agreed.

"No male born person can ever experience a same sex orientation to females...because they are of the opposite sex."

Agreed.

I am just reposting this section as it is really important to show what happens when words are redefined.

So, let's start again.

"People born male (with bodies formed around the production of small gametes regardless of any modifications to their body or medical conditions where this does not occur) who have an exclusive orientation to females (who have bodies formed around the production of large gametes, and large gametes only, even if that production does not occur) are heterosexual. "

Agree?

"People born male (with bodies formed around the production of small gametes regardless of any modifications to their body or medical conditions where this does not occur) who claim to be lesbians are lying."

Agree?

"No male born person (with bodies formed around the production of small gametes regardless of any modifications to their body or medical conditions where this does not occur) can ever experience a same sex orientation to females (who have bodies formed around the production of large gametes, and large gametes only, even if that production does not occur)...because they are of the opposite sex. As made clear by the Endocrine Society (see link below)"

academic.oup.com/edrv/advance-article/doi/10.1210/endrev/bnaa034/6159361#.YG386Eqj1v4.twitter

Agree?

Language is vital to communicate clearly.

When ambiguity has been allowed to replicate in defining words that are necessary for law as they are for medical treatment, it is a sign that harm is being done to those who the words originally defined.

I acknowledge trans women can have penises. As I understand it the majority of them do.

I do not accept lesbians can have penises - ever. If that makes me a bigot, I’m fine with it.

Shizuku · 29/04/2021 11:36

More than half of young trans people attempt suicide - that's how difficult it is to be trans. Piling on the mockery, and invalidation is seriously damaging to these young frightened people.

If someone is being coerced into having sex, call the police. You can do that - I called the police after a 16-year-old trans girl (who was also a lesbian by the way) was being groomed into prostitution after her family left her destitute. Their angle was to try to convince here that it would somehow validate her identity. Serious fucking psychopath manipulating here. The police did nothing, but we got her out anyway.

More than half of young trans people attempt suicide this is a dangerous and disturbing lie. Why do you keep repeating it?

Whythesadface · 29/04/2021 11:38

BlackWaveComing give your DD a hug from me.
Tell her to be true to who she is.
We support her right to not be lead into believing a lie.

Shizuku · 29/04/2021 11:40

You all seriously need to stop gaslighting and erasing lesbians who have no problem accepting trans women as women. This is lesbian visibility week - it should be about celebrating all lesbians.

If you are a lesbian who has never knowingly perceived a trans woman as female, and would always avoid any kind of relationship with a trans woman, that's fine - you do you, but accept that you are not all lesbians - we are a varied bunch.

Actually it has been confirmed in surveys. As well as transgender people having serious mental health issues because of family disapproval and abuse.
