Knew this would happen, had to turn down job

I'm furious, have been out of work for a while. Was offered a temporary contract writing and implementating policy for a public sector organisation. Just up my street and would really have helped us out. Turns out they're Stonewall champions and are full on TWAW and have all rights to anything they want. I asked to review some of their current policies and it's all cisgender crap and lists of stuff we must and mustn't do to make all Trans people safe. We'll I've obviously had to turn down the role and worse I told the recruiter why so will probably never get a job through them now. There are companies out there that haven't bought into all this crap aren't there?

OP posts:

I know dear, distant cousin Bunbury is taking a sabbatical, but I feel her teachings are, err... germane to this thread. As you were.

Butwasitherdriveway · 22/04/2021 19:45

@PheasantPlucker1

Driveway single mum of 4 here. We live hand to mouth, though its improved a lot since I was a homeless teenager.

My feminism is about female liberation.

I dont want mens approval, or support, or agreement.

I dont need it when Im on the loo, or on the internet, or at work, or when I have headphones in running. I dont need mens encouraging comments about what I should be doing to woman better.

Good luck with that.
LostToucan · 22/04/2021 19:46

Empathising assuming other people always feel the same.

They don't.

It isn't a shitty job

Ah right. So you’ve completely misunderstood. Explains a lot of your muddled posts.

@Butwasitherdriveway try re-reading the OPs third and sixth post that make it abundantly clear.

I'm not muddled.

I haven't misunderstood anything.

Op and PP think she empathises with those poor people who feel the same but are forced to work there

For all we know, OP is the only person in the org who has these beliefs.

LostToucan · 22/04/2021 19:51

Op and PP think she empathises with those poor people who feel the same but are forced to work there

OP didn’t say that. That’s just your interpretation.

So who does she have empathy with?
LostToucan · 22/04/2021 19:55

So who does she have empathy with?

I’ll let you work that out for yourself.

No answer then

I've already said who I think she has empathu with. You disagreed but can't tell me otherwise.

SirVixofVixHall · 22/04/2021 19:57

@ASugarr

If that is their policy then that's their policy. Human rights are important in most companies to uphold. Good luck looking elsewhere.
How is giving males access to female only spaces “upholding human rights” ? Do explain.
PheasantPlucker1 · 22/04/2021 19:57

Today I had to explain to a year 10 class that males can never get pregnant and uterus transplants into males are not possible.

I even had to allow two to google as they didnt believe me.

You can all empathise and feel sorry for me if you want Grin

Was it in a relevant class or just shoe horned in?
LostToucan · 22/04/2021 19:59

I’ve already given you the answer, if you cared enough to read it.

Hey ho.

Oh dear. Kids, Harry Potter fanfiction is not a documentary.

I'm saying people who live in real turmoil don't need OPs outrage because whether or not an employee thinks TWAW is the least of their worries, whereas for you MN warriors it is the centre of everything.

I don't really think you should speak for everyone. Do you? Seems a bit rude to make assumptions that women living in turmoil aren't interested or don't have the headspace for women's rights.☹️ After all, you don't know everyone's circumstances here.. do you?

Erkrie · 22/04/2021 20:02

Here. Have some 🥂🍾 You probably need it.

Not what I said though, is it.

What I said was, pretending that throwing yourself under the bus for a non issue in the name of all the souls that can't, is disrespectful to what they're facing.

Ps. Nor everyone thinks TWAW is a massive, massive, women's rights changing issue. Shock .

Another non answer. You're a good deflector.
PheasantPlucker1 · 22/04/2021 20:04

Driveway why would I shoehorn random things in to a class? What a strange question.

I used the phrase pregnant women, and one asked me to say pregnant people.
In my subject we have to use language correctly, and the correct definitions. Especially in this context. Thats how we got on the subject.

I was gobsmacked that two bright 15yr olds genuinely believed that humans could change sex.

Not deflecting, I just cba to repeat things.

I don't believe in a million years a pupil asked you to say pregnant people. Not in the slightest.

Because even though have made it completely about you, all of my points were to OP.

Erkrie · 22/04/2021 20:07

I have seen evidence of this with young adults. It's quite a worry.
